Movie Search Thread​

Do you need help finding a movie? Do you only know a small bit of information about a film but can't remember what it was? Well calling all GTP-ers could you help?

Rules​

  1. Make sure you have looked through this forum first for the correct information by using the search function.
  2. Can't find your film? have you exahusted all other means including the net?
  3. Only post here if the above options haven't turned up any results.
  4. Only post helpfull information and not use this thread to discuss a movie after it has been found.
  5. Try to give clear and precise information about the film you are looking for so that you may get a response quickly and accurately.
  6. Remeber to follow the AUP at all times
  7. This is not a quiz, so please don't keep posting films if you already know what it is, but im sure people who help out alot in this thread will be seen as movie experts.

Well I might as well start seeing as I wanted to find this film for a while.

I dont know any actors in it :dopey: because its been about 5 years since I saw it last (on TV), all i know is that a gourp of men set off to watch a boxing match, and the highway is full of traffic and they are in a hurry (due to being late). They take a shortcut through a deserted bit of town and find themselves lost, un-friendly people start to persue them and kill them. I know thats not alot to go on but if anyone has any idea's please let me know.

I'm looking for an old disney movie.

I have vague recollections of it, so its likely an early 80's movie.

Description: Father and young son (12ish). Father suddenly gains super powers. Along the lines of he can run non-stop forever. He heals fast. They meet new lady, after government starts chasing them.

In the process of testing the father, they find that his one weakness is light. He needs to have light inorder to keep his super powers. They find this from leaving a petri testing dish in a fridge over night. The lack of light kills the cells. (they don't really announce this until near the final conclusion)

In another scene, after the bad guys have captured the father and son, they ask for a demonstration of the super powers. The lady then shoots the father (with a laser gun, i think) in the shoulder. Later making the comment that she knew where to shoot him , as she is an expert marksman.

End of the movie, Father is battling the bad guys on a tractor trailer which he had to run a mile through the woods over the mountain to jump on to. The tractor ends up careening of a cliff into the water, sinking down. (this is when we find out about the petri dish).

Some time (hours?) they pull the trailer up and the father seems dead. However, the day light revives him. It turns out Son has the same powers, and (I think) their dog develops them as well.

Anyone help me out here?
 
I'm looking to find out some more info on a film set during WWI during Christmas, when the opposing sides stopped fighting for one night and thn went back to war the day after. I'm not sure if I want to buy it or not, basically because I don't know much about it, that's why I'm trying to find it. I don't know what it's called though and theres a lot of war films out there.
 
There are two films I'm looking for. One of which I have no information on whatsoever, just a part of one line.. so I'm not going to bother at this point with that one.. hehe.

But the other one. I saw this one maybe twenty years ago on TV, just once. It was about a guy, maybe high-school age, who finds some trinket somewhere that seems to attract him. He wears it non-stop, even when it starts to burn/inflame his skin (he has it on a necklace). His girlfriend is upset about it because it's making him crazy and evil. Later, he finds some odd piece of technology, out in the desert somewhere, and he realizes that the trinket he found gives him the power to use it. It's an alien weapon, a super-powerful hand cannon capable of leveling entire buildings. He does his thing, destroys everything in his way, and then the aliens come back for it at the very end, killing the guy and taking the weapon back.

Oh, and there's another movie, I think it's separate from the one above, but may be the same movie, that features a huge rolling fireball.. think a snowball, but made of fire, and hundreds of feet across, rolling across the desert destroying everything in it's path.
 
I've lately been into absurdly gory movies lately, and I was wondering if anybody could help me identify this. I only have seen about 2 seconds of the film though. :lol: There is an animated GIF around here of a movie clip where one guy crushes another guy's head with his hands. :lol: Sorry, can't find it though. It's one of those things that repeats over and over... If it helps, I think both men in the clip are Asian.
 
Hello and Help.. Saw this movie years ago , Its about a group of men [4 or 5 possibly more] who go on a hunting expedition in the deep south of America in dense woodland .They are stalked by hillbillies and a violent killing spree starts to develop. From memory I think some of the hunters are captured and taken back to the hillbillies camp.[really good banjo music like deliverance] This is not the film deliverance though ! I've been trying for years to find the name of this film without success......

He does his thing, destroys everything in his way, and then the aliens come back for it at the very end, killing the guy and taking the weapon back.

Here's one i've been looking for ages for, i think i originally saw it when i was very young so it must be from the early 80's or possibly late 70's.

There's this young peasant kid who lives with his foster parents in the middle of nowhere. I think they might be farmers or something. He meets up with these two odd characters who show up looking for work. One day one of the new farm hands runs off, so the kid and this other new guy (who i think was a homosexual) head off looking for him. On the way they get ambushed by some bandits but luckily some old bloke turns up and manages to chase them off. They find the missing farm hand and give the old bloke a lift back to his house. The old bloke tells the kid that he knew his parents and asks him if he wants to go on some journey with him. The kid declines saying he would like too, but needs to stay and help around the farm for at least until the end of the season, after that he was planning on joining the airforce like his friends did. The kid returns home only to find his guardians have been killed. He decides he's now got no reason to stay so heads off with the old man and the farm hands to the nearest town. It gets a bit unbelievable after this. They join up with a pair of grifters and the six of them set off to free a senator in jail at some high security prison. As if!!!

I can't recall whether it was a TV movie or not. Anyone got any ideas?

does anyone remember this movie, i used to watch it as a kid, (im 23 now and used to watch it when i was like 6 and 7) about a kid who gets a motorbike, like a motorcross motorbike that is alive. at the start of the movie the bike throws its owner off of it into the mud cos he treats it bad or something, i cant exactly remember, then the kid somehow gets the bike. but at the end the bike and the kid take this fat guy on a scary ride to get back at him or something. i am also remembering hot dogs, or a hotdog stand or something along those lines, and mustard. this has been bugging me for ages and for the life of me i cant remember what its caled, its not a cartoon, its a real life movie. if anyone can remember this movie i would love for u to tell me what it is called. gracious.

The only thing I remember from the 1980s with a motorbike-based hero was "Street Hawk", which was a TV series and the bike wasn't "alive" (it was like KITT but without the whole "being a person" thing).

I remember that movie... the kid was blonde with really thick glasses. I'll have to look around for the title, though.

Googled 80s kids, 80s movies, 80s nerds, 80s freaks... and about 50 more searches. Finally a movie poster of a 1983 movie called A Christmas Story, shows the kid.

i cant beleive u recognised the kid from a poster for a seperate movie, amazing, truly amazing. :bowdown:
 
The kid (Peter Billingsley) was actually 15 when he starred in the movie :odd: I would've placed him as being 10... 12 tops.
