Caffeine does not become thermogenic unless you take doses of over 400mg. (For the record: that's a LOT). Also, it increases your blood pressure and heart rate. So stay away from that crap (a cup of coffee or two won't hurt though). Ephedrine actually works, but is illegal in most countries, and with good reason.Caffeine is actually a thermogenic chemical that will accelerate your metabolism. Fat burning pills are commonly caffeine/ephedrine stack, but ephedrine can kill you if you overheat your body while taking it.
Pot belly, a pop belly is what happened when Britney ate the cake.
Anyone know of any snacks that are healthy for you but don't taste like cardboard (i.e. rice cakes)?

How about diet-soda? I'm not severely overweight or anything, but I'm just tipping to overweight, and have been noticing a consistent growth in my tummy for the past two weeks. I drink a lot of soda, so I suppose that is what has caused my weight growth.
👍Diet Soda doesn't really help despite the lack of calories. Soda is Soda.

I disagree 100%. The reason people are underweight or overweight is because they don't count calories.I can't believe how much people know about dieting ITT. I'm 26, 6 foot tall and weigh 80ish kilograms. It's really, really simple - don't overeat and exercise regularly. Don't count calories or anything like that. Have a peanut butter sandwich and a bottle of water and some fruit or something for luch. Anything more is overeating and not necessary.
Friend of mine lost 40lbs in about a year by switching to diet and adding in some regular exercise.

If you dont count calories, you will have no idea if you are eating too much or too little. For someone that is obese, counting calories is VERY VERY VERY important. Even if you exercise, if you still take in more calories than you burn in a day you will still gain weight. Again, counting calories is VERY important.
The link in post #29 is guaranteed to help anyone lose weight. Every person that has tried it, has succeeded. And you get to play the PS3, 360, or watch movies while you lose weight. It really doenst get any easier than that.
I will more-than-likely use this thread to record weight loss and such, mostly for my own use but also to keep all of you up to date so that maybe y'all can help me keep motivated and stuff.

Thanks again.
I agree. Keep us updated with your progress and use this as a notepad of your results per day or per week. And please take my advice and start counting your calories. It will help you more than you will ever realize.I think this will be one of the more important parts of your diet. Don't ever stop doing that.
Feeling that other people are following what you're doing will give you that extra motivation, and can make all the difference.

In 2009 I went from 21st to 17.5st (294lb - 245lb) purely by going from normal Coca-Cola to Coke Zero and playing five-a-side football with work collegues for 4 hours a week. I'm 6ft 4in (194cms) and now weight in at 16 stone (224lb), meaning I've lost 70lb in two years. Further more, my muscle mass has improved and I feel alot more energetic and willingness to get outside, losing weight really is win win.
If you dont need to lose weight or gain weight then you dont need to count calories. (Anes, You are 6' and what about 170lbs? You are underweight and dont want to change your body so of course you dont count calories. lol)
Hard to wrap your head around that, I know, as you are too busy trying to be witty and counter-culture.

Well I can assure you I've never counted calories in my life. It's mainly an american obsession too. I can't remember the last time I even heard the word calorie here in australia.
Having both myself, I'll fire up Wii Fit and let you know how it does.By the way, I don't have a scale at home but I do have a Wii and the Wii Fit "game" (I don't really consider this a game) and was wondering if y'all knew if the Wii Board was accurate at all concerning weight.
@ first bolded: Hah! Coincidence. Me too. ;D *internet high five*@Anes: You're right my job is a desk job, but it is doing what I like to do (Tech Support).
Anyway, I will be doing my first weight in Saturday and will start exercising then (right now trying to do some research and put together an exercise program for myself). I will let all of you know how it goes.
