As I recall, the AMD clocks at about 12% faster for CERTAIN operations.

AMD is cheaper and after you get up to 1 GHz you probably aren't going to notice much speed difference anyway.

Yes. You are correct. The 8-12% matters so LITTLE after 1ghz that it is negligible. When you are dealing with speeds of like 1.6-2ghz, 160-200 mhz makes VERY little difference.
