Network Adapter(Having Troubles)

Ok so I finally decided to mess around with this network adapter I've had sitting here for quite a few months now. Brand new never been opened. Ok so I hook it up to the PS2 and run a cable from it to my router. Now I go through the wizard or whatever it is and it asks whether I want to auto config or manually config. I tell it to auto config and it comes back and tells me the connection failed. So I try to manually config it and I'm stuck at what to do next. I've tried inputting what I think are right address for the network settings for the network adapter and I dunno if thats the problem or if its my router. I have a Linksys BEFSX41 Router. If I havent provided enough info just say so. TIA.

Well......I don't have a PS2 network thingy but maybe there are afew things you could try......

Maybe you need to get the correct settings from your ISP........On many of their websites it tells you what to enter for games consoles setup to play online.....

If you have some sort of firewall or restricted access it may be stopping the PS2 configuring properly.....

Or maybe your ISP doesnt support console online play......Its true that some internet packages dont have such facillities which is why some promote the fact that their packages are console friendly.....

Or you could even consider that either your router or network adapter is broken in some way.......if your router has multiple output ports try all of them as one maybe faulty.....also, if you can try to see if your network adapter works one someone elses machine......ofcource the chances of either being broken is slim, but its something to consider...

Sorry I cant offer anymore info......I dont have one myself to I dont know all the tech behind it.........but I hope this helps.....

Good Luck, Robin

I saw something similar...
You have to close everything & plug all the cable togheter & open everything after.

Though I don't understand much about network & stuff, but it work somehow... O_o

If your PC log on the internet automatically when you boot the modem the "auto config" function should work fine, otherwise you have to manually configure the settings.

Go to the IP of your Router, say that the PS2 is allowed to connect. I did this with my sweex router..

They dont have anything talking about PS2. They have stuff for Dreamcast. Tried those settings still nothing.

Its possible but I'm not positive on how to configure that.

I dont think that may be it. The router sees the ip(which I set) for the ps2 but still get nothing. :(

Close everything? You mean unplug and then replugin everything? Well I give it a try as I havent tried that yet.

It doesnt auto connect. I have to connect to the internet myself through my DSL icon on my desktop.

I wish it was that easy. It might be. I may just be looking in the wrong places. :boggled:

Close your PC. Unplug every cable on your router. After plug every cable on your router while your router power is still off. Boot your PC & router & try to connect again. it seems silly but it worked for my friends, lol!
