Network Gaming Help?

Hi I was wondering, on network gaming, If you need a high speed broadband connection. I have 150k ntl:home broadband. But I think that you may need 600k for Ps2 network?
If there's anyone in the uk who can help me out.
Thanks

Hi, did you manage to get your ps2 working with the 150k ntl:home package?

I have the same package and am struggling to get my ps2 to connect.
I have read that ntl are charging an extra £5 per month if you want to use the service with the playstation 2.
But i also read that there are ways of getting around this fee and was told to ask around to find out how to do it.

Does anyone else have the ntl:home 150k package and know how to connect it to the ps2?

(I think it is something to do with ntl only allowing the first MAC address used by the perosn)

Please help! :(

MAC address restrictions are fairly common. One way of getting around it is to buy a Linksys Router which can do MAC address masking, or basically it can tell your ISP that it is the old computer (shhhh ...) then you plug your computer and your PS2 into it and you're good to go.

Get the 4-Port Cable/DSL router. It works practically out of the box. There is additionally LOTS of help on the web.

Thanks a LOT for your help.
I was getting myself all stressed out thnking that I was stuck with a useless network adaptor after being told i wasnt allowed to return it.

I managed to find a way of getting around the MAC problem without having to buy a router. I just need to unplug the cable modem from the mains, leave it for about a minute and then plug it in again with the ethernet going into the PlayStation 2. Unplugging it resets the mac address.

Its just a bit annoying unplugging it then swapping over the cables every time i switch between PC and PS2. I'd rather do that than spend £x on a router tho :)

Thanks again!

Yeah, but with the router you can have the PS2 and the PC online at the same time. You won't have to go unplugging and replugging stuff all the time.

I guess we pay for convenience.

That's the reason that I bought my router, much much more convenient, and now that I have two computers, I'm really glad that I bought it.
