BMW 3-series Coupe

At the Geneva Motor Show BMW will release the new 3-series Coupe. The photo is showing the new model in full showroom trim. Power for the CC comes from a variety of six-cylinder engines ranging from 2.2 litre 180 HP to 3.0 litre 258 HP. The top of the line M3 will get a V8 4.0 litre engine delivering around 400 HP. Furthermore three Diesels will be available performing 163 HP to 272 HP

Ugly. Bring on the Audi A5.
 
What happened to the headlights? ...The transition from the skinny front to the somewhat bloated rear looks just wrong. If anybody wants to get one, just go for the four door.
 
The rear half with that line going through it reminds me of a Toyota Soarer/Lexus SC300.
 
I dont think it looks THAT bad...

If I could find a 325ci with just the stick, and the sport and cold weather packages, I would be set... Of course, when would you ever find a Bimmer with only two options on it?
 
What happened? I use to love the 3 series, but now...I can't even look at it, i'm going to cry as I go into withdrawls.
 
That's still got camouflage on it, look around the headlights and the kidneys.

It doesn't look exactly like that, I've seen a pretty good rendition of one with the camouflage digitally removed a while back, it looks a lot beter than you'd think from that pic there.
 
E46s are still the best looking 3-series' that have graced this earth. The new ones arent bad, but how do you replace a car that was considered perfect on so many levels?
 
Yeah, I agree. The 1 and 2 series cars are definatley the spiritual successors to the E46... Its a shame we wont get them in the US...
 
BMW is not going to release the 5 door here, if ever.

The 1 Sedan and 2 Coupe/Convertible WILL make it over here by '08.

Mark my words.
 
Its no looker is it - in line with the rest of the current BMW line-up!
 
It has a fat ass, but it will sell well and people will still say its one of the best cars on the road. I personally don't really like it, although the headlights aren't terriable.
 
Still partially disguised... not bad, but the rear haunch looks very heavy, especially compared to the 3-sedan. They should've slimmed it down with more glass.
 
C/D got thier hands on a 120d and they said it is one of the best new BMWs they have driven in quite a while. Why? Because it does without all the techno-dodads like iDrive, adaptive cruise, adaptive seats, adaptive steering, etc...
 
HAHA Audi has this thing pawned. So we all know that the current A4 was better than the E46 in every way. Then the E90 came out and audi was still slightly better in everything except driving dynamics which overall just gave the new 3 series the edge.

Well the current Audi A4 (B7) was just a updated/ major facelifted version of the (B6) but they both used similiar chassis. Well a all new audi A4 is due in 2007 and it will blow BMW panties off. Early reports say that its a amazing drive.

Then theres the E90 M3. Well just when bmw releases it audi is going to be realising the Audi RS5 theyre coupe version of the A4/RS4 with 450+ hp on a new chassis. It will also have DSG fitted longitudinal with the engine mounted behind the front axle.

The interior is said to make another big leap. I seriously cant wait as the current audi A4's interior pawns the mercs and bimmas for years now.
 
About the only way Audi is better than BMW now is exterior looks. BMW still sells tons despite the looks, so Audi really needs a lot more before they can take BMW down.

They're pretty good, though. You have to feel sorry for Mercedes, as Audi seems to be leapfrogging them in the Premium race.

EDIT: interiors. I forgot about interiors. The new BMW 3-series and 1-series interiors fail to excite me. So that's two things Audi has over BMW. :lol:
 
I'm a VW/Audi guy, and there is no question about it... But seriously, the A4 isnt nearly as good as the 3-series with the exception of the S4 and RS4. The cars are heavier and are much better suited to Bahn-blasting than the 3-series, and beyond that are much better city cars...

But if you care to drive with a bit more of a sporty nature, the 3-series is a much better choise. The car is much more precise and takes to your imputs much more easily than the A4...

Personally, I would rather have an A4 in my Garage, but that would be a tough and very well-thought out decision after visiting both the Bimmer and Audi dealers.

I didn't know about the Solara's beautiful existence until I was politely informed a week ago.

It's the first time I've been jealous of the American car market.

And last I heard the Camry was not a bad car.:)

But that Beemer. I wouldn't even call it bad, because that implies that it's in the same plane of thinking as good.
 
But that depends where you are. I'm sure you'd tire of our saloon (ahem, sedans) if you lived here.
