Alfa Romeo will introduce by late 2011 the new Giulia. Front wheel drive on a Giullieta modified chassis and with engines ranging from 1.4L 135hp to a 3.3L V6, based on the Chrysler Pentastar, with an output around 300hp. The premium car with sporty ambitions will directly compete with the BMW 3-series and the Audi A4.

For enthusiasts dissapointed in the front drive direction, Alfa introduces the Active Roll System which controls the suspension and adjusts the dampers according to parameters such cornering, speed and throttle. In addition the driver can choose between two presets, Comfort and Sport. The car will also utilize the DNA system already in place in the MiTo and Giulieta.

Holy ****! Good F'ing god that car is sexy as ****. FWD or not I'd so own that bad boy. I definitely approve. Can't wait to see the interior and much more can't wait to see TopGear's review of it. Got your bibs ready!

This might be a hint of a new chrysler 200... its powered buy a 300+ 3.3l chrysler engine with fiats multi-air tech and direct injection.

Highly doubt it seeing as that car is good looking and chrysler despises anything that any person under 50 considers good looking.

I kinda have this feeling that the front looks fantastic and the sides are boring. The side is very Audi-like really.

Looks amazing, shame about the wrong-wheel drive though.

If you think about it Alfa's engines aren't much more reliable than Chrysler's. At least there will be some passion and soul added to that powerplant. Ah hell, mentioned passion and soul in an Italian car thread.

Nice looking beast, but then it's got a lot to live up to in that department since the last two...

The 156 (bottom) is still one of the prettiest sedans ever IMO. Looks better without the bodykit and wing actually though, should have found a better picture... like the one below:

^Those designs where quirkier with the wedged approach. The Giulia might be better balanced but I'd like a bit more wedged corners honestly.

I don't know why but I don't like it as much as other Alfas out there. Maybe just in this particular trim the design is way too aggressive and overdone for its own good. But that Pentastar with an AWD setup should be an awesome car.

Anybody know what this is based on? I think I will be somewhat disappointed if it ends up as a Sebring in dress clothes.

The original post says that it is based on a modified Alfa Guilietta chassis.

That is one gorgeous looking car, I love it. Although I do prefer the even more gorgeous Brera/159 nose.

Right-- not going shopping with you then.

So the QV will be powered by a Chrysler-based engine and have a Giulietta-based chassis? It doesn't sound like the best plan, but I really can't judge until it arrives and we get more info.

What I can judge is the looks. It looks quite good. Not as good as the 159 but then again, not much is. Can't really expect Alfa matching that level every time, even though they are one of the top manufacturers in terms of modern design. Leonardo didn't crank out a Mona Lisa every time either.

Well, pretty is pretty, but I think that Alfa Romeo has forget how to make enjoyable sport cars...
Except the 8C, the last real Alfa Romeo for us ordinary mortals was the 75, died in 1993.
