It's a concept apparently. But everyone is calling for it to be put into production alongside the R8.

Remember when the 1987 4000S Quattro and 1985 Audi GT were fast enough? 115hp. 115mph top speed. Lightweight and fun. This Quattro weighs more than my old '69 Cutlass 455.

It doesn't look that bad but it doesn't say Aud, looks more like a Lambo then a Audi.

Audi has shown two concepts today. That isn't the Quattro. This is;

Neither do anything for me.
It looks a little better in the live pics but the 2010 one looked way better.

Forget headlights! Audi Sport Quattro Laserlight Concept to light up CES with lasers
Audi ditches the traditional headlights in its latest concept, the Sport Quattro Laserlight. Set to debut at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the Sport Quattro Laserlight Concept is a hybrid model that uses laser technology to light up the road ahead, boasting brightness three times that of the best LED headlamps.

Headlights are so 2013!

German car company Audi is prepared to debut its latest concept car, the Sport Quattro Laserlight, the upcoming International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

As such, it will be the second year running that Audi has chosen the International CES, rather than a traditional auto show, to showcase its latest technological breakthrough.

In 2013, Audi's autonomous driving and parking technologies were the highlights of the show and in 2014 the company is clearly planning to wow the crowds again.

On the surface, the Audi Sport Quattro Laserlight Concept is almost identical in appearance to the Sport Quattro Concept that made its debut in Frankfurt in September -- it's even powered by the same electric motor/V8 hybrid engine capable of pumping out 700hp.

However, it is markedly different in two respects. Firstly, as its name suggests, it users laser technology rather than boring old lights for illuminating the road ahead.

The use of lasers doesn't mean that drivers will be able to slice up slow-moving traffic ahead of them, a la James Bond. Lasers are more accurate and are three times brighter than the best LED headlamps and, even when used on full beam, are less distracting to other road users. They also have an effective range of 500 meters. That's why BMW's new i8 hybrid supercar is already using them.

But secondly, and perhaps more importantly, the car boasts what Audi is describing as a new "3D" display powered by a Nvidia Tegra 30 processor. That's the sort of hi-tech hardware usually found in top of the range gaming PCs, rather than in sporty German coupes.

As well as taking the wraps off the car, Audi is also widely expected to announce a partnership with Google and the aforementioned Nvidia, which will see the companies working together to develop in-car infotainment and other driver applications that run on a car's hardware rather than via a smartphone.

Although there has been no official announcement yet as to exactly what will be revealed, many automotive and tech experts are already dubbing the partnership ‘Android for the Car' in reference to Apple's new ‘iOS in the Car' technology that transplants an iPhone's functionality to a car dashboard.

Though exciting -- consumers want smartphone functionality in their cars, whether it be access to navigation apps, music playlists or hands-free voice calls, and car makers have a responsibility for providing infotainment functionality that is safe to use while driving -- the possibility that car companies could be forced into supporting either Android or Apple, rather than both, is potentially worrying.

In other words, Audi's making their cars more available for joyride for every teen who knows a little programming and owns a smartphone. Well done.

Everyone seems to be raging that the concepts don't really represent the last Quattro at all, having a hybrid turbo V8 instead of a turbo-5.

I'm on the fence about the whole issue. I'd really like to see Audi create a hybrid supercar but I'm not confident that the Quattro would be the best thing to base the design on. They could create a concept that harks back to the Avus Concept and the car could slot above the R8 as a flagship supercar.

Still, it would be cool to see a hybrid V8 hatchback fighting Lamborghinis and Ferraris.

It looks awful. No proportion. The mix of smooth lines and sharp edges make no sense.

It looks like a cross between a Sciaru BRZFRS an LFA and a Dodge Charger in the rear. Infact I hate it. :irked:

I think it looks fantastic. But the hybrid powertrain would be better suited in a new hypercar. Put in the turbo-5 instead and make it more stripped out.

It just has zero presence, looks like an oversized three door A3. The R8 looks so much better, more flagshipy (with a new one on the way) The Audi of Quattro era had nothing in the R8 segment so the original Quattro didn't have to do much to stand out. With the R8 and zero game-changing motosport connection to promote it, this new Quattro has little to make it stand out. Building something that resembles the R18 would make more commercial sense IMO.

Quick summary of my thoughts.

I like it- the design isn't a retro-pastiche but instead looks like what it is, a modern Quattro. And about the 5-pot debate... If it was, as the Original was, designed for rallying, it'd be a 1.6L turbo... 4-pot. The V8 is a better choice for the flagship car, and the hybrid gives it the Motorsport link you so desperately crave from your Quattro.

Does anybody think this should be the next TT? Or should Audi stick with the chopped-top Beetle vibe?

Hell to the no! I think the TT shouldn't be exactly like this but take the good parts from this and the R8 and add style of its own
