Well, I've got plenty of time right now, so here's my attempt at a write up of the Las Venturas update.
Tierra Robada
This is the northwestern most piece of the map and spans from the end of the massive Gant Bridge, and extends east to Bone County. The terrain appears to be mostly desert with mountain ranges to the east.
Near the end of the Gant Bridge is Bayside, which has a large marina where there will be a boating school. Hopefully you'll also be able to house boats for storage there.
Further east into Tierra Robada you'll encounter the Bayside tunnel, which either leads you further east to the town of El Querbrack (not sure of the spelling as the name on the map is unclear), or south down a peninsula to the Las Barrancas. In Las Barrancas, there is 'The Smokin Beef Grill' which sounds a lot like a sit down restaurant, a big contrast to the fast food outlets we have been shown so far.
South of the town is an isolated ranch belonging to someone named 'Toreno'. From the descrpition given, it sounds like he is hiding from the authorities for some reason which we will likely find out later.
North of Las Barrancas is what is likely to be one of San Andreas' most well known landmarks, the gargantuan Sherman Dam. This dam, Rockstar's take on the Hoover Dam, powers most of San Andreas, and it should be noted that it is poorly guarded. Will we get to blow it up in a big mission? I certainly hope so!
Bone County
This is the desert Rockstar has been talking about, and they appear to have delivered with their promise of there being plenty of things to do and see here! It is wedged between Tierra Robada to the west and Las Venturas to the east. The military and natural resources will play a big role in this part of the map.
At the north end of Bone County is the town of Las Payasdas, home of 'The World's Largest ****', a classic example of Rockstar's style of humor. This tourist trap is also the site of a unique jump, which is shown in a video on the official site.
Southeast of Las Payasdas is the Verdant Meadow Aircraft Graveyard, a take on a real life location in Arizona. I think we will likely be able to find the P-51 replica here, that has been seen in the trailers. Hopefully there will be plenty of other military aircraft available to fly here too.
South of the Aircraft Graveyard is a large 'No Fly Zone' which is greyed out on the map. Most people are speculating that this will be the location of the Area 51 style installation, and I have to agree with them, since this would be the type of thing that Rockstar would not pass up including in the game. Security will probably be extremely tight here. Hopefully any wayward aircraft flying over this area will be intercepted by fighters, but this obviously is just speculation. I also hope this could be an oppurtunity to try a stealthy infiltration. Lots of stuff will be going on here.
West of the no fly zone is a large satellite instillation known as 'The Big Ear' which appears to be situated on top of a large hill judging by the road leading to it (a possible vantage point to peer into the no fly zone?). This large satellite picks up strange signals, and hints at the possibility of a government conspiracy and maybe even aliens being part of the game.
Just south of The Big Ear is the town of Fort Carson, yet no details have been released about this town yet. East of The Ear is green palms, possibly a desert oasis style place. East of this is Octane Springs, which is the most likely location of a screenshot released last week, featuring CJ standing in the desert in front of oil rigs. Will CJ become an oil tycoon? Who knows...
And wrapping up points of intertest in Bone County is the Hunter Quarry. This is a massive pit with many ramps criss crossing it, probably being set up for use as bike ramps! It also appears that CJ can be employed here too, likely driving the bulldozers that are present.
Las Venturas
Las Venturas is the Rockstar take on Las Vegas, and is situated in the northeast corner of the map.
Blackfield is the southwest corner of Las Venturas, and it is a vehicle oriented area. There is the Turning Tricks Bike School here, which also has a video of it in action at the official site. The Blackfield stadium houses the infamous Dirtring, which is making a return from Vice City. Hopefully the Hotring competition will also return. The south portion of Blackfield contains the Blackfield Intersection, which is a big highway intersection and appears to be a hub of illegal street racing. I am really looking forward to this area of Las Venturas!
East of Blackfield is the Las Venturas Airport, which is San Andreas' major international hub. Here, you can also purchase plane tickets on Juank Air to the other cities.
Southeastern Las Venturas is the location of the Rockshore area, which is home to seedy motels, and low income houses, which are ripe for robbery. I'd say gang and drug activity will be very high in this area.
North of Rockshore is the highlight of Las Venturas, The Strip. This large area is teeming with casinos, raingng from the medievel themed 'Come-A-Lot' to the Triad owned 'Four Dragons' casino. Other casinos on the strip include the Egyptian casino named 'The Camel Toe', a circus themed casino, and the high end casino 'The Visage' which has very close links with organized crime. In contrast to previous casino screenshots, some released with the update show many people in casinos, so hopefully that will be the case in the game as opposed to empty casinos.
North of the Strip is the Old Strip, featuring food carts selling ice cream and chili dogs, and other businesses including a 24-7 (Rockstar's version of 7-11) and a dingy bar.
And further north is the area of Roca Escalante, the northeast corner of Las Venturas. This appears to be a suburb, since it has a large mall, featuring clothing stores such as 'Sub Urban' which sells poser clothing, and a sports clothing store.
After this release, we now have a full, complete map. Speculations about the size of the game are now becoming very close to what the actual game will be like, comparing screenshots and objects from other GTAs to the now complete map.
In this comparison created by Sip_Yek_Nod at gtaforums.com, he sizes up Liberty City's Cochrane Dam to San Andreas' Sherman Dam, assuming both are the same size (and it appears to be very likely the Sherman Dam is larger than the Cochrane Dam based on screenshots and a movie on the official site). From this comparison, it looks like San Andreas as a whole could be well over 6x larger than Liberty City! Maybe even more! And, also worth noting is that all the cities, with the possible exception of San Fierro all look like they are bigger than Liberty City if the space between bridges is eliminated.
This comparison of a screenshot of the Blackfield Intersecton with the actual map, courtesy of Yheti1 also from gtaforums.com. The screenshot was taken at high altitude (anywhere between 5-10 thousand feet for a quick estimate). According to the author of the comparison, cars on the freeway when sized onto the map take up about 1/4 of a pixel of space!
This is going to be a massive game!
*Note* I would have added some screenshots, but Rockstar's San Andreas website went down while I was typing this
