New Drift and Time Trials

I think if they made one set of time trials a one make trial it would be interesting and definitely more competitive than it is now. Right now I simply do the time trials and move on, sometimes I'll try out different cars but for me there is no incentive to try to get a good spot on the leaderboard because ultimately I know that unless I detune a race car I'm not going to stand a chance and I think the whole detuning thing is quite stupid.

i used a RUR CTR2 on the Eiger time trial got 1:08.9:tup: was happy with that i need a better rally setup for my sooby's and my evo 6! cuz i cant get the rally setup right

Anyone got a drift setup for autum ring? I could bearly get 6500 pts in the stock AEM S2000

I always use the premium Renault Clio V6 24V '00 for drifting. It'll get you the Golds easily fully tuned and it's very easy to drift with. (stock settings)

Here a suggestion for the Fuji TT :
BMW 320i Touring Car `03 @ 270 bhp , 1250 kg , 470 pp and 100% Power Limiter
Gave it a try this afternoon and was only able to get a 1:58.264. That was with everything standard. I'm going to mess around with the suspension and see what I can do. This is looking like a good challenge. 👍

You shouldn't need a specific setup to do it, I used a slightly tuned Mugen S2000 on Comfort Hards with my own settings I'd previously used for grip driving. Try a similar lower powered car (470-500 or so), just keep trying until you string up a consistent scoring set.

  1. Get the car sideways into the first corner complex however you prefer. Try not to get particularly close to the first apex, hold a decent angle around, then barely clip the next apex. Flick it right barely clipping the opposing apex, then drifting out towards the left edge of the track, you should be scoring at least 2500-3000.
  2. I tend to fient into the spiral, the rest should be fairly self explanatory. Don't worry too much about your exit, as you'll get more than enough points with a good drift around the curve. I flunked it on my last run and had to re-initate the drift, yet still scored 3500.
  3. You can begin drifting around the long right hand sweeper remaining sideways into the final scored section. It's not necessary though as an out-in-out line should score well, just take care not to fall off into the gravel, if you're not doing that or scoring next to nothing, you're getting it more or less right and should have scored enough :)

Well i manage to get score of 8992 by adding a FCK Suspension and lowered the Ride Height to -25/-25 and Anti-Roll Bars to 4/6 and Camber Angle 2.5/0.5 and Toe Angle to 0.12/0.20 LSD 15/50/35 with this i was able to get more points in sector 1&3 sector 2 was fine with stock settings gettin 3500-4000 points

Would you care to share some more set up information? I found it easy to beat the time with the specification you posted (BMW 320i Touring Car '03 @ 270 bhp , 1250 kg , 470 pp and 100% Power Limiter). I went with 15/35 in downforce to get it down from 472 to 470 PP and 250 kph in max speed on the transmission. ABS 1, all other aids off.

I was consistently under 1:56.000 with a best of 1:54.770, which could for sure be improved even more.

In the meantime, I would like to challenge you with my challenge:
a brand new Nissan Fairlady Z (Z34) '08. NO oil change, no other tuning. Equip it with sports medium tires and turn off the traction control.

The Premium Supra with about 450 - 475 bhp makes a great drifter, with a wing and plenty of camber, and I'm not all that good at drifting. Having said that, I used the Buick Special for the dirt drift @ Toscana and after about 20 minutes and a dozen or so attempts, made over 11,000. Got me to 707 in the rankings, though I'd imagine I've dropped well down since. Set the gears way low and you can change up coming out of the first corner, break traction completely and score 12 - 1500 on the second 'corner' (I was struggling to make 500 on this stretch before)

On the Fuji TT, I used a slightly detuned Wedsport ISF, for a 1:51.xxx and then the Stealth Merc SLS for a 1:50.xxx

Top Speed was set to 160 mph , 20/30 Aero and 110 Ballast.

I´ll give this Z try. :)

I used NSX Type R for Fuji TT, easy gold. I had carbon bonnet and something else, ill send tune when i get home

Buy everything expect: FC LSD, exhaust, engine tunes or any other lighting stuff only carbon bonnet. Change oil so your car should have 340hp, weight 1265 and 490pp. Suspension: -25/-25 everything stock.

The Buick Special. I think it was an award winner or something. I used it for the Toscana drift trial as well. I've never done these trials before.

I strongly recommend for every drift trial (exept the rally one) the Mazda BP FALKEN RX-7 (D1GP) '03

For the drift rally one i use the Holden Commodore.

👍

So damn annoying, I bought the Falken RX7 and made a super-stable road setup, can't be bothered to change it!

I used a gold chrome Volvo estate for the Toscana drift trial

Did Fuji first lap with the Arta Garaiya. Nice car.

Forgot what car I used for Eiger. One of the rally cars. Hated it.

Autumn Ring...still can't do it. More practice required.

I used a Mustang at toscana. Last I looked I was in the top 50 or so. In car view RULES.

Yeah the Autumn Ring drift trial is really getting on my t!ts .
Not a fan of drifiting, I normally just do them for the money/getting it done. Stuck on silver with 300ish to find for gold. I've tried big power r34's and even the speed 12 but haven't a clue how to tune for drifting. Is there a car ready to go without the need for chassis tuning that will get this done with relative ease? Going to try a z4 with a tune I found in the drift forum but if anyone has some tips/pointers please reply 👍

For the speed 12 try lowering the suspension and also the top speed. I set it to the lowest and fully tuned the engine I made 11000+ points with that set up. Going to see if I can get more points today. It takes much practice.

Just stay on the inside (touching the red/white rumble) when drifting and you score big.

@DC-Z

I'm not very good but...

I used the Buick Special. Stock with Comfort Hard and MT.
I approach the first corner in 3rd at approx 50mph and just before the sector I gun it and get tight in to the kerb with almost full opposite lock. This normally takes me though the second corner with around 2500 points and then flick into the third and through the check with around 3000 in the bag.
Second sector I approach at about 40mph still in third. Try and keep as close to the inside as poss and don't be scared to initiate a second drift. My best around here was just over 5000. Then again, in third gear, the last sector is easy for 1500-2000 points.

I golded it with a 9500 score, but have a saved replay of a 7914 score that I saved after getting my gold score...I managed a 3580 in S1 and only 2789 in S2 and 1545 in S3, but I only saved it to help a bit. Wish I had saved my top run now...

Link here

But read here first on how to import it into your PS3...

Hope this helps.

I use the Lamborghini Gallardo stock on comfort hards. Really easy.

I also asked about the setup for the autumn ring drift. Meanwhile I have been trying and I golded it. So here is the setup:

Car: TVR Cerbera Speed 12 (849HP, 614PP, 1220Kg, 94Kgm/5500rpm)
Downforce: 35 30
Weight: +200, -50
Motor: 100%
Exhaust: Race Titanium
Turbos: Turbox3 + "the other one which I can't remember the name in English"
Gear Top-speed: 310 Km/h
LSD: Standard
Suspension:
-30, +15
10, 20
10, 10
1, 10
1, 7
Camber: 3.2, 0.0
Angle: +1.00, -1.00
Brakes: 5,5
Drive Settings:
MT
Confort Soft (Front)
Confort Hard (Back)
OFF
OFF
1
+5

Note: the settings values are in the metric system. I can't remember all the modifications I made to the car, like if I changed the oil or not....:indiff:

Tips: You need 8300points for gold. This is what I believe is a good score for the sectors:
1st: 3000
2nd: 4000
3rd: 2000
Total: 9000

I used manual transmission as I could not do it in automatic. This is the gear you should use for each sector (and don't bother changing it while on the sector):
1st: 3rd gear
2nd: 2nd gear
3rd: 2nd gear

Remember to not use full throttle. In fact you must not use more than 50% of the throttle. Dose it carefully. Now the only thing left is practicing. 👍

Hope it helped. If you wanna thank me, my PSN name is Shiratori-san, and you can send me a gift (a horn, paint, helmet, etc... you got twice is already great!!!) :) lol

Cheers all for the replies! I'll give them all a go(and stop on the first one that works lol)
@Shiratori-san, expect something in the gt5 post ;)

Forgot to check for new time and drift trials. So thanks for this thread:D
Golded them all now.

Eiger: CZ3 Tarmac rally car. It said a maximum of 1200kg in the description while it meant a minimum of 1200. Had a hard time finding a rally car that was 1200 kg or less. This one was exactly 1200 kg. Had to detune the engine from 314 to 300 hp. Took me 10 laps to get the gold. Beat it by more than a second eventually.

Fuji: Lexus IS350 Wedssport. Was too easy. I'm going to check the Fairlady someone posted in here.

Toscane: Impreza WRC 2008 with a gymhkana tune found somewhere in the tuning forum a while ago. Was fun. Had a hard time golding it but I got it quick when I found out you get much higher points if you use a higher gear.

Autumn Ring: Stock SLS on Comfort hard. First tried the Impreza but that didn't work. When I switched to this car I had it in about 4 tries.
