hey whats up. im pretty new to gt4 drifting i have a nissan silvia s14. im trying to get the dam thing to drift but im having trouble can i get some help? any suggestions.

Search around GTP...use the "search" button on top and type in what you need there...You shoud find it. You do know they're going to close your thread :)

goto the drifting faw in this forum and goto settings depot. get the settings for your car from there. Theres also a guide on how to drift in that faq.

Timing/Lineing your drift???

If you specify the things you're having problems with, it'll make helping you a lot easier. I'd strongly advise the following for starters: Turn off all driver aids (TCS/ASM) and switch to N1 or N2 tires (Economy or Comfort), then look to the threads above for techique tips.

Oh, and welcome to GTP :)

One good way to learn is feint, and countersteer fast. Check out the guides in the sticky and links I posted for a more detailed breakdown of the process... It may also help to check out a few videos to see how the car behaves and how various drifters use the steering (watch the front wheels)..

I'd strongly suggest you check the sticky and read through The GT4 Drift Reference Guide by TankSpanker & Swift. It should help you on the way.

if you straighten out you either need settings for your car from the setting depot (majority of the cars cant drift unless you tune them properly) or else you're going too fast.

nope i have both off i think im coming into the turns way to fast, any good practice tracks that i can use? i also notice i might be giving it to much gas cause sometimes ill just whip it almost completely around and then ill try to countersteer and i spin out so i need to get some more practice on maybe an easier track. i was trying grand valley i think it was. im using the setting off the settings thread

The "GT4 drift movie" has a good section in the beginning of DFP usage.

Find it here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=59331

One thing to remember:

You're NEW. Very rarely are people skilled at something the first moment that they start it. So stop worrying and just practice. Experience is arguably the most important factor in drifting.

Edit: That movie is a HUGE file. So if you have a slow internet connection, set aside a lot of time to download it. I don't have the file on this computer, but only a small portion is the actual "DFP practice."

If you have money try the Suzuki Cappucino I just tried that car today. I can hit those turns easy and can through em easy.. Whew I love that car.

I know how you feel on that one. I was the same way a while back. you went the smart way by getting an S14. I made the brave mistake of trying to drift in the HKS Genki hyper silvia.... Needless to say, no luck. After an endless amount of time practicing, tuning, crashing, spinning out,and almost giving up... I GOT IT. on the subject of the S14 Try going and getting these parts:
original suspension ( i went to hks)
all drivetrain mods
N2 tires
race brakes and controller
stage 2 weight reduction
build motor to 266hp
Set suspension to:
springs: 14.0 14.0
heighth: 80 80
camber: 1.0 0.5
shocks: 8 8
stabilizers: 1 1

that should get you a good start. drifts great for me.

PM the vets for questions, thanks ske for the suggestions and the search button is your friend

Well I think...if you got the S14 now you should tune it to about 270BHP and N2 tyres and it'll drift without traction control.
If your still having trouble after doing this, it's because you didn't practice enough cause this car is wonderfull;)
