Model Range.

I've been checking it out as it appears on caradvice. It looks like the front of the old Falcon, the middle of a VE Commodore, and the rear of an Aurion. It's an improvement over the BF but I don't know if I like it. It will have to try and grow on me.

The side view just has VE written all over it! I'm not sure about this car, but I bet it will be a hit.

Interior look nice.

ATM I am really just interested in specs, any floating around yet?

+1 If there was ever a time for Ford to bring an Aussie vehicle over here its this. Taurus replacement with EcoBoost anyone?

Give us the Mustang and it's done.

New I6 make 198kw @ 6000rpm and 409Nm @ 3250rpm naturally aspirated on 95RON petrol. The XR6T gets a power and torque boost, meaning the I6 Turbo makes 270 kw @ 5250 rpm and 533Nm @ 2000-4750rpm. Those figures are running at 10psi of boost. The new XR8 V8 is straight out of the previous FPV so it makes 290kw @ 5750rpm and 520Nm @ 4750rpm. Are you all drooling over Aussie cars yet?

Only if we can put the XR6T motor into the Mustang :sly:.

I'm actually not a big fan of the styling of the Falcon. Too soft, especially at the front, and too similar at the rear to the old one. However, the interior is very nice.

Well Falcon always has one direct competitor, the Commodore. So what would the poeple of GTP choose, the FG Falcon (that's the new one as pictured above) or the VE Commodore (as pictured here)? This might help gauge which one will be successful in the looks department.

I would pick the VE personally (assuming the FG weight is roughly 1800kg), the Fords Turbo 6 is tempting but I know the I6's will be dropped coming next facelift and if I want want a Falcon Turbo I6 for tuning, I would buy a BF.

BREAKING! The new Falcon is only 10kg heavier than the old one. Meaning that the I6 variant weighs 1704kg. No news in the article on the V8's weight.

Edit: That crushes me being a Holden fan.

Edit 2: The VE SV6 weighs 1725kg in manual form.

Edit 3: And I think that Falcon weight may be a 5spd auto weight. The VE SV6 weighs 1735kg in auto form.

Well thats a breath of fresh air, still heavy but nice to see the weight not jump up too much.

Indeed, and fuel economy is supposedly up un previous models too, but Ford Falcons alway were some of the worst on fuel when compared to others it competes with.

I'm going to go Emo because Ford continues to deprive us Americans of these incredible cars. The look, both inside and out, is unmatched in North America. This car would make so much sense as a Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis replacement, ugh, it just makes me so angry!

But, alas, without EcoBoost, I still pick the VE. I think the Holden looks better personally, and I trust the LS-series V8s more than the modular crap Ford keeps using.

Yeah, Ford's V8s really have dodgy, peaky power curves compared to LS-series V8s. If you compare the new I6 of Ford against the Alloytec V6 of Holden (also known as HFV6 in Cadillac?) the Alloytec makes torque at lower RPM which is better and power at higher RPM which is also better. It'd be nice to see a dyno chart of the 2 sixes.
