Sony stopped manufacturing the Network Adapter right at the time the PSTwo came out.

True, but I still see them in EB's and other games stores on a regular basis. I guess they weren't too popular huh? :indiff:

Oh well, I bought a refurbished on with a network adapter already on it. :)

I also think this might explain the GT4-model Audi R8 Oreca and Pescarolo C60 ('05) seen in the vision GT videos. I would expect those two cars as well as Valencia in this game. That alone is enough would probably convince me to buy this.

so, you wanna kind of like saying, that this "new" gt4 will be just a Test version of some new stuff for the next Gt game??

new cars, new features...maybe cockpit view as shown in the Vision GT??:sly:

any:sly: somewhere any screenies where you can see a differents??

Network aadaptors are still pretty darn easy to find online, so if you don't have a PSTwo (The slim one, to clear that up..), then no worries. I had to buy one for my cousin the other day, so we could have LAN races, and I found hundreds and hundreds of them. There was a shop on ebay that had 144 left when I bought mine, so I see no problem there, so long as the whole world doesn't rush to buy one for GT4 Online..

I don't think I'm gonna bother.. Although the words 'GT4 Online' sound tempting, I can't help but think this sounds like an arcade mode with fiddly online capability.. x.x Plus, my router is the other side of the house and downstairs from my PS2.. like I can be bothered setting that up :ouch:

Without trying to ruin the thread, it might be best to edit the article out of the first post as well.

The information that previously appeared here has been removed under the threat of legal action from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.🤬

Yes, I think that would be a good idea...

I'm really suprised that this late tin teh game they would not make some sligth tweaks, add online, and make it a PS3 launch game, it seems like they could some simple tweaks, even along hte ranks of Vision, add more cars on teh track, and soem slight visuals to make it for PS3, If they change the single player around enough, and add some newer cars, i'd buy it eventually, Online racing could be good, it would be nice to have the oppertunity to race with better drivers then the AI.

It would be nice if they had some sort of liscenceing required to get into different online races, so hopefully people racing will be in the same class, No people who just plan can't drive racing pros, and such.

WOOOooooo.......

Not really. It'd be cool if online mode was released, but I'd have to rent it, just to see if they had made any improvements -- other than online.

Graphically, for the PS2, I don't think it could get much better. The physics need a complete overhaul. Hopefully they've added some depth to the customization, cuz racin' around in a stock bodied 350z just doesn't cut it for online mode for me.

It'd really have to impress me -- if they want another fifty bucks outta me before the PS3.

Now the world's a happier place, huh? Dig this, players...

I think the inclusion of online play will really give GT fans a chance to get what they've wanted for as long as we've wanted to learn about GT4. If PD wants to make this hot like chili, I think they'll have to come up with as many different online modes for many different racers. You can almost bank on seeing stuff like:

* Nürburgring Nordschleife own-fests
* Tsukuba battles
* any other popular races and/or race events

This is not to mention that GT4 was the first multiplayer (in terms of LAN and Online Play) in the franchise's history. Whether or not people will think that this will help more people forgive PD remains to be seen. I am talking about the ones who bashed GT4 for no online play. And I have SURELY sounded off... Texas Style on this. Just look up some of my old posts in this forum.

Amar212, you know I truly respect you here on GTPlanet (or did you know?). So thanks for this bit of information. From Post #19 from Live4speed... you might be right, my friend. For what we know, this is basically GT4 with online play. I won't question too much about if we'll actually see a few more cars or new tracks. And if there were, let me tell you. Those alone would give more reason to play the game, even if you already have GT4. I personally think that a few more cars and tracks is tempting, but it would likely mean a brand-new game to play through. I think if PD were smart (not saying they aren't), they may include a few extra tracks exclusive to multiplay. Imagine a few fantasy or real courses exclusive to this game, much like Valencia for the upcoming "Tourist Trophy."

If I think of anything else, I'll give this thread a few extra posts. But until then, share your love of an online GT4 package.

So, Sony's lawyers have seen this news eh? That was quick!
But I wonder if there is a connection between this and Sony's supposed new online service (a version of Xbox Live possibly) which has been dubbed "PlayStation HUB" by some sources? Coincedence?

Possibly, I suppose I might get it if I have a PS3 and it's all hooked up. I guess that new Playstation HUB, might be the angle they're using with the game. It's still a PS2 game, but it might work with that online service.

I am not going to buy this. How cool it may sound to play GT4 online. (Without damage maybe it isnt that cool?!)

If online play was in the first GT4, I would have bought an Internet adapter since I dont have one. But I am not going to buy the same game again AND the adapter to play online!

And dont say I should be happy that Sony is releasing GT4 online.

Gotta admit John, personally I would hate to see GT4: Online have Multi-Player specific tracks (or even cars). Would be like saying "spend more hard earned money for the game and other hardware or miss out on tracks that may well be in GT5 anyway".

Wow, that's the greatest news of 2006! Hopefully, it's true... Xlink is so much fun, and I didn't think about real online play! I love PD so much!👍

Yeah how about you send us your gt4 disc, and something cheaper like $10-20 and we send you GT4, the same (single, with possible aditions) but with online.

I see Network Adapters everywhere I go, $19.99. If you non-US guys need them bad enough I'll take orders, buy some, and sell them on ebay at cost.

Well this has become the Gran Turismo I have dreamed of ever since I got GT4.....See ya'll online if this does really come out!

In talking about GT4 and GT4 Online, I will recall an example I wish to not see happen. I've played "Virtua Fighter 4" and "Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution" on the PS2. The two games may be based on the same game, but you can't use VF4 game save in VF4:Evolution, since VF4: Evolution was pretty much a different game from VF4. You know, if PD releases GT4, my heart would tell me that the save would be compatible and that I wouldn't have to do extra missions or races. I'm looking at a model in which if I choose to do online racing with GT4 Online Edition, I want to be able to carry over my regular GT4 data to the online edition... then be able to go back to regular GT4 without any loss of compatibility. Another way around it would be to have a copy of your GT4 data, and save all of your data to make it available for this online variant. That way, all of your Save Game files from GT4 will easily be made available in GT4, only that you will now be able to Trade cars as well as do your online racing and save any results to this GT4 Online file. The only disadvantage? It would likely mean you'd have to have another Memory Card, or have more space to hold two different GT4 files on one Memory Card. With this idea, the regular GT4 data is playable on regular GT4 only and for transfer to carry over all your other data to the online variant. The GT4 Online data cannot be used in regular GT4 and cannot be transferred.

Like this idea, or don't? What twaeks would you suggest?

They should not be charging full price for this game. 99% of people who would buy this game will have GT4 anyway. Why should I fork out another extra 100$ for a game that I already have, to get one feature that I should have anyway.

If they released like...an add-on disk, which had online mode, a 100 missions, and time trials, and a few extra cool cars that are worth getting. Then sure, I'd get it. But I'm not paying full price for essentially a game I already have.

Even though I hate playing GT4, I would probably buy this and play it anyway if it was a cheap add-on (~$10 tops). Nuerburgring racing online without having to buy an X-BOX/360? I'm game, no matter how unrealistic and not-fun the driving is. :sly:

But, it sounds like it's just going to be a full-priced re-release of GT4, which is stupid, especially because it'll still sell like hotcakes.

Thanks Amar212 for the heads-up, once again! Does this mean I have to reinstate broadband in my house now?

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to amar212 again.
:ouch: Well, I tried... :sly:

I will belive this when i see it.

But the news is very promising 👍

Thanks once again amar212 👍

I can rep you :p
