i hope they tweak the physics abit, perhaps a gt5 beta engine. after GTR and GTL, the GT4 physics are abit lacking. especially the superABS. also this will be a good test for PD/sony in terms of online racing/gaming. having this game a sort of guinea pig for the PS3's online community. though i dont know why they didn't wait till ps3, then they could have released something like GT4+. that would really test out their online networks.

is there any truth at all to the idear that GT4-Online might have extra or different content ?

i would be totally ok with paying a new game price if it had more tracks or cars on top of GT4

or dropped some of the cars in GT4 to add different ones more suited to online racing

Drop some cars in GT4 and put in some suited for online racing, Badsight? I think almost any car that isn't a "Special Car" is perfectly raceable online. If some cars are dropped in GT4 with some perfectly suitable for online racing, what cars do you have in mind about adding, Badsight?

50 real tracks.....hmmmmmm........i woonder which those will be :D <please let there be Monza.....and its 10km set-up>...........

ill have to get it........i cant not get it :p online is a great move by PD :D

That's just it. The special cars have no purpose in a version of GT4 that concentrates on online play. Benz Patent Motor Wagen, Daimler Motor Carraige, Model T, etc....

Cobra S
so now we gotta shell out an extra $50 to play online? :ouch:

+1

But that big singleplayer challenge might be almost the exact same big single player challenge as GT4's. If thats the case then people will only be buying it for online.

Buying it for Online only, is there something wrong with that?

Still those claims seem odd, 50 real tracks? yeah right, must be a typo, when did PD get enough time to add in 30+ real courses, especially seeing how much of a stickler for detail Kaz is, sounds like BS to me. I think they meant more than 50 tracks, real and fantasy.

Hopefully there is no Rally racing in there, because it's just plain nuts in GT4. Not sure if they'll tweak the physics engine much, especially if it has to be able to read the original GT4 data. Not much is going to change from that standpoint. Addition of extra cars, maybe but I doubt they'd go out and look for new cars to add, maybe just ones that didn't make the cut before. If they lose cars, then it has to be the special cars that can't be driven, but I doubt that they'll take them out, since it makes little sense, the disc GT4 is on wasn't pressed for space to begin with.

If this game is actually real, then to make it worth full price, the online aspect must be deep, the prizes must make sense, and lag must never be an issue, also must accept original GT4 data, no buts about that, scoreboards and what not, and driver grades based on ability to hold your line, smooth corner entry and exits and the like.

For a 39.99 game, just has to have lag free online play and accept GT4 data, and the leaderboard/scorecard business.

Still have lots of what if's about this news, but yet we have to hear anything concrete. Will be staying tuned.

Nothing wrong with that, no-one said so. The only thing is, is it worth it? And that depends on how much you'll get out of it and what you want from it. Some will say yes, some will say no, like with any game.

if they want me to buy it , it has to end up having extra , or different content

i wont be buying it if the only change is in multiplayer

This is going to be an interresting thread.
I wonder if we can bring our fully adjustable cars online. I have lots of questions. GT4 Online Edition would have to be very very impressive to beat Forza online. They better allow all 700 cars online and all 50 tracks.
Besides, we all know there is no way this is going to come out when PD sais it will come out. So dont expect it Q2 2006. PD never releases anything on time and I would hope all of you know that by now. Remember GT4 was 1 year late from the original release date.

Sticky this, put it all over the forums!!! Great news and nice find. I love the timing too  I just finished my gallery for a while and now with this i can start GT again for the video-editing!!! Sweet GO PD!!!

Sorry to spoil all hope, but I think that image is a mock up :indiff:. I haven’t seen that image before. It looks similar to the Garage, Car Wash, HUD and other various screenshots released through the press, where the actual textual elements look to crisp for a capture, (GT4 also doesn’t have coloured tyre distinctions).

I’ll see if I can retrieve further evidence supporting this…

Actually GT4 does have coloured tyre distinctions. In arcademode it does!

Great news! I will surely buy this when/if it hits the stores, even if it´s just GT4 + online play. But I´m pretty sure it´ll be a small single player game in itself too, maybe in the vein of GT Concept, except your GT4 save will (probably) be transferable to it.
Maybe the GT4 transfer could be a bonus for completeing the little game? Online play can work out of the box, but you don´t have many cars to begin with, how does that sound as an idea? Like the 100.000 Cr transfer from GTC to GT3, but kind of in reverse.

The latest GT4 press release mentions absolutely nothing about the Greatest Hits version getting on-line, too.

I find it hard to believe, given the chance to draw on many player's wish for on-line, that SCEA would not have mentioned this new feature, at the same time, in that release.

So how likely is it that SONY will release two different versions of the same game, in a relatively short period of time?

The Greatest Hit version will either have it or it won't.
If it doesn't, then what? If it does, why not mention it?

Cheers,

MasterGT

Here is my question... would you trade the original GT4 with the online-enabled GT4, even if you're not going to play online? And while I don't want to bring up another thread, GT4 is already a Greatest Hit (well deserved), it will cost less. So imagine trading the original GT4 with the online-enabled GT4 and not have to pay so much. Again, the questions:

1.) Would you trade the original GT4 with the online-enabled GT4, even if you're not going to use the online component? Why or why not?

I would never trade in any of my GT games! Why would I? I have lots of other games I can trade instead!

quite possibly, IF

- GT4 save games can be read by GT4-O (full backwards compatibility would be nice but probably too hard to impliment)
- GT4-O has a significant update of '05 / '06 model cars (ie 100+)
- The new track from TT (Valecia?) and addition of other new or old tracks (I'm sure PD must have a GT4 version of SS11!)

If those additions are made then Sony could consider having GT4-O replace GT4, as the old version would be redundant.

The greatest hits idea is a great one, it seemed like it's to early for it to be a greatest hits, but with the online, i think it will play out well. If they can't seel a lot of the online version, the online racing will not be half as good.

I highly doubt there will be large additions of cars, I just can't see them putting that much more effort into GT4, I would think when Gt5 comes out they want it to be a huge improvment over Gt4, so if they added 100+ cars to GT4, they would just be raising their bar for Gt5 even higher (which wouldn't be bad either though)

Ok, i guess enough of my random ramblings.

true but they dont need to make the game from the gronud up this time they just need to make online

I can remember playing "Virtua Fighter 4" on the PS2. When I heard of VF4: Evolution, the game was completely re-worked with new environments, new features, and things like that, including new fighters Brad Adams and Goh Hinogami (I believe those are their names). It may be possible that PD could take the criticisms and rework the game in places. I don't think a full rework will happen, but maybe a few here-and-there touches.

I can't think of any two releases of GT that were 100% identical.
There is no reason for GT4 GH to break that trend.

Cheers,

MasterGT

GT2 and GT2 greatest hit's were exactley the same, only Gretest hit's was in a greatest hit's box. It's like the Platinum edition, GT3's been platinum for years, it's identical the GT3 barring the box. I can't remember GT1 but I'm sure tht was the same as well. So your right, theres no reason for GT4 GH to break the trend and be different to GT4. If they're releaseing a seperate GT4 online game, all the changes will go into that anyway.

I think it's a nice move from PD. This PS3 might just cost 900,- or something like that. Some predicted the price would decrease to 320 in a matter of 3 years:eek:
Now there HAS to be some truth in this, so expect the PS3 to be very expensive, and because these are just predictions, it could as well be MORE exensive. You never know...

So I think I'll have to kill some.....years with the PS2, before I can afford a PS3. I think this GT4 online is gonna sell, honestly...

Edit: Plus I think Sony will make a tremendous loss in the first year of the PS3 if the numbers are gonna be like this...
But thats also why I think this couldn't be true, Sony must see some market in this, and wont go develop something darn darn expensive that wont be sold very well.

Some thoughts on John's comment:
-They might try to improve AI too:dopey: Dont ask me why:grumpy:
-Maybe you can make donuts:D
-Maybe they will just adjust the menu's for a complete new look. It aint that hard to do that I think.
-Maybe they'll add some cool songs with it.
-Maybe they'll erase some skylines:dunce:
-LAMBO PORSCHE AND FERRARI!!!! Hahahah yeah right......

It's cool to have some hope again that this new GT4 will be different:)

Yeah but the same people that predicted thoes prices predicted the £170 PSP would be £300 or more and that the PS2 would be £500 or more at launch. I don't think theres much accuracey in thoes predictions.

Still it's not even a BIT close to what I would pay for it...
The PS2 had a perfect price when I bought it. I cant remember it exactly but it was something like....200,-? Thats the price I want to spent on a PS3.

So I WILL have to wait along time.

The PS2 lauched at £300, this company predicted it would launch at £500, they're predicting the exact same thing for the PS3, $900 is roughly £500. I mean they're only been wrong every time, why should they break that trend now.
