Now we got 20 "sets of scenery".

Nonetheless, awesome interview. Confirmation that the Tesla Roadster Sport will be in GT5. Seems there will probably be a track editor, and could even be weather/time and perhaps motorcycles.

Great interview! Good to hear some new details and that there is a lot more to announce :)

Have you finalized plans for a track editor?

Things like that I can't really discuss yet. This can be said about all the GT development. Until we're very close to release we won't have a finalized decision on a lot of things.

If there is a track editor, that will make your job easier, right? Because you can make fans design the tracks instead of your team.

[Laughs] A lot of the courses we set up, we take a long time fine-tuning the details and building the track, so it would probably be a bit different than the types of tracks the users will set up in the game.

Slip of the toungue?

Either way, I'm excited again! That was a good read.

Kaz would make an awesome lawyer. He is very good at dodging questions. When asked for specific information about how many tracks are in the game:

''there will be 20 different types of scenery the game will be set in, and in those 20 different locations there will be 70 different layouts of tracks that will be available to play.''

It is definitely sounding like there really will only be 20 unique tracks with 70 variations. It seems awfully low to me. We fans are trying to read between the lines and keep hope alive that there will be many more tracks. Every word Kaz has used pretty much confirms that there will indeed be only 20 tracks. You can call it a location, a scenery, a course, or whatever else, but it all means the same thing. There will be 20 different tracks and 70 variations of those tracks in GT5. we need to accept the reality of it and move on.

I don't see what everyone's big problem is with the "low" number of tracks. 20 is fine. I'm almost a hundred per cent certain that more will come by way of DLC.

Well if its really like i think, its not "20 tracks".
Opera Paris and George V Paris were 2 completely different tracks and i have the feeling everyone forget that the "50 tracks in GT4" were 50 including all the layouts.
Suzuka GP, East, West, Fuji 2005 GT, F, 80s, 90s, Sarthe I, II and so on were all counted as single tracks.

You're right. 20 is fine. It is a little disappointing just because my hopes are high, but it will still be plenty to enjoy and we can assume that all 20 tracks will be amazing.

Great interview, actually asks some decent questions, I wonder when he can finally spill the beans!? Bit surprised he didn't realise how much detail people are looking at regarding the game.

I read a magazine that interviewed him too and he seemed quite frustrated and almost a bit insulted when people mention DLC. He says the game will be complete with everything on the disc and they haven't even planned any DLC yet.

Finally an interview where the big questions are asked, unfortnately Kaz dodges them.
Track editor seems kind of confirmed right now, and I think weather and day/night also, but they are obviously waiting for some event for a full reveal. (But what events are still to come before march?)

Weather is iffy, But Night racing was confirmed awhile ago.

About the tracks it sounds to me like this. Read it again.

"At SEMA we still can't talk about the details yet. As I mentioned before there will be 20 different types of scenery the game will be set in, and in those 20 different locations there will be 70 different layouts of tracks that will be available to play"

the locations KY is referring to are countries. like.. 20 different countries over the world, with 70 tracks world wide. That's hopefully what he means when he says locations.

like for example 2 locations would be Japan and America.. but there could be 5 American tracks and 6 Japanese tracks. (just using those figures for an example by the way). So if there's 20 locations that could be Asian countries, America, Australia, European countries and whatever else you've got. then 70 tracks in total.

I knew bikes had a chance in Gran Turismo, but we probably won't see them until GT6. Of course, if we, the fans, want them badly enough.

Even though I don't have anything against bikes, I'd honestly rather see them in a separate game, i.e. Tourist Trophy 2.

KY uses text speech haha

"there were a lot of ppl who worked on that car." ppl? lol

I think it was more likely that the interview was transcribed in shorthand and then rewritten for the article, and the "ppl" was just an oversight.

Motorcycles in GT? WTF? Peoples' expectations are getting way too high...

I'm seriously impressed! That interviewer really knew the right questions to ask!👍
great interview!!!
You know the interviewer is asking the right questions when Kaz answers with a: [Laughs] That's something else we can't really talk about yet
Hehe!:D:tup:

Wow you guys take things to literally.. I was kidding about Kaz using text speech. Anyways finally an interview that asks what we want to know.. i have a feeling the IGN staff checked the site out before the interview.

Honestly, Gran Turismo, as a whole, can be everything auto-racing. It can be the best racing game for any type of auto-racing and the best game for tuning/customizing. GT5 seems to be a step in that direction.

I'm not sure if this is too much of a venture for PD, but I can see it in my head and I can see it working out pretty well. Still, I love cars the most, but I wouldn't DESPISE seeing bikes.

Perhaps the IGN staff did check out GTP before the interview, that would make sense.:)
AS for bikes in GT5, perhaps they could make it possible to swap replays between the games, that way you can verse ghost replays of bikes and cars!:D:tup:
