With WRC and NASCAR it is really gonna be hard to drop the track count. but 20 locations sounds to me like a specific track, if it meant 20 countries i think they would say something like: "GT5 will feature 20 countries 70 tracks and 119 veriations."

Honestly, Gran Turismo, as a whole, can be everything auto-racing. It can be the best racing game for any type of auto-racing and the best game for tuning/customizing. GT5 seems to be a step in that direction.

I'm not sure if this is too much of a venture for PD, but I can see it in my head and I can see it working out pretty well. Still, I love cars the most, but I wouldn't DESPISE seeing bikes.

Nailed it. 👍

I'd rather see bikes in GT than see a new Tourist Trophy. But maybe that's just me. It'd give the game a whole lot more variety, and it'd be pretty interesting to have the choice to start the game by buying either a car or a bike.

IGN being mainstream game media site really asked some good questions, many what we ourselves have been dieing to ask. As expected KY dodged most of them and this time told us straight out he can't talk about it, but it was a great interview anyway.

We have to remember there is still 5 months before release so we can't expect too much deep details, although it looked like he almost fully confirmed track editing.

As for tracks, clearly something is going on and 20-70 is just a figure they have supplied with the basic feature list. I think track numbers will not be so easy to count with various stages (rally) etc so this is a simplified number that we will have a deeper look into closer to release. It seems to me that tracks are not quite as defined as previous GT's.

Kaz would make an awesome lawyer. He is very good at dodging questions. When asked for specific information about how many tracks are in the game:

''there will be 20 different types of scenery the game will be set in, and in those 20 different locations there will be 70 different layouts of tracks that will be available to play.''

It is definitely sounding like there really will only be 20 unique tracks with 70 variations. It seems awfully low to me. We fans are trying to read between the lines and keep hope alive that there will be many more tracks. Every word Kaz has used pretty much confirms that there will indeed be only 20 tracks. You can call it a location, a scenery, a course, or whatever else, but it all means the same thing. There will be 20 different tracks and 70 variations of those tracks in GT5. we need to accept the reality of it and move on.

Lawyer? No. Congressmen, yes.

The problem I would see with bikes being in GT5 is that using a wheel would feel too darn unrealistic with that. I may be getting a bit picky with this, but I wouldnt really like switching from controller to wheel mid game... Thats just me.

I am pretty sure we will get Tourist Trophy 2 (Kaz has already said TT1 bikes were modeled originally with PS3 in mind) and not have bikes in GT5, this is how I would want it anyway.

There is no way this game will have just 20 tracks. It has to be 20 countries with 70 tracks. Just the way Kaz is wording it has people all riled up.

70 layouts means 70 tracks people. That's alot you know. Although I'm still also confused on the 20 location/scenery part.

But a layout defines a track like Suzuka East course, west course, etc.

This 20 track issue really blows, as it means we already know all the tracks to be included. Too damn confusing... Damn you KY. Would you mind explain things some god damn time!?

He will, we have roughly 5 months until Japanese release, as he said it is too early to discuss right now.

Kaz is putting too much effort into the "20 sceneries, 70 layouts", "20 locations, 70 layouts", "20 ____, 70__" to have only 20 tracks... Hes just playing mind games people!

Then why not just call it tracks? And what the hell is a scenery?

Man Kaz dodges questions like a Rogue.
IMO a scenery is a background, a LOCATION, not a country. For example I've seen 2 different backgrounds for Tuscany: San Gimignano (the plaza in the main menu) and San Galgano (the cathedral with no roof in the 458 italia teaser). I've been there many times, I'm half tuscan, and they're pretty far from eachother. Another background in Tuscany is the road with corn fields (E3 rally stage + 458 teaser) but I'm sure it belongs either to San Gimignano or San Galgano.

Im starting not to care about the 20 track issue... as long as we Dont have "14" versions "hint hint" of a mountain track, to boost the track numbers...

This is what I find interesting.

Has it been decided if weather or time changes will be in the final game?

Technically it's already possible to do in the game, it's just how we're going to have that have meaning in the game.
So apparently, having working weather and daytime transitions isn't hurting the games performance, or at least not much. This was something I was very curious to know.

By "having meaning in the game," that undoubtedly means enduro races or special weather stages. Or is he still pushing for the most polished looking rain in a game? I guess we'll find out in a few months.

Oh yes, and as far as I know, the next big game get together is the Game Developers Conference in February.

Or the Nurburgring chopped into 5 pieces...;)

Anyone complaining about anything about GT's graphics needs to be lined up and shot.

Seriously.

the locations KY is referring to are countries. like.. 20 different countries over the world, with 70 tracks world wide. That's hopefully what he means when he says locations.

like for example 2 locations would be Japan and America.. but there could be 5 American tracks and 6 Japanese tracks. (just using those figures for an example by the way). So if there's 20 locations that could be Asian countries, America, Australia, European countries and whatever else you've got. then 70 tracks in total.

God how hard is this? There are 20 locations, i.e. 20 sets of textures of which 70 tracks are made. It is not rocket science people..

Personally I am fine with it. Especially with the online racing aspect, think of how hard it is going to be learning all those tracks.

I just noticed from the IGN interview video footage the G37 has a flatscreen TV along with subs in back....

OMG TV's installs confirmed!!

why do people still fool themselves into thinking this way? I mean it is pretty apparent at this point what the whole 20 locations, 70 tracks means. Kaz is not dodging the question, some people are just LOOKING for ways to keep their deluded dream alive...

There are 20 locations. meaning Laguna Seca would be one location. Le Mans would be one location. New York would be one location, Daytona would be one location.

NOW, for example...Le Mans would have the current circuit, the old circuit (no chicanes), and the Bugatti circuit....now that would be THREE (3 tracks)...Daytona would have the Oval track, and the road course for two tracks.

Now, will they count the reverse of each as separate tracks? I do not know.

Given KY's past history. Not even his words can be believed. It's sad, but true.

I would say that's unlikely, but you can never tell with KY/PD.

It is somewhat disheartening to think about there being only 20 locations... because you could probably name all 20 offhand. It outright eliminates the desires of many (mine included) of including more historic and overlooked venues. I think what most people are hoping for is that it was an inaccurate translation or a play on words that we haven't exactly figured out yet.

Remember, though, DLC is always a possibility - and who knows, the rumored "track editor" may be robust enough to actually allow creation of full tracks from scratch.

Theres 70 tracks. 20 locations. theres not 20 tracks. Seventy. I may only be a dumb Aussie I'll admit that, and yes I do live in an upside down country which probably means my brain is upside down.. but I bet anyone on here theres 70. include all your.. different versions, chicaine, no chicane.. reverse whatever blah blah.

As DragoonRaven said you could name them offhand if it was 20.

That and I NEVER think of the worst or be all "ohh wo is me theres only 20 booohoo... Seriously, theres 70 and thats it. I will not be corrected.

About the tracks it sounds to me like this. Read it again.

"At SEMA we still can't talk about the details yet. As I mentioned before there will be 20 different types of scenery the game will be set in, and in those 20 different locations there will be 70 different layouts of tracks that will be available to play"

Exactly how it should be interpretered and i`d bet my left nut it`s 100% right 👍

I can't believe that people still discuss that "20 tracks" nonsense. Stop with it until you are really stupid, you have perhaps too much time when you do it. GT5 Prologue alone brought us three new tracks, GT4 had about 40 tracks, so 70 tracks including variations for GT5 is perfectly matching. Why the hell would they made only 20 tracks during six years? That would be a big discredit for them.

I just saw few really beautiful driver views during that video! Wow! No game of today is going to look like this.

I fear many of you will be disappointed.

But me, expecting 20 tracks, meaning I can only be satisfied or overwhelmed by the number of tracks.

If you have low expectations, you will never be disappointed.
