If we're going by mean or median determination, then almost everything will be merely cool or uncool. If we go by mode, as we do now, we usually get the center of the curve, which is what we want.

Besides, rating cars as 77% cool is not cool.

There are very few cars which don't follow the bell-shaped curve (as I remember... there were just one or two?) so the system works. I'm disappointed that some of my picks didn't make it... but hey, thems' the breaks.

Edit 2: Never mind, I can't get the maths to work for every result, specifically quite extreme examples of non-bell shaped curves, when we have very steep extremes and little in the middle. I admit defeat, and will continue to vote if my vote will make any difference to that specific car. I don't want to continue shifting my vote against my opinion in order to have a bearing, so I simply won't vote on those.

@ Joey: I think that the pictures in the OP should also link to the threads that the voting took place in. Just a suggestion.

I've thought about doing that but the coding involved makes my head hurt. Maybe one day when I'm bored at work.

I thought about the same thing, but it seems not many people are posting much in old polls, and thanks to the written list, finding an old thread with the search button isn't to painful. Often you can lift the model name such as 'countach' and then just stick cool on the search with it and it comes up pretty sharp.

This is true, search is fairly easy with the text list. I've also thought about adding a link to the Wikipedia page so people can find out more information about the car. Maybe next week when things are slow at work and I need something to occupy my time while I'm waiting to process things, I can cook something up.

Why not vote anyway? If everyone had the same attitude as that we'd end up with nobody voting in the category they didn't think was going to win. It'd make the whole thing a bit dull and it then becomes unrepresentative of true opinion.

I'm aware, but I always jump in the polls late in the day when the result is as good as done, if one car is 10 votes ahead of another category, but 30 ahead of the one I want to vote, it makes my vote void when we're already at a high number of voters. Unless I have particular strong feelings on a car, which I would then express in words where it could actually make some sort of interesting debate.

^ Just don't look at the results before you vote. 💡

I do so I can know if my vote is even remotely relevant to the final result, I want to make my vote count in the cars final result, so say if I think a car is uncool, but only 2 votes for uncool, but 40 for seriously uncool (extreme example but still), then I'll place my vote in seriously uncool so it lands in the category closest to my true opinion.

Just as a such as a suggestion, but can the pics on the cool wall be linked back to the relevant topics?

Is it just me or did a car just disappear from the seriously uncool category? The Porsche is gone.

It's just you. It's still there.

It did take a little while longer to load than the others though so perhaps you just didn't give it enough time. Don't worry, it's still horrifically uncool.
