Oh get over the comparison, they Ferrari won just because of the Prancing Horse. You know that horse probably has the most prestige in the automotive world.

As for the V6 in Accord, most if not all of the competitors offer it. Chevy Malibu/Impala, Toyo Camry, Nissan Altima/Maxima. Its nothing special, really in my opinion.

The recent styling for Honda/Acura just makes me :yuck: The Accord looks the blandest in its history, with a fat body (a 98 Accord looked the best), Pilot is the most bland SUV I've seen around, TL is just a copy of TSX without a proper nose and a mouth, and TSX has element of RSX in the rear. Oh the RSX looks very unoriginal, especially the tailllights; 4 round lights...hmm...💡 Corvette!

Other examples - Odyssey looks REALLY, REALLY fat and ugly; the previous-gen one looked better by a billion miles! The Ridgeline - :yuck: :yuck: the ugliest offering by Honda EVER! Not to mention a copy of Chevy Avalanches design. Im glad they didnt copy the Midgate as well, or that would be plagarism in the biggest scale. I mean, look at the front. From the side. Its disgusting design. The S2000 - I dont mind the style, just the front a litle bit. The new Civic - it looks like a minivan from the front bumper all the way to the A-pillar, like Car & Driver noted. RL - the most handsome RL ever, but sadly I havent seen one around yet. This is probably the only car I ever liked from Acura aside from the previous-generation 3.2TL.

Why is it that cars from so many manufacturers look better a generation or two back? Just noticed.

Do you know why the Cavallino Ramparte has the most prestige in the world? Because Ferrari makes damn good cars. Youd have to be an idiot to think that it Ferrari wins so many comparisons because of the badge.

Eh? So youve got a opinion? Just because you think they look bad doesnt mean the whole world does. I bet alot of people disgree about the TSX and TL. Great looking cars in my opinion.

Here's what I wrote:

And you can get it in a stick. With the V6! How many of the Accord's competitors offers that?

It is rare for a car in the Accord's segment to offer a MANUAL TRANSMISSION with the high power engine option, in this case a V6. Since we're talking about Honda's ability to appeal to an enthusiast, I reckon that's pretty important, don't you?

Of the cars you mentioned, only the Maxima has it.

You can get a 5 speed manual in a Camry, but only with the 4 cylinder. No manual option exists for the Impala. No manual option exsits for the Malibu or the Malibu Maxx. Even if you order the hotrod SS option, you still get a 4 speed auto.

How about Grand Prix? Auto only. Buick Lacrosse? Auto only. Etc, etc.

You can get a G6 GTP in a stick, but it is much smaller than an Accord.

Because most people are generally resistant to change. You can make this same exact statement 10, 20 or 30 years ago and you will find plenty of people to agree with you.

...Well, up untill last year you could have gotten the Jetta or Passat with the VR6 and a six-speed manual. Hell, you could have ordered the Passat with the W8 untill 2004, and it still is one of the greatest sleeper sedans ever built.

Technically the Pontiac G6 is a compeditor to the Accord, but as you said, it is a bit smaller. Its far better suited to compete with the "world" Accord, the Acura TSX, but the GTP gave it a shot... Of course, it came up short in the last comparison test in Car and Driver. That test had the face off between the Pontiac G6 GTP, Acura TSX, Honda Accord EX V6, Mazdaspeed 6, and VW Jetta GLI... The GLI won the show, with the Accord EX finishing in second, and the TSX in third. They said the GTP was not a bad car, but in a comparison between the rest of the cars, it just couldnt show how good it was... Performance was generally in the top three, but when it came down to it, it was the interior and transmission that killed it...

Alright. Time for clearing up some mess.

Some people will choose a car based on badge, some wont. Like you said. However, a person likely to buy a 130 grand car will know at least a bit as to what Honda is and what Aston Martin is. So, they will naturally understand that Honda is a Japanese brand, and Aston Martin, well, they'll have some trouble, but its an English brand.

The new NSX will be a much better car than its predessor, but, it will never match Aston's interior or exterior in terms of elegance. Just look at NSXs interior. Every car magazine criticized the interior at some point for being very old; in fact the basic design, layout, etc hasnt changed since 1989. Yeah, Aston's interior buttons might be hard to read or the tach swings in a awkward direction, but it is elegant, tasteful, and beautifully made. You don't see much elegance in NSXs interior. Astons interor is a much better place to spend time in than in NSXs bland, timewarp cabin. Hopefully Honda learned its lesson and remembers to update its cars' interior once in a while.

As for you saying that DB9 isnt aiming very high, it is aiming high. Aston has just bounced back from an all-time low in the '90s thanks to the DB7, and now the DB9 takes it even furthur. If they slacked off at this point, then how would they recover and become strong again? Thats why Aston has developed 3 transmissions to suit any buyer's taste (manual, auto, paddleshift manual) as well as both convertibe and coupe body style. All NSX had was a targa roof, and a auto 'box that slurped around 40hp (if Im right) from the total output of 280hp. Thats a huge number for an underpowered exotic!

And if the name NSX had so much prestige, why didn't people buy them? Its best-ever year was (I think) '91 which it was still fresh 2 years after its introduction. In '05, the novelty has worn off, and without prestige or anything to back it up (performance, power, price...) it died. And btw Honda has hinted that they might not reuse the NSX name (not sure now though...are they gonna use that name or discard it? Anyone know for sure?), so clearly they needed to distance the successor to their failed previous attempt.

1st off, get your facts straight.

The NSX was shown in '89, but wasn't released until 1990.
2nd, the best years sat between '93-'95.
3rd, there were TWO transmissions. Honda wasn't stupid enough to not supply its flagship with only an Auto.

There was a 5-speed Auto, and a 6-speed manual.

BTW, Targa or not made no difference besides weighing the car down.

The NSX, as said, was NOT meant to be owned by everyone. Like Fisker, it was meant to be owned by those who wanted something different from Ferrari.

Also, for a car that could be considered THE most underpowered supercar ever, it did pretty d*mn well for something that stayed at 280Horses and outlived the Diablo, I'd say the NSX did the exact opposite of failure.

The NSX was not known for power, but for handling on the tracks. The NSX-R '03 is one of the greatest track cars ever built and the times show it.

BTW, how's that for a company to make the 1st Aluminum car? I'll give you a race when your Ferrari is rusted and my NSX is still there.

Here is some new information:

NEW DETAILS EMERGE ON 2009 HONDA/ACURA NSX
The 2009 Honda/Acura NSX will target the Ferrari F430 and Lamborghini Gallardo, according to Britain’s AutoExpress magazine. Currently, the automaker is said to be testing two “stunning” prototypes — one with a front-engine layout, and one with a mid-engine, like the previous model. The car will have a 500 horsepower V10 and all-wheel-drive — as indicated by previous reports — and will also set the stage for a new design direction at Acura, according to AE. Recently, Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport said the new NSX would be something of a rand tourer and target Aston Martin. Given the use of a high-revving V10 engine, we tend to agree with the AutoExpress analysis. (Pictured right is a Honda supercar concept that might give some hints to the design of the new NSX).

I know that Honda offered two gearboxes, but I was mentioning the auto that slurped so much power. Hell, I will call myself the stupidest car guy ever if I didnt know that there was a manual box available for NSX.

I won't argue with the handing part of the equation.

M-Spec, I didnt know you included MT for the criteria. I need to read the posts carefully again :indiff: . MazdaSpeed 6 offers MT too but it came up short against Accord in the comparison.

As for the badge, Sagaris, you are an idiot because you called others an idiot. Name-calling isnt a good thing to do. It just p*sses off the other person and then the fight escalates. So, be a smart person, and try to resist calling others idiot. There are plenty of people who buy the car just for the badge, such as the C230 Kompressor Hatchback. That thing has a built quality worse than Civic, and yet people who were stupid enough bought them. Why? The three-point star. M-B has one of the worst build quality in the market these days in some segments of the market, and I know that because my dad works at a dealer. The lure of the three-point star, I might say.

Where it says AWD, I hope its similar to the skyline AWD system, most likely an evolution of the SH-AWD. The biggest thing that worries me about such a system is weight and if itll be worth the effort for Honda.

I apologize. Yes, people do buy cars based on their badges, BMW 1series and Mercedes Aclass are fine examples of that. But to say that big time Auto magazines will give a company a win in a comparo because of a badge is much much rarer. If anything, magazines will have patriotic bias as all the editors do usually sare the same nation. Brand preference isnt a factor.

:) Aplology accepted. Im OK as long as people realize that name-calling isnt the smartest thing to do, since Ive been "lectured" by Famine also.

As for the patriotic bias, definitely 👍 I never thought about that, good point.

I'm not going to disagree with you, but I do sometimes think Magazines will pick a car cause of its Marque over another.

If anyone read the F430 Vs. The Exige test, I think the Exige one and if I remember correctly, there was quite a lot of praise for the Ferrari compared to the Exige. But it's been a while since I've read it.

SH-AWD With a V-10?
It will easily be able to rival Aston Martin and Lamborghini.

And don't forget, in the dieing days of the NSX around 2001 (Oh wait...the start?) it's engine response and weight reduction technology had become State-Of-The-Art (Even though the price was nearly unbearable)👍

Hering all this, hopefully, the new Honda Supercar won't have the world's lowest re-sale value:tup:

Now where did I put my wallet.....

What do you mean in the start? The NSX took off after people read it could kill off the 348 in a race. It's death started right around the 360 Modena time when it's losing battle with the 355 got worse after the Modena.

True, yet I havent much researched much of the NSX's history but yes, I wasn't exactly corect there though.

It's an interesting automotive debate though:tup:

Near 500HP and AWD has only limited the Gallarado, so we will see what happens here. Honda is going to have to be very agressive with the weight/luxury trade-off in order to compete with the high-end Italian, British, and German models.

Do you all potentially seeing this car actually compete or even surpass the European cars in its class?

The Ferrari 430 is a hot potato, and Porsche keeps on cracking hits out of the park with the performance variants of the 997. I don't think the NSX successor stands a chance at beating them.

I think it'll end up being more of a Gallardo or R8 rival.

I completely forgot about the R8. Honda would have a much better compeditor in terms of price (and presumably performance) with a car like the R8RS.

Unforunately, that is where Lamborghini needs to up the Gallardo.

As the Murcielago starts to gain it's variants (this about the correct time anyways compared to the Diablo), the Gallardo needs to start as well.

I'm not talking about Spyders or SEs, but actually models, a GT or SV of sorts. But we'll save it for another topic.

Now, I DO think this can take Aston's DB9. While a fantastic car, I really think the next-gen NSX can take it given it makes 500 horses on the spot, hell even 400.
And I think it can take Ferrari...You forget, the '03 NSX-R was no push over and easily rivaled the 360 CS models on the right conditions.

If the handling and technology carry over to this, and I know it will, I do see the next-gen NSX becoming a F430 rival.

Bah, keep it mid-engine, I say!:sly:

But c'mon, if you don't think a 500Hp V-10 can't keep up with that 483Hp V-8 just because it's coming from the NSX, you're crazy.

Theres no question that the NSX replacement is going to be a compeditor, but I question the fact that they would be able to take on the F430 in terms of performance, the Aston DB9 in looks/luxury, and the Corvette Z06 in terms of value. Back when the NSX first came out, it was considered to be a "good deal," and I doubt this one will fit in the same category.
