Wow, I've never heard so much lamenting about the PS2's weakness from a developer...

Can anyone explain what "Twin Ring Motegi's 'Active Safety Park'" is?

*waits (im)patiently for TGS*

Well the ps2 is limited. I love the idea of borrowing money to buy cars or enter races. Looks like gt4 will be deep in the tuning aspect. That's good.

Well, we now know why GT4 was delayed so much, KY was doing 800 laps on the ring... :odd:

So he didn't confirm racing modifications are available or not ?
No, he didn't. He mentioned nothing about racing mods, like what we had in GT2, but he did mention the aero parts. But, he was very vague if they would even make into to the game. He said the same thing about it over a year ago. So, why couldn't he figure this out by now? He had an entire year to develope this feature, and it sounds like he did nothing with it. I say it will be scrapped.

I was hoping racing modifications will make it into GT4 , even just for +100 cars will be great , but after reading the damn interview I have a feeling they won't. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

because of the OLD ps2 limitation, ky can either go 4 the sheer number of cars - or exterior racing mods and alot less cars- personaly i hope he suprises us all...

I surely prefer the second option , racing mods will actually double the number of total cars.

The friction coefficient of dry ice is around .09 (Ok, .1).
The friction coefficient of wet ice is about half of that, .05.

Snow has a range: about .25-.35.

In the early part of this (so called interview) he said car and tracks were basically finished, then at the end he said they will be adding cars and tracks up until release.......contradictory, I call BS on this, someone has got way too much time on their hands. Guys, wait until TGS to get a better idea of whats happening with GT4.

no it won't, it will simply change the way a car looks, but have little impact on the way the car performs. I'd rather have more cars anyday, it offers variety and the ability to challange other people with weaker cars to make things interesting.

and "dappadarealest"....go play NFSU or something. Aero mods are good. Body kits are for kids.

I seem to remember that Racing modifications actually changed your cars quite significantly... Generally the main reason was that you could triple the standard Downforce and lose weight?! (And also changed the look!!)

DFP here I come!

Same as you buddy ! I was planning to buy it, but I just think i'll get one right in the next weeks.
I was also considering upgrading it for my computer with a few accessories from frex.com like a clutch pedal.

Yes, they did. It was also very nice to see I could mix up the racing parts on thre racing moded cars for normal parts to lower the cars HP. That way, you could enter it what ever race you wanted (HP restricted races). The normal race cars could not have their parts changed at all. This limited them to their HP rating, which could not be lowered.

Yes indeed...

In fact weight reduction and tyres were some of my earlier purchases when building a car up... Having the extra grip made up for the lack of HP early on in the game... and also set your car up a lot better for when you could afford the extra power... (I always found that one of the best and cheapest upgrades was the triple plate clutch tho!)

man....I donno wether to sell my normal driving force and buy the DFP ,or keep it...
or buy the DFP AND keep the driving force.

I know he'd beat me, but I think I could keep up with him. I'm a pretty good driver; play GT3 everyday. :scared:
98cobra, I tried to PM you and email you, but you're not receiving any kind of messages, so I have to tell you publicly:

Yes, and don't forget the racing flywheel. For around 1,000 credits, it really was a cheap yet excellent racing part. The computer chip was usually a first part purchased, along with the racing flywheel and a first stage weight reduction. Next, came T3 tires, a semi-racing suspension, racing exhaust and then a racing tranny. Then, I would finish up the engine mods, or turbo mods. The racing suspension, and the final weight stage was usually the last part/mod to be purchased.

Computer Chip, Exhaust, Clutch and Flywheel were my first... then tyres and weight... Then Brakes and suspension... then pile on the power...

I never usually bought the intermediate parts like semi-racing suspension or sports exhaust as I opted to just race the next race with what I had and save my money for the full version when I could afford it... Obviously the Turbo & NA tunes were different matters!!

It's best to go for the proper racing parts and skip the sports and semi-racing, that kind of makes thoes bits obsolete unfortunately. They could go two ways to make them used more, 1 force you to tune your car in stages ie you have to buy the sports suspension before you can buy the semi-racing, and you have to buy that befoer the racing. That would be very frustrating and unrealistic though, the other option would be to have just the sports parts availabe at the start of the game, and as you progress more better parts become available, which I wouldn't mind but I know there are some that wouldn't like that idea. As for power hike parts like the turbo's and intercoolers, you just need to fit whichever one puts your cars performance in the right braket for the competitoin your entering it into.

You may not know this, but KY always adds stuff up to the last minute. To him, a GT game is never "done," it's just "time to release it." What he meant by the statement in the interview is that they have enough cars and tracks finished to make an acceptable release, but they will keep adding stuff as other stuff is also being worked on.

I'd say sell the older one. It would only be used for player 2, and anyone hardcore enough to use a wheel for GT4 would want to use the Pro one anyway.

not bad... but maybe better, and this assumes race mods are back, that you can only buy racing parts for race modded cars.

And not all cars have all parts available... could you readily find a racing flywheel or clutch for a Midget II? Maybe you could, but who would ask for that IRL? ;)

Another idea would be to have the racing parts even more expensive, so early on the sports and semi-racing parts seem more attractive due to cost.

PS2 Limitations? So it have to be magic that BurnOut3 looks so good?!

if you think about it Brunout 3 only LOOKS good. it`s got noe sense of realism whatsoever. and it seems pretty simple built up. played it for a couple of hours today(5-7) and it`s good entertainment but a very simple game :)

but back to topic: woho! finally got my silver PS2 today. got GT4:P and will get the BMW demo tomorrow. and i can`t WAIT until GT4 comes out.

and i belive KY is telling the truth when he says that they will be adding more and more stuff until they release it. altough i woudl prefer to get it now and rather get some kind of "expansion pack" with any new cars or tracks or anything that would come out later :P
