I've found a test that has taken first place in the most annoying test category.I have 3rd place in the IA10 test. I can't believe anybody drives the way you have to to win the race in a real race. The driving Simulator?
I know I will eventually take first place. It's just the AI cars driving all over the track waving back and forth that eventually get you disqualified are like I'm playing an arcade game. I can't try anymore tonight after 5 10.5 hour shifts in a row kind of takes all the fun out of the game

Wow that sucks, but keep it up you'll make it. Just try to overtake car on the outside and everything should be fine. I had most problem with the 1000m braking test ^^;

for braking tests turn brakes up to 10/10 if you have a DFGT.
Works super-awesome!

I agree. And just wit until the S-license, it is basically like A-10 10 times over.

What I really don't like about these tests is that it forces you to overtake many cars in a short amount of time, basically encouraging overly aggressive (you could say unsafe) driving. All the opposition is lapping much slower than you so it doesn't even teach how to properly overtake. It is like being in this year's Mclaren Formula 1 car and the challenge is to pass all the Lotii, Virgins and HRTs in one lap from last place.

That didnt work for me, however I have like 100 tries with abs and 3 without abs lol, super easy without abs, the car accelerate faster and brake faster.

Is this the 2 full laps of Grand Valley license test? I spent so much time trying to pass this until I decided not to try and win the race, but instead try to get bronze. :(

It's a license test, which means it's both a test of ability and it's meant to teach you something.
This one in particular, just like the S tests is meant to teach you to overtake cleanly opponents that don't care crap about you and will defend their line. Which is actually a quite crucial thing in racing, and something you'll need to be able to do if you want the slightest shot at racing online against anyone else than totally uncompetitive gentlemen.
Bringing things further, it helps a lot in learning to squeeze every little bit of speed out of a car in traffic conditions and in figuring alternative effective lines besides the ideal ones, thing that you can't do as easily just practicing in an empty course (and that's why the best hotlappers often aren't the best racers, they have the ideal line so nailed into their head that they won't avoid an obstacle even if it'a a giant truck moving at 10 mph, this kind of test helps you to avoid falling in that mindset).

On top of that, it's very doable.

I find it funny how many people rage about licenses or challenges without even trying to figure why they have been devised that way, and how useful they are. Bottomline, license tests aren't mandatory. Golding them isn't mandatory either. If you want to learn to drive and race, then they're very useful, effective and well devised. Otherwise, you can just as easily move on to something else. Nothing you get from licenses can't be gotten just by racing and buying it with credits.

I agree wiht most of what you're saying Abriael, except that the x-1 challenge dont follow that rule, it's just stupid in my opinion, very rewarding but stupid. Lots of people wont be able to complete that challenge.

I think the Nissan GT-R Academy version '09 is not available through the dealership.

Getting bronze is most definately doable. I personally don't think the game should be geared so that just anyone can get all golds. Where would the value of getting a gold be at all if that was something everyone can do?

the X-1 challenge has at least three purposes, and that's taining your reflexes, your precision with the throttle, steering and especially shifting, and ultimately your ability to keep focused (and that's why it's two laps and not just one).

If it's like the 370Z academy, then it's just a different skin and slightly different aero. You can get the GT-R, putting the same parts, and imitate the same setup, and you'll have exactly the same car, without the horrible GT academy stickers.

And you'll probably get it by taking part in the academy challenge anyway.

I got Silver on IA-10, and for the entire S-License, I golded that before I even golded B and A licenses. It's not hard, you just need cutting-edge precision.

It is the 2 lap battle around Grand Valley . I have the bronze and the silver and I'll do it until I win, then I can move on to the s licenses

Well, I'm really getting an strange lov-hate relationship with NASCAR after a lot of failed attemps to get even bronze in the last Challege in the NASCAR School, trying to overtake with drafting in Daytona wiothut losing traction and power it is pretty hard :scared:

I got a Gold on one of the S class tests on the Top Gear track by, pretty much, being as aggressive as possible, late breaking everywhere, and doing handbreak turns around Bacharach and Gambon.

S class has actually been easier for me than the "lap battles" on the other licence tiers.

NASCAR ones are easy, mean my hardest one was the exit the pit and overtake in 2 laps one especialy since you had to sit for like 2 minutes before it even began, but best i was able to do was 2nd place. Then i read online that turning ABS off turned off the annoying traction control that is hardwired into those stupid cars, which slows you way way the heck down compared to the rest of the field. After turning off ABS i won it in the first go.

Interestingly the NASCARS even owned will have TCS on even if it is off in driving setup unless you turn off ABS in options, bugged much or do all NASCARS have super level TCS on all the time?

Me i loathed that ferrari BB overtake the field in x laps, course i hate any challenge or test that has the word "comfort" and "tires" attached to it, nm the break bias is totally messed up by default and the car will go sliding all over the place under breaking. Lest PD could do is adjust the breaks so the car was controllable if your going to put garbage tires on for these things.

I didn't find IA-10 that hard to be honest, the hardest part for me was trying to stay on the track. I've only got S-3, S-4 & S-8 left to gold & am finding them near impossible.

Th B and A licenses trick you into thinking you can gold all the license tests but it just keeps getting harder. :)

I've decided to focus on silvering the rest and coming back for gold as a side quest.

If you try to force it you're not going to enjoy the game.

worst tests for me i think was the 2nd slalom test in i think IB license and IC-10 with the ferrari 512BB. omg i hated that test sooooo much.

I hated that slalom test aswell, couldn't even pass it to begin with. The S-4 test is Tokyo R246 in a Ferrari 330 P4 Race car & it's near impossible IMO. I've bronzed it but gold is a long way off.

i thought the s licenses weren't really that bad.. most of them were okay with the exception of s-4 that you mentioned, and s-8. i absolutely hated the ferrari in s-4.. i think i finally golded after two hours of constant restarts and DQs after hitting walls

I've got gold in all 60 with the dual shock. The AI-10 and S-4 I found the hardest tests in the game. I don't know if this advice will be any use to you, but what I found was I was trying to power through the corners to hard on S-4, best to concentrate on the line through the corners, you don't lose much speed when you let off the gas, and you can get the right line then power out of the corner.

AI-10 I found the Gallardo doesn't respond well to braking while cornering, as long as you brake in a straight line, you can brake much later than you think and carry high speed through the corners. Also for all tests turn off all assists, except leave ABS at 1.

I'll give your advice a try later as i'm trying to gold S-3 at the moment. (I keep getting in first & then getting overtaken) As I said earlier I've only got S-3,4 & 8 left to gold so that is my mission for tonight. It may take a while as I've already had a 6pack. :P

Yes, I thought I was the only one with problems on S-4. The track is just a pain, there's not a whole lot of room to take mischievous lines. :/

lol. I found that a few whiskeys often helped more than they hurt.

I think you are correct but you can win them with the "1000 ticket". I'm 2 for 2 on the 1000 ticket. I actually thought that was the 1000 gift until I read people are getting other cars.

I think I have a Red one and a Silver one but it's been awhile since I looked at them.
