Just ran a 6:15.962 with the BMW McLaren and took the win by 10.6 seconds on a ds3... went off track twice too. GT1 cars are my specialty though and I'm excellent on the Ring... now to shave some seconds off..

Pretty nice, here I was excited about a 6:18.9.

I needed to free up some cap room, and I didn't feel like taking the time to think, so I bought an F10... have both F1s now. Then I joined one online room. Of the 6 new UCD cars one was a 2J which I didn't have.

2 million or so from my Bobs left me needing 3 wins, so I grabbed my mostly untouched F1 GTR, changed the oil, and added 35kg of ballast to reach 650pp in the otherwise stock car.

First race on RH tires was a pretty easy win, took first just before the second carousel and won by 3 or 4 seconds. Second one some mistakes made me need to draft by on the straight. Third time I passed the F1 exiting the real Karussel and went on to post that 6:18.9. Very fun. Got a 1000 ticket to boot! Got a Prius tho. :(
 
Tsukuba: 350PP Cappuchino , easy win (AI can't break for ****z) Sport Hard
CapeRing: 86 GT 470PP (Shelby lead) Win on Sport Hard
Nürburgring: Zonda R detuned, Racing Hard, Zonda LM in lead first try. Then Again, I'm a regular on the Ring (on two wheels thought)

The Tracks are really fun, too bad the AI has horrible breaking points, it makes passing them a stroll in the park...

As for fun: took my Sprinter Trueno AE86 with drift spec to Tsukuba, it makes passing the opponents just that much more fun.

They should allow you to choose AI strength in the Options.

And for anybody else complaining these events are too easy: Try using weaker cars than the PP limit. It makes the event more challenging sometimes.
 
Again all quite easy wins using some of the dlc cars I got. The Mini Countryman, Scirocco and trusty R35TC. I had alot of fun and will grind out these events for a bit with weaker cars. Best of all I recieved a Ferrari 512BB for little effort ;)
 
Took 2 tries at the 650 in 24hr gtr.

I think that the Nurburging one is a lot more fun than previous 650pp seasonals.
 
The seasonals may be repetitive but I find this one particularly fun. Trying all sorts of cars and tires.
Wonder if anyone manage to win the seasonal in a GTR 07 in any level of tuning. I find it impossible at my current level as my max hp GTR (63*pp) 'flies' over elevation changes making it highly unstable.
Any advice from anyone who can?
 
I can get a sub 6:10.xxx with my Viper GTS race (645pp) car using racing softs. It can take Flugplatz at 160mph!
 
I used:
400PP- VW Golf V GTI
500PP- Audi S4 '03 (470pp)
650PP- Oreca Viper GTS-R

I first tried my N24 V12 Vantage "Kermit" in the 650pp and finished 3rd, 35 seconds behind the winning F1 GTR. Second try with Viper, I caught the leading GT Spec II LM at the beginning of the Dottinger Hohe. Next time, I want to try the R8 LMS against the Fords.
 
I only had time to do the Nurburgring race one time this afternoon. I used a fully modified Corvette ZR1 RM detuned to 650PP. The car lineup had the McLaren F1 and Zonda LM as the top two cars. I was intimidated and choose to use RS tires instead of the usual RH.
I caught the lead F1 entering Karussell and tried to pass at the next curve and promptly slid off the track. I was 3.8 seconds behind at the next timing line. I finally caught and passed the F1 at Schwalbenschwanz. My time was 6:26.871 and the F1 was 6:28.633.
 
400 PP - Citroen C4 (slightly tuned)
550 PP - Toyota 86 GT (slightly tuned)
650 PP - Chaparral 2J (high RPM turbo, stock tires)

Won them all my first try. Got an RS6 Avant as a prize :)

Am I the only one who dislikes the way PD makes these seasonals? I mean - the cars on pos. 1. and sometimes 2. almost always take off and leave a big gap to the other cars. It's like the other cars are just there to slow you down :-) . But don't get me wrong - I am happy to see new seasonals anyway.

Yeah the lead cars seem to zoom off when you are making you way through the pack, then by the tune you're in third they're 20 seconds ahead!
 
I can completely understand the rationale why the fast cars are in front. If it is any other way, we would be overtaking all at one go and time trial the rest of the way which is arguably worse.
By having a big gap between each car, we can actually chart our progress and find our way towards the pole more gratifying.
The other way is to have unrealistic boost which you hear similarly loud complaints. The problem with having fast car mixed in the AI is that the fast car got held up when they are not significantly faster and that further diminishes the challenge.
In short, there is no simple solution for the current seasonals unless the AI's skills and car is closer match to ours (and that differs wildly) and occasionally make random mistakes for overtaking to be possible.
 
It's the rolling start. It would be different if you could nail the throttle as soon as the leader crosses the line, as happens in the Nascar races. But instead you piddle along, at next to nothing mph with a huge gap between you and the No.11 car, until you cross the line. Meanwhile the lead car is pulling away all of that time. I'd rather see the AI cars using RS and a standing start or at least a double file Nascar type start.
 
My lineup:

400PP - stock Honda Accord Euro R '02
500PP - NSX type R '02 with intake, exhaust, ECU and drivetrain mods at 500PP
650PP - ZZ-II at 638PP

All won at first crack

watch the replays. The leading cars accelerate no sooner than the player's car crosses the line.
 
Won the Nordschleife on 3rd try using the R8 Race Car (Audio PlayStation Team...). 6:38 if I'm not mistaken, the car to beat was the Ford GT LM Race Car Spec II, so not that bad.

For the 400pp and 500pp races I always use the Lotus Elise 111r if I don't experiment with other cars. Wins everytime like it's not even funny.
 
400 PP - Honda Civic
500 PP - Toyota 86 GT
650 PP - Tried with a BMW M3 CSL first.. lol. It was a close race with the BMW M3 GTR Race Car though. Finished 0.7 sec ahead of the Mclaren F1. Great fun :)

I got 1st in all 3 first time and I am rubbish at this game / simulator.

I obviously used very easy cars for the job

1. Mazda 110S (L10B) '68
2. Gran Turismo 350Z RS
3. Audi A4 Touring Car '04

All on racing soft and AIDS turned off apart from driving line

No idea of times and I know race 1 and 3 were close calls

Did I make it too easy for myself ?

I am not really into cars as such but love GT5, so without knowing, I prob tend to pick cars that are not suited to tracks or races

Since I recently won this lvl 18 car, I decided to finally try it, instead of gawk at it in the dealership all this time;

Lexus ENEOS SC430

Equipped a High RPM Turbo, bringing it to 607pp, and reduced downforce to 600pp.

Battled to first place in 6:27, split seconds ahead of AI McLaren F1 (passed him on early stretch)

I am grateful for having practiced this track to death and back, it was a great chase to the finish.

(Last place AI uses my same car)

I used LSD 36/21/10 , front toe as +.02 , leave tranny at 316km default, just adjust FD to bring it down to approx 310km. Super Steady. Anti Roll @ 4/3 , brake balance 6/4 , no aids, just ABS (optional)

The first two races were made too easy because you used RS tires and the AI cars use SH tires. The RS tires are at least 5 seconds or more faster per lap.
The ease of the third race was probably the AI car lineup. I would guess the McLaren F1 or Zonda LM were not the top two cars in your race.

So do people generally match up car for car in terms of tyres etc when doing the seasonals to make it a challenge ?

I do.
Sometimes choose a worse tire or a weaker car but same tyre.
Not for 650pp generally as it is already quite a tough challenge for my not too good skill level. I try not to detune car more than 10% as well.
But whatever, it's a game. Play it the way you like it.
Just amused if anyone claims it is too easy when outmatching the AI in car or tire intentionally. Taken to extreme, it's like winning Sunday cup in a race soft x1 and cry that PD made it too easy.
Try different cars close to that pp. Maybe all the different AI opponent cars and see which you can win in stock tune and AI tires.

I won the 650 race pretty easy with the Toyota GT One Race Car. Had to restrict the horsepower quite a bit so I thought I might get overtaken on the final straight but once you're in front for a bit the ai seems to magically make the lead car fall back some. I was in the lead quite a bit due to the Toyota's superior cornering though, so I may just be imagining things but in any case, it was a great way to get $1,000,000 really quick. Tried some other cars and almost trashed my wheel out of frustration. lol.

To answer you're question, yes you made it way to easy for yourself, not because of your choice of cars, but because of the tires, Racing Softs are the best tire in the game and provide way to much grip, try them again with stock tires.

There are some other seasonals I need to do, so will try with equal cars and tyres to the challenge and see how I fair.
