The PStwo has a built in Ethernet Adapter.

How do you get it to work? Simple. Plug in the Ethernet cable.

Yup - dial-up and broadband connections on the back, and an 'Online Start-Up' CD... with a picture of GT4 in the list of 'future games available online'. Whoops! :)

I suppose you could plug a remote wireless antenna in through the network connector, but as far as I know, the built in adaptor is not directly wireless ready. It does indeed come with a network set-up CD.

It's the same console you're used to but now it's a hell of a lot smaller, doesn't take hard drives, and has an onboard network card.

👍

Also has the built in infrared receiver that was not on the very early PS2s, a flip-open lid (rather than sliding tray), and a hell of a lot quieter fan.

I thought it didn't have a fan?
I guess I was wrong.

Could very well be true, all I know is that I haven't heard any fan noise at all - I just assumed it had a very quiet one. Wouldn't it need to expel heat?

Okay, I live in a dorm that has a network connection to each room. If i plug my PS2 into the ethernet cable...will I be able to play against others on the network?

--I know my suitemates do it with a certain black box made from microsoft

lan gaming is only possible in games that have the feature enabled. Otherwise you'll have to connect to the game through the game's server.

I just recently picked up a new slimline PSTwo! What I've gathered is that it doesn't have an internal fan as the PSU is now external and that is what generates the majority of heat on the old PS2's.

I may be wrong about the fan, but I've had my new one on for 10hrs and didn't experience a problem at all. Infact, it's working better than my old 'big' PS2.

Your right about the rom drive creating heat but the hard drives in the old ps2s creat a lot of heat as well..

You had to eitehr install a PS2 HDD from Japan or install your own which would allow you to load yours games onto it.

I don't think the slim PS2 has a fan as the power pack (the main source of heat) is located on the power core instead of within, this also cuts down on internal room needed.

It has a fan..................

And yes it's possible to run HDLoader on the slim V12 PS2 with a normal IDE harddrive, but right now it requires way too much work. It's been done already.
