Kaz tweeted the dates I posted ;)

lets say we'll all have it this weekend :D

As for the DLC’s availability, the North American PlayStation Blog confirms it will be available next Tuesday, January 17. However, the European blog re-iterates the original release date of Wednesday, January 18. As always, stay tuned to GTPlanet and our forums for specific, local availability information.

Taken directly from the front page here on the DLC release info. I believe that Sony and not PD is in charge of when exactly the DLC is put on the PS Store.

I do believe that is correct. PD just sends it to them and tells them what week. Much like Music CDs and DVDs.

I think the problem they had with the US launch the first go around was just that. They sent the DLC to Sony week of instead of week before.

Just a guess. We'll get it when we get it this week.

Because quite simply they are entitled to that opinion and entitled to air said opinion in the discussion forum. If you don't agree that is fine but people who think something like this could have been on the disc are not wrong, just as they are not right.

I know that's what i said in my whole post, i wasn't saying they were right or wrong if you read my whole post. I know everyone if entitled to their own opinion i was just saying.

Have you never known a business model where a company creates several products/items/whatever, sells most of them but gives some cheaper items away for free, recouping their losses in other ways? Very quick generic example:

Product A costs £20 to make, company sell 1 million for £100 - £80million net profit.
Product B costs £5 to make, they give 1 million away for free - £5 million net loss.

Total net profit - £75 million.

That is an example of a company with a tangible item they must produce, DLC is not a tangible item so they wouldn't lose money per each free download, just one initial loss of staff wages. PD already do it themselves with the few free cars they give us. They can afford to give away one basic track for free if they chose to.

Your idea works, but only if Product A was not enticing in the first place and needed Product B to boost its sales. The original GT5 is a very successful product and didn't need DLC in the beginning to boost its sales. PD has already made back its R&D and product costs from GT5. GT5 DLC is just icing on the cake.

If you then look at it from a business point of view from PD's perspective, customers have voiced that they want extra content for money. Looking at the polls going around asking who's buying DLC, many people are willing to fork out their wallets for extra content. If you were PD, would you simply give a product out for free when you have the power to stick a price tag on it? I know I would charge the highest price point where people would still be willing to pay. It's not about being greedy, it's business. If PD gives free content out, that's out of their generosity, not because they are running a loss on GT5 and need to use DLCs to boost sales.

What you're describing is more for the XL / Spec II Edition where it's bundled with free DLCs to increase sales.

yes, i'm obviously trolling because i don't agree with paying for stuff that should've been in the game originally.

i bought the collectors edition, thinking i was buying a complete game (which after 6 years it should've been) and what i got instead was a game missing half the tracks from old games, badly upscaled GT4 tracks, and none of the tuning aspects advertised, and now PD are asking for more money for these missing features?

this is what gaming is, because this is what you have let it become. unfinished products, broken promises, and post purchase upsales.

Just don't buy the DLC.

Works for me.

Unfortunate that for your idea their choice involves charging

What? Did you read what I wrote? The second product was free and I was just answering the person who said there was no logic in giving away content for free. There is logic in it.
