ANyone feel that the sand traps have become different from before the update? Now you can easily get off the sand trap without losing much speed or spinning crazily.

Last time, your speed was severely reduced and the car would have close to no grip and may at times spin a few thousand rounds before stopping.

They nerfed it to cater to the people who just want the game to "look" real but drive like Need for Speed.

Expect to see threads by people who screams for damage, turn around and complaint the damaged is making the game not fun for them after PD finally introduced it; and then tell PD they shouldn't have introduced damage in the first place.

The truth stings

Can't say that i've noticed any difference as far as being able to get out of a sand trap any quicker that before the update.

Grass is just as slick as it always was.. I went off earlier tonight, and the car spun at least three or four times before finally settling to a stop.

In Pro mode, prior to the update if you went off into the sand you might as well kiss the race goodbye. With the update, you're now able to muster yourself out of the pit, easier than before but it'd still bogged you down.

Pro mode only makes the physics of the cars handling more difficult. can't see where the sand traps would be made easier or harder to get out of, regardless of whether its Pro or Standard physics.

EDIT: I've raced both Standard and Pro and haven't noticed any difference in the amount of time gettting out of a sand trap.

Are you using a steering wheel- I don't know if it makes a difference with gamepad but with my G25, it definitely does.

I do use a wheel and a pad also, but haven't noticed any difference in relation to sand traps. I think PD just made the driving easier so as to help the less capable players to compete more.

Hmmz. Seems like some do notice the change and some still have not experienced it. I started this thread because I really felt it was so much easier to get myself back on track when I run off at Suzuka.

Before the update, just going into the sand a little with relatively low speeds would have resulted in you being close to last place when you play with the AI. Lately, I find myself just going into the sand and pulling out so much quicker than before. It almost felt like the game gave a push to my car to go back on track.

I also feel that it has become easier to get out of a sand trap. Before you had to wait many painful seconds until the cat had stopped, and then, you had to creep out very slowly. Now, you don't spin as much anymore, can you can drive out of the pit a bit quicker and easier.

P.S.: I must say I can't stand it anymore that in every thread about Prologue after the update, there constantly is some whining about how easy this game has become. The sandpit still is one, and you still lose several seconds before you get out of it and have to drive your tires clean afterwards. That's not exactly arcadey, is it? :grumpy:

It would also depend on what car you are using, some are hardly effected by the sandtraps.

While tuning my cars I frequently visit sand traps and grass patches because of taking the car to and over the limit during a test, and I haven't noticed any real difference. But then again, using an Evo or GTR will get you out of grass or sand more easily then a Ford GT for example.

And the new tyre physics may have something to do with it as well.

The sort of point I was trying to make in another thread...

You hit it square on the head there 👍

That's the case with any game, there are always people who hate it and complain regardless of what the developers are doing.

I would go along with that. AWD would be able to get out of a sand trap easier/quicker than say a FR, FF or MR. Also I think it would depend on what tyre compounds the car has.

you beet me to it there man,:)
this is exactly my thought too...
as being a driving simulator, getting out of a sandtrap with 4wd car should be easier than with (for example)a super low ford gt tuned car....
so it makes total sence...👍👍

spyrrari.

ye i noticed this on Fuji online, i was braking then my back wheel touched the grass let me say it to you this way my eyes where like this:scared:
i was like oh no wall coming towards me fast lol

i too have noticed that getting out of the sand traps at Suzuka is much much easier.

first time i hit the sand after the update i winced in terror, but i found it took less time get out of the sand and less spinning out..

i've been practicing FR cars, so i've been noticing this with FR cars

using Pro physics with a G25

sand traps have been nerfed big time. OP is right as is MM above me. This is using the f430 before and after the update.

i think its for the better though
before the update, recovering from the sand traps was brutal
and for a guy like me, still learning the ropes of racing, it was just terrible...

at least now, you veer off into the sand traps it still takes a decent amount of time to get yourself back on the track, at the proper speed, etc.
basically still gives you the incentive to stay off the sand traps, but the consequence of hitting the sand traps isn't death

Here the same experience at Suzuka.
Before the august update one off into the sandtrap and you could forget ending up in the top 5.
After the update it's really easier to get out, but you'll lose a few seconds though but still ending up high into the top 5.
Shame the punters get out quicker too ... When one punter missed and went off you had no worries for the rest off the race, now they keep coming back.

I REALLY hope when damage comes out you have a chance of ripping off your bumper just by going into the gravel pit if your car is low enough.

is see that a member named-graveltrap- is reading this thread....
please post something,:sly:lol...

spyrrari.

yeah i found that i have ran a wide on suzuka and the sand aint spinning me out crazy, much more subtle, having said that i may have not been in sim mode, not sure? so that might cause it to spin much easier.

If your car is low enough, then you'll not only rip off your bumper, your exaust system will get shredded aswell lol.

And thank God this is just what I like to call a demo( Preparing for GT5) Imagine if all this whine was in GT5. Trust me guys PD ain't dumb. They wanna make everyone happy so they are trying different stuff and improving different things to make the game more fun while still maintaining a realism to it. There will be more updates this fall. I am not even worried about. Whatever they are cooking there it's good and I can't wait! Go PD.

Note You can't make everyone happy, it's common sense but they can get close to at least trying! Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.

Yes thats right, no matter what you do there will always be someone who would have it differently. But I'm sure PD will fine-tune the game for maximum realism, aiming it at the more serious drivers; those who have a FULL appreciation of realism. To reduce realism because of a few whingy people would be a real shame. I think that having standard and Pro physics allows them the flexibility to have Physics that will suit both types of Drivers; Casual Drivers and then the Serious Race enthusiasts...much like myself.:D
PD is practically always bound to impress when it comes to the GT series.👍
