im busy right now with new york 76 lap race but im curious do the ever have any pit stops bit annoying cause i have to do it and they dont?

The AI will always manage to go longer than you, unless you go super hard tyres and drive like a Granny on smack.

I tend to end up pitting around 4-5 laps before them per round of pitstops.

If you'd looked in the "LOOK HERE BEFORE YOU ASK – Many FAQs" thread at the top of this forum, you'd have found a thread called, "Complete AI Pit strategy guide for the 16 Endurance Races."

Unsurprisingly, that thread contains all the info you need to know.

Also, grammar and punctuation are good. Please use it as your posts are verging on incomprehensible.

Why must half the posts here be admonishments?

This forum has a lot of good stuff, but honestly, the impolite manner of the mods. and those who b'lieve their duty is to scold others makes this place a bit of a drag. Lighten up. You know, you can keep with your rules without acting like an ass. The sarcasm in the mods posts makes me think they are in it for the Power Trip as much, or more, than keeping this place orderly.

Honestly, it seems that signal:noise is degraded by mods and wanna-be mods with their admonishments moreso than by people who did not appropriately use the search button. Here's an idea, take your threats of banning and your sarcastic hints of proper use to email or private messages.

I love this forum, but I'm pretty tired of the noise generated by those seeking to diminish it.

Shakespeare never wrote an original plot, and some suggest all men's stories can be placed into 8 neat paradigms. Dose this mean we should stop living? No, we do our thing at our own place in time.

Let me explain. What you see as impoliteness is meant to be a kick in the back of the people who think they don't have to use their own brain around the forums. Believe me, it would get out of hands before you could even notice it if we began answering every question directly.

I'm not a mod, and never will be, but even I understand that if every stupid question is answered, there will be more stupid questions. That one above is an example by the book. He asks for information that is definitely obtainable to him, but he can't be bothered to look for it. Is it just that we are mean or that some members don't do their own part of the job?

I will take flaming for this, but I couldn't care less. It will just make my picture of the flamers even more clear.

Cute. This is exactly what I mean. The mods have a fascist culture of fear going on here. Civility is gone. And I know culture's of fear, I live in DC.

Anyhoo - I just wanted to offer a fresh perspective. This place has obviously been up for quite some time and is doing quite well. My hat's off to all who make it run. I don't mean to make trouble. If I'm offended in the future, I'll browse elsewhere.

That's quite the exaggeration. There's certainly more moderator-input in this area of the site than most others, but that may be down to the fact that this particular forum deals with an active game, is visited by more low-volume-post members ("newbies" and casual browsers) and has, as a result, more reposted questions than pretty much anywhere else, and more members unfamiliar with the standards of communication we expect.

In written communication tone is all in the head. You can re-read things months later and get a different tone.

I see no sarcasm in daan's post - though I actually know daan in the other world. I see a user being directed to the answer to his question, the source of answers to other similar questions (saving him from having to ask those as well) and a mild upbraiding on his standard of language use - which might be due to the user being a non-native English speaker, but similarly might not be.

Threats of banning? Very rarely seen. We don't, generally, threaten to ban out in public forums. We discuss it behind the scenes.

But here's a follow-up thought on more public posts by moderators. This site has very many regular denizens, and some are lunatics. A single post by a moderator prevents many tens of posts by aforementioned regular lunatics, all-but-flaming the poster for his relatively innocent actions. Result - member never returns. Not good (though we do like rid of some members). Furthermore daan could have just registered an Infraction or Warning for that post (probably a Warning, as a low-grade and first offence). Would the member know what he'd done wrong? This way, daan's gone to the effort of letting him know what has gone wrong and, importantly, what he can do to ensure it won't happen again. Issuing a Warning takes about 7 seconds.

The mods have a fascist culture of fear going on here.

All good forums must have an element of fascism - the moderators are appointed to uphold the rules of the Owner. If we have no rules (or none which are upheld - or no moderators), we have anarchy (which, conveniently, is a state where there is a complete absence of fascism).


Granted, some people don't seem to like this, but by-and-large the site works and we have a very large, regular populace and are the most comprehensive site about the largest game franchise for the best-selling home consoles (just to exclude portables right there) of all time.

Now I'm not saying you've broken any rules, but if you don't like them, or the way the moderating team acts, you're more than welcome to speak to Jordan (the site Owner-Operator) or Report any post you feel crosses some kind of line (these messages go to ALL moderating staff, so the whole team will read your issues).

I'm not in it for the power. I'm in it to help intelligent people who try to help themselves, as well. I'm definitely NOT in it for the sheer enjoyment of spoon feeding lazy fools.

Many years ago when Sir Jordan created his first Gran Turismo site, it had not the size nor scope of this current community, just a small group of like minded aficianados sharing our experiences, and throwing down the occaisional gauntlet.
Unfortunately, our midst was infiltrated by those whose sense of civility and gentlemannly behavior was, to say the least, lacking.
It made for a less than enjoyable experience. I departed the community and just recently have returned. I am amazed at the width and breadth of this site, as well as the diversity of it's membership. Because it has reached such proportions, there is a need to have members that take the task of policing posts. I for one have been chided for incorrect placements of threads, but take it with good cheer for it is given with the best interest of the membership in mind.
This is not a place for dicontent or vitriole. It is a place for assorted miscreants, n'er-do-wells, and enthusiasts to share and enjoy the diversity. The moderator's task is no small one and should not be taken as insult or challenge. Without management this site would disolve into what so many others have become, a whinning post. Be civil with one another, be of good humor, and realize that life is too short to sweat insignifigant details. This community is a refuge for me, from the minutiae, of a world gone nuts.
