Every year 4 and Rotary Productions (http://www.4androtory.com) hold the Import Battle series which of consists of 3 rounds during the first quarter of the year with only imports allowed (who would've guessed?!). Anyway today (Jan 16) was the first round and I trundled down in my mighty little Ford Laser to spectate. I took my camera with me and my camcorder but I took more photos then I did movies.

Here they are:

This is our fastest Import in NZ - it runs an 8.23 @ 163mph. It's a Datsun Coupe with a full tuberame fully tubbed chassis running an SR20DET pushing close around the 800hp mark. It weighs 850kg (he has to add weight to meet the limit) so the power-to-weight is spot on and it's a little monster and is absolutely to see running. His fastest time of the day was an 8.5 and I heard him talking in the pits while taking these pictures and he thought he could go faster but the track wasn't good :indiff:

Their tow vehicle equipped with 24" of chrome wheels :D

I don't know much about this RX-7, it's fastest time is a 9.0 @ 146mph. He wasn't able to get close enough due to some problems :(

This is a Toyota Corona running a 1.5JZ (2JZGTE block and 1JZGTE head) making lots of power, his pb is a 9.66 @ 138mph but on his first run today he dipped into the low 10's and managed to drop his oil sump over the finish line.

Civic with a completely stripped interior and tube front end (I think) running a K20A out of the new Civics (I think - as well) with a pb of 11.84 @ xxxpmh I believe. He spent most of the day in the 12's with an occasional high 11.

Mazda SP20 full on drag car with a 20B rotary with a very large turbo:

Today was his debut and he sat in the low 11's and high 10's while he was getting used to the car.

The little four wheeler has a custom made intercooled turbo and I think those are 17" or might even be 19" chrome wheels, it really suits the job I reckon :D

The car is the background is a Mitsubishi Evo 3 with a full tube front end running a 4G63 and T51R turbo:

They are very close to claiming the 4WD 4Cyl record of 8.76 currently held by John Shepard in the USA - they are sitting on 8.87 at the moment with lots more to come 👍

Anyway, that's all that I can be bothered uploading and sorting out at the moment, I may add more later 👍

Nice pics 👍 . Do you have any more of DOCILE? I'd love to have a desktop of that car. I wish I had gone to the drags, but theres always next week. Did you need a pass to get into the pits Taurine?

Looks like it is up to us the cover the NZ car scene for GTP :)

Sure is :D

You're free to walk around in the pits, but just don't get too close or else the racers will get pissy with you  At the 4 and Rotary Nationals (30th of Jan) they have the pits blocked off because of the crowd of 20,000 people it's both annoying for the racers and dangerous for the organisers..

This is an official NZPC background of DOCILE http://performancecar.co.nz/download_files/docile.jpg

Have you seen/head it in person? It is sooooo loud and the backfire are the sexx

Nah I haven't heard it since the rebuild :indiff: . I also reckon that the Quest 4 Corona is a seriously slick piece of machinery. Who else would have though of converting a humble Toyota Corona to RWD and dropping a Supra motor but a NZer?

Did you know that DOCILEs tow quad is custon turbocharged as well?

Edit: That black 9 second bat is driven by Tony Bateson and it has a 13B with a huge Turbonetics Turbo.

Yeah I mentioned that under the picture ;)

The Corona is quick **** for sure. I went to the Speedtech Drag Day last year when it cut it's 9.66 and damn it hooked up off the line so well, I wouldn't be surprised if it launched itself into the 8's this year.

Can't wait for Reece to return, it's gonna be huge.

[edit] DOCILE ran a 9.53 and was wheelspinning at 3/4 track. No VHT I don't think :(

Oops my bad. Do you know how many ponies are pumping out of Dociles 4G63?

He wont say

Last time it was something like 800hp @ the wheels before his rebuild. Lots of people have guessed he'd be around the 1000hp @ the wheels but we'll never know.

Had another good talk with Reece just before I left work today, real nice guy to talk to 👍
