Every year 4 and Rotary Productions (http://www.4androtory.com) hold the Import Battle series which of consists of 3 rounds during the first quarter of the year with only imports allowed (who would've guessed?!). Anyway today (Jan 16) was the first round and I trundled down in my mighty little Ford Laser to spectate. I took my camera with me and my camcorder but I took more photos then I did movies.
Here they are:

This is our fastest Import in NZ - it runs an 8.23 @ 163mph. It's a Datsun Coupe with a full tuberame fully tubbed chassis running an SR20DET pushing close around the 800hp mark. It weighs 850kg (he has to add weight to meet the limit) so the power-to-weight is spot on and it's a little monster and is absolutely to see running. His fastest time of the day was an 8.5 and I heard him talking in the pits while taking these pictures and he thought he could go faster but the track wasn't good
Their tow vehicle equipped with 24" of chrome wheels

I don't know much about this RX-7, it's fastest time is a 9.0 @ 146mph. He wasn't able to get close enough due to some problems

This is a Toyota Corona running a 1.5JZ (2JZGTE block and 1JZGTE head) making lots of power, his pb is a 9.66 @ 138mph but on his first run today he dipped into the low 10's and managed to drop his oil sump over the finish line.

Civic with a completely stripped interior and tube front end (I think) running a K20A out of the new Civics (I think - as well) with a pb of 11.84 @ xxxpmh I believe. He spent most of the day in the 12's with an occasional high 11.

Mazda SP20 full on drag car with a 20B rotary with a very large turbo:

Today was his debut and he sat in the low 11's and high 10's while he was getting used to the car.

The little four wheeler has a custom made intercooled turbo and I think those are 17" or might even be 19" chrome wheels, it really suits the job I reckon
The car is the background is a Mitsubishi Evo 3 with a full tube front end running a 4G63 and T51R turbo:

They are very close to claiming the 4WD 4Cyl record of 8.76 currently held by John Shepard in the USA - they are sitting on 8.87 at the moment with lots more to come 👍
Anyway, that's all that I can be bothered uploading and sorting out at the moment, I may add more later 👍
