Hi...Im new to the forums and I been tryin to drift for few days now...I use a Mazda RX-8 and I can kind of drift (I think) with Super Slick tires...I was wondering if anyone can tell me how do drift really good...cause I just suck. And what settings are the best for my rx-8. Thanks :)

for me as a beginner try standard setting no turbo & weight . then put SIM tire ( good for drift ) even long than drift with it try & give the feedback k ...;)

okay i've been drifting with my mix tires, and i find it incredibly hard to use the sim tires, is a gas pedal necessary cuz i'm not used to pushing X with like 25% of power than more and more like real cars

the RX-8 has to be well into its powerband in order to drift properly (6k and up) so a custom gearbox might not be a bad idea. equipped with simtires it should be fairly easy to drift...it will just take practice. for learning to drift you may want to learn on a car with a different powerband; something which makes power at a much lower rpm...like an RX-7 RS, camaro, or Supra.

Does that mean no upgrades at all? Just stock /w SIm tires?

anything over 300 hp with sims is un-nessasary

I still cant drift...I read everything I need and Still cant drift...On Trial Mountain before I drift left I turn the handle to the right and then quicklly to the left and accelerate but it doesnt drift...

Ok, listen to me. There's no one thing that's gonna make your car drift. Simply turning a certain way and accelerating might not do it. When you go into a turn, the best way to break traction is to feint drift.
Let's say it's the first left at Trial Mountain in Free Ride. You'll be in the lane that is on the inside of the turn as you approach it. Then you'll sharply turn right, then left into the turn. The weight shift in the rear of the car wil cause you to lose traction and presto, you're drifting.
But no you need to control the slide to keep it going through the turn. You're gonna want to counter steer, but not just simply hold the right button down. That's not gonna work. The idea when counter-steering is to keep the front wheels aligned with the road. That's how you steer during a drift. Throttle control will help control the angle of the car during a drift.

A common problem I see when people are new to drfting is that they don't understand why they're doing what they're doing, so they're not effective when doing it. Get it? Just think scientifically kinda. Use your head to predict what the car will do when you drive it. I'll be making a Drift Guide sometime in the near future explaining all of these effects. You can't get better if you don't understand.

I hope this helped.

Yup, he is right. I guess once u get the hang of it, its automatic, before each and every corner, you will be able to visualize what kind of line and angle you will take before starting your drift. "Use your head to predict what the car will do when you drive it". If you can visualize it, I'm sure you will be able to do it. Good luck man.
