Ok, listen to me. There's no one thing that's gonna make your car drift. Simply turning a certain way and accelerating might not do it. When you go into a turn, the best way to break traction is to feint drift.
Let's say it's the first left at Trial Mountain in Free Ride. You'll be in the lane that is on the inside of the turn as you approach it. Then you'll sharply turn right, then left into the turn. The weight shift in the rear of the car wil cause you to lose traction and presto, you're drifting.
But no you need to control the slide to keep it going through the turn. You're gonna want to counter steer, but not just simply hold the right button down. That's not gonna work. The idea when counter-steering is to keep the front wheels aligned with the road. That's how you steer during a drift. Throttle control will help control the angle of the car during a drift.
A common problem I see when people are new to drfting is that they don't understand why they're doing what they're doing, so they're not effective when doing it. Get it? Just think scientifically kinda. Use your head to predict what the car will do when you drive it. I'll be making a Drift Guide sometime in the near future explaining all of these effects. You can't get better if you don't understand.
I hope this helped.
