I thought i GT5 was going to be playable at SEMA, with past winners being featured and drivable in game... yet i have heard no news of this. Is the game on the showfloor? Is it a new build (damage, skidmarks, sounds, etc)... or is i completely absent?

Does anyone know?

yes there is for sure something.. but I don't know if it's public

Guests at the event are invited to test drive Gran Turismo 5 prior to its launch, with all past GT Awards Best in Show vehicles being showcased in the software. Additionally, two very special musical guests will help ring in the occasion, making for a true night to remember. If you are in Las Vegas planning to attend SEMA, feel free to come by with your badge and enjoy the GT Awards ceremony, get some hands-on time with the game, and what's sure to be an incredible night of music.

I think many GTPlanet fans expected a new release date announcement at SEMA. And assuming such was not altogether unreasonable considering that Kazunori is there and due to his special connection to the show.

But I would have been surprised myself if there was any official announcement made during the show, for reasons which I outlined in my last post yesterday and for reasons others were also quick to point out.

Keep in mind, now that we know the game is in production, it's now very much in Sony's hands and it's no longer PD who is directly involved in the process of bringing the game into people's homes. Sony is the publisher. And it's quite possible Kazunori does not even know himself when the game will be released. Although I'm sure he has a reasonably good idea.

But I suspect by now, several hundred people either do know when the game will be released or have a very good idea when it will be. And those would be people at Sony, people (higher ups) along the distribution channels, sales and vendor relations, people on specific planning teams and marketing teams for major retailers or mail order houses, etc. It could be because of some of these people and a few loose tongues and eager ears, that we keep hearing rumors such as Nov 30th or Dec 7th.

There was a date. November 2nd. That date slipped and it probably caused a lot of back lash between Sony and their retail network. The last thing Sony wants to do at this point is start rumors or mention dates that aren't set in stone. I fully believe that Sony will make an official announcement at some point in the next week. It will be a relatively low key announcement without balloons and fireworks. And within 24-48 hours there after, most major retailer will update their websites accordingly.

Don't worry. Kaz did his fans the biggest favor confirming the game has gone gold. We know it's just a matter of time. And not much of it. Trust me, Sony wants to sell you the game as much as you want to buy it.

Well said, jj. 👍
thats the official sony shop and the release here ist the 30 November
1) It's been posted before.
2) It says on or about November 30, not specifically November 30.

Wouldn't it be better if Sony anounced the new date in a kaboom fashion and not in a low profile one?
Just a thought.

Who are these "people"? Nobody who isn't employed by Sony/PD would ever keep their lips sealed about a GT5 release date. However it's a moot point because Sony knows this and would never give that info out to a bunch of random people.

So your bro was there, and he heard from a guy who was serving drinks at the GT5 VIP party that a release was imminent? Not true.

You heard from a dude who had his picture taken with Kaz, that Kaz whispered in his ear that the game was going to be out soon. Not true.

None of these people who are claiming to have inside information, truly have inside information or they'd be telling the world. Period.

Agreed, so many useless posts are being created with people that claim they know random bits of information.

Sony, as a company, are likely very embarrassed about the delay. And from a business perspective, they've probably gotten a lot of flak from their retail network who had to reschedule expensive ads, promotions, floor space, etc. Once they have all the distribution details worked out, all they have to do is issue a small press release and the word will go viral within a hour.

There is always hopw for next year ;)

I found the below which some may find interesting.

So, Marcel Horn had a shot at yet another car in the game, I see. I'm curious about that Papadakis Corolla...

If you think about it, the Camaro as DLC is entirely feasible. If it takes 6 months to model a car as they have said, they should be able to crank one out even faster now that they are stamping.

Up to 6 months is my impression from reading some interviews with Kaz ( some cars may even take longer though ) and that's when they have to start from scratch.
They already have a Premium '69 Camaro included and have all the data from the ZR-1 as well, ofcourse they will have to measure, collect further data and model that Sema-winner correctly to the last detail but in this case I don't think they have to start from scratch.:)

I think it will be DLC, along with the Abarth that won at Pebble Beach.

We figured that all out last week. Still doesn't make it official.

Why is the winner of the GT awards 2010 not on the front page ? 💡

I know that it is in this thread some where, but In my opinion the red Camaro should be on the front page :)

It is after all close to the only real / relayble news we have had for sema this year, accept from "The discs are being stamped as we speak" of course :)

GTPlanet is so far ahead of the game (as compared to other sites) when it comes to news regarding GT5.

It never gets old.

I think many GTPlanet fans expected a new release date announcement at SEMA.

Why did anyone expect a release date at sema? Sony never said anything about that.

And as far as I know the only thing we heard about it going gold was from 1 game site that noone's ever heard of. I havent read any news releases from Sony or any popular source that the game went gold. As far as Im concerned that was yet another internet rumor.

Kaz said that it went gold himself, I would call that a pretty reliable source.

Think about Amazon and how much money they have lost by refunding shipping charges for both the game and the Prima guide. I doubt it's just the 4 or 5 people here, including myself, that posted their email. To get my guide next day it cost me $4 (3.99 to be exact), standard Amazon Prime next day fee.

That came via jalopnik not Sony. Is that official.
Kaz hasn't said it to any other source to my knowledge.
