One of the things I'm most proud of is that after 18 league races I've been pretty much drama & racing incident free, my style of passing people is closest to THE HOGS and it has served me well in this league. The exception to the above statement is yesterdays race at Road America. I had bad ju-ju all week with the car and track and thank god that race is over.
Tokyo Circuit 2nd
My expectations on this race were low since I had no track experience and everybody took turns kicking my a$$ in practice this week. I started 3rd in this race and somehow found myself 2nd after the second turn. Problem was the unpredictable Kemp was in the lead and I knew there would be no chance to catch him since his practice session his lap times was at least a second quicker than mine. The reason I say unpredictable Kemp is because I believe that boy has some serious game skills just waiting to be discovered. I must confess after the 8th lap I was almost praying for this race to be over because the young upstart garethevans78 was close enough to me I could see the color of his eyes on a track I knew I wasn't particularly fast and basically had no confidence on. After 6 laps of sweating pure bullets the message came across my screen that garethevans78 had left the game at the beginning of lap 15, I could only imagine his emotions because he wasn't over a bumper length away from me at the time.
Road America 3rd
When Road America was announced I was amped since it's one of my favorite tracks and have had good luck in the past with the DBR9. This track is a track where I've enjoyed my highest percentages of wins on online play. I've even did a 152.9 in my Lambo and was full of confidence
until my first practice session in the DBR9. This car on this track was actually too good for me and I never fully came to terms with the braking and turn 4 gave me fits
every lap. But the biggest problem for me was the lack of consistency with this car, during my practice sessions I did a 156.3 but most laps I was around 2:00.
When the starting grid was unveiled I knew my chances on winning the race were almost zero. i started dead last and the Irish whiskey loving Mr. Consistency was on pole position. Even with the best case scenario
if I could get to second Arvore would surely have a insurmountable lead. After two full laps I found myself 4th and was about to make my first league racing mistake. Going into turn one I thought I broke early enough and was a car length and a half away from Sham Alert but later found out he felt contact that sent him into the gravel. Poor guy got punted last week and now this! Sometimes I just can't figure this game out because last week I was sure I hit Femki on a pass and pulled over but later found out from a PM that no contact was made and this week I thought for sure that no contact was made only to find out from the chat there was indeed contact!
Now if that wasn't bad enough on lap 3 with The Hog on my tail I screwed up turn 4 once again! I entered turn 4 with the brakes applied and the car started bouncing like a pogo stick taking away any speed I had. Ordinarily this wouldn't be a problem but with a racer on your tail expecting you to go through the corner about 20 km's faster it causes the racer behind you either brake hard or tap your tail. Today after watching the video I found out Hog taped my tail sending him into the wall, I don't think he could have done anything different to avoid hitting my bumper
This race was just a disaster for me and I have no intention of doing a make up race since I was booted on lap 7. This car on this track is just not a good match for me and I'll gladly sacrifice my points with Sham Alert or The Hog if they want them.
London River 2nd
This race was pretty non eventful for me and the only reason I got 2nd because of my car of choice, the Charger will make up for lack of experience on a track with just sheer horsepower. My only hope for winning on this track was if nobody picked the muscle car. That didn't happen but I was very happy finishing 2nd...
