A 3.8l twin turbo V6 at 550hp should be able to produce over 1200nm....

No.

1200nm of torque at ~3250rpm is 550hp.

And there is no way you can make 800+ ft-lbs of torque from a 3.8L on pump gas without things being ridiculously trick, to the point of it being completely impractical.

my F6 downstairs has a single turbo blowing a 4.0l I6 and it only makes 480hp at the wheels but 1200nm.

Again, your torque number is grossly inflated. I can believe an F6 making a good bit more torque than horsepower but not that much more, particularly considering (again) the internal stresses caused by that type of torque-to-displacement ratio and the fact that it'd have to run out of breath at around 2800rpm to only make 480hp.

Maybe if you were talking about actual diesels, but even then you're saying these <5L 6cyls should be capable of reliably making more torque than any of the HD pickups currently on the market stateside...

Finally someone admits you need displacement to make torque.

Youtube skids 4 kids dyno day, it's the silver ute. I'll hunt down the dyno sheet when I get home this.afternoon and I'll take a pic of it with my user so this.doesn't end up in the Ludicrous claims thread....

I stand by my beliefs on diesel hp/torque however, when designed and tuned right a diesel is definitely capable of such outputs.

I wouldn't go quite that far. Displacement = torque output, yes, but forced induction "replaces" displacement... Problem becomes resisting detonation with the cylinder pressures required to make a certain amount of torque from a certain displacement.

Oxygen intake (along with correct fueling and combustion) is what ultimately determines torque, whether it be with normal aspiration or forced induction it doesn't matter.

I saw a GT-R with a Nismo badge on it..

/\ I've seen a Toyota Celica with both TRD and Nismo stickers....

Which is exactly why turbo engines run huge amounts of torque (like my F6) when they can run lots of boost. Considering a diesel engine runs high compression ratios when turbocharged to something like 20+lbs of boost they can make ridiculous amounts of torque.

Still waiting.

this is going to be related to their motorsports program and the opening of the Yokohama plant.

YOKOHAMA, Japan - Nissan Motor Co. is planning a major announcement around future plans for performance when it opens a new factory for its NISMO motorsports and performance tuning arm on Tuesday morning, Feb. 26 near Yokohama (Monday evening, Feb. 25 in the U.S.).

Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn will headline the announcement, which is expected to reveal a new direction for NISMO's core mission.

Well-known to motorsports and performance car enthusiasts and re-introduced at the Chicago Auto Show earlier this month, NISMO has nearly 30 years of motorsports expertise and proven tuning capabilities for road cars, and for its millions of global gaming and virtual fans NISMO products are about to become much more of a reality.

Nissan has invested in an entirely new facility for NISMO's operations, redeveloping a former production site to give it a new home with expanded technological capacity. The new site replaces NISMO's prior location in Omori, Japan, and includes a larger showroom for up to eight vehicles plus a retail outlet.

Nissan has already begun introducing NISMO-badged performance versions of its road car products.

There is a NISMO GTR coming as part of their global roll out of the new NISMO branded cars but i dont think it will arrive until after the face lifted GTR debuts this November at Tokyo Motor Show

They should have made this:

Was a preview for the last generation Sentra's styling, and would have been a GREAT car to base the SE-R on. But nooooo...

NISMO GTR confirmed in the next 12 months! Like i expected they are holding off on it until the refreshed EBA-R35 is unveiled this fall..

Oh yeah I will be getting one ..cant wait!

Jalopnik says that all that got announced was a NISMO GT-R.

Bah. What a shame. I was expecting an announcement related to motorsports, something like the new DTM/SuperGT joint-regulations racecar or perhaps even an LMP1 project or a V6 Turbo engine for F1. But no. Nothing like that. An even faster GT-R that will make it even less affordable than what it originally was. Yawn...

a 2014 entry into Le Mans was announced as an all electric car

Thanks for the info :), but I didn't found anything related to what you said about the LM entry on the forum you sent me. Still, sounds promising. The Garage 56 initiative by the A.C.O is getting better and better every year: First the DeltaWing, now the Green GT Hydrogen thingy, an all electric Nissan next year? Awesome! The only thing better I can think of is Nissan deciding to joining the fray on LMP1 like Porsche will do in 2014.

They are supplying engines for some of the LMP2 entries this year in addition to the all electric car next year at Le mans

If Nismo is getting into doing a regular production tuned car similar to the evo or sti I would seriously consider their products with my next purchase. 👍

Im cant wait to see it more than probably anyone. my expectations are 600hp with hopefully bringing a version of the over boost function back from the specV....a very aggressive aero kit with a wing you can take a nap on. throw in some extra cooling, carbon accents with some alcantara race seats... All that for under 150K and im first in line.

oh c'mon you got to go big with the wing on a proper NISMO GTR haha!!

the nismo leaf that debuted at the tokyo auto salon in jan was basically an appearance package. i wouldnt expect much more. I sat in one of those nismo leaf RC cars a few years ago it was pretty cool.
