So it's Ganassi V. Panoz? Does anyone else see this ending badly for both sides?
No, it's Ganassi AND Panoz v. Bowlby and Nissan.

Chip Ganassi owns DeltaWing, LLC. DeltaWing, LLC licenses all of it's patents and Intellectual Property to a group called DeltaWing Project 56, LLC, which is made up of a group of people and run by Don Panoz.

When Bowlby first thought up of the DeltaWing, he was an employee of Chip Ganassi Racing. Apparently, as part of his contract, all of his intellectual property is automatically owned by CGR. Ganassi then formed DeltaWing, LLC and Bowlby was terminated from his CGR contract to work for DeltaWing, LLC. Bowlby then left DeltaWing to work for Nissan and 8 months later, the ZEOD appears.

Ganassi and Panoz are basically saying two things. 1) Bowlby has no rights to use DeltaWing's IP because all of his IP was forfeited to Ganassi as part of his contract and therefore Nissan is using DeltaWing's IP illegally and should cease and desist all work on the ZEOD and the BladeGlider, and 2) Nissan owe them money as part of their "oral" Sponsorship agreement for Le Mans 2012.

It's like a car version of a Can-Am Spyder Roadster.

Horrible idea. Think of how badly the crash tests will go; the DOT will never approve it for the US.

Well, Deltawing race car's Le Mans 2012 shunt proved crashes aren't too bad. In fact, on par with any other car.

So out of the blue we get an updated concept it seems...

Weirdly I'm less excited about this now than I was three years ago. I admire any company wishing to make electric cars more exciting, but I'd prefer they got on with making the Leaf a better car.
