Nissan GT-R - Haters gonna hate...

Where's all the hate? I personally like it and thought it was widely praised.

That's what I thought too. The worst I've seen is some posts where people say it's probably a little faster in the game than in real life.

It's amazing how wide and aggressive looking the GT-R is in real life. I hadn't seen one "in the flesh" until a few months ago and when parked, it really is ridiculously wide. For some reason, I never thought of it as a particularly aggressive looking car on tv. Wow!

What I wonder with the GTR IRL, is how much faster than supercars would it be, if you spent the savings upgrading the car?

In game I've found it to be a good car, if a little handicapped by it's 4wd in the bends with slight understeer.

I don't get it. It's heavy, has seating for four, is relatively cheap, and yet it is one of the best performing vehicles you can buy today.

Did Nissan sign a contract with Satan?

There is one about 5 feet from me right now. This one is red...looks much better in black or dark gray (polished metal sort of colour).

Cost in Canada (BC) is approx 124k with all taxes included. Which is by far the best litteral bang for your buck with cars in my opinion. By the way you can't judge looks of this car until you see it in person. Pictures and even the game don't do it justice. Gorgeous car and amazing sound.

If anything it's not that good in GT5. They didn't get the handling right at all.

Ever driven one?

I think they nailed it actually.

And to add to the manual shifter comment...
A massive part of the reason this car is so fast and out performs cars well out of it's price range is its transmission. Manual would slow it down incredibly.

.... If I had the money for the GT-R, I wouldn't buy one. I'd rather have a nice Camaro and save some money.

A Camaro? Terribly under-performing car and not that good to look at either. For looks, I'd go for the Challenger- simple line yet muscular. For performance, the new Mustang can't be beat (unless of course by a GTR).

If you see the cars around there, the GTR must be a fantastic car to be able to drive this fast.

I think the star of these cars would be the ZR1 RWD and gobs of power unlike the AWD on the GT-R.

The ACR is nice but the ZR1 is a full car while the ACR is a racecar

Just danced my stock 07 GT-R round the Nurburgring for four laps. Best fun I've had in ages. :)

Such a brilliant car, on such a brilliant track.

If anybody thinks they're biased on TopGear in favour of British cars, you didn't see that episode with the McLaren MP4. Yes it blew the doors off the Ferraris in lap times but afterward Clarkson said something is missing, it has no zing, no art, no joy and a few other negative things.

As for the tires, didn't they disqualify Mchael Schumacher's Ferrari FXX because it had racing tires?

I agree, when they came out I had respect for them but a few months ago i saw one at a gas station. I was surprised how much better they look in person. Also i wish i could watch the new top gear episodes.

Last year I was lucky enough to get to ride shotgun in a customer's GT-R and I was blown away. The in-gear acceleration in particular is tremendous. I drive an old MkIV Golf GT TDi so I'm not exactly overly experienced with high performance but it truly was awesome to me.

Nice handling, nice sound(in real life), mediocre looks. My only real rant is it looks and feels heavy in-game.

That's pretty affordable. Currently I'm in Singapore. Over here it cost US$330k. Which is around S$401k for the 2012 model.

I like the GTR alot, but somehow it is too fast in my eyes. Dont get me wrong, i have no problem with such high powered cars, but I would like something that would compete with BMW M3s, Mercedes C63 or Mitsubishi Evos. Something around 400-450 HP and 1500 kg.

Its just that the 370z is way slower than the cars i mentioned, but the GTR is mostly too fast to be useful in games like GT or Forza.

And because it's not Road legal.

I think the MP4-12c's TG time is correct. I'll throw a theory or two in there as to why: a) The new stig is faster (Or seems to be from what i've seen and the times set since he arrived) and b) Gambon corner has been flattened which means it can be cut and still keep the wheels on the ground.

These theories may also explain the big gap between the old GTR and the new GTR. Two seconds is a bit much of an improvement in my opinion, there must be something that has changed other than the car. Condition changes can have an effect, but it it's in the dry and on the same tyres, you're talking miniscule amounts.

I love the GTR, the looks, the performance versus the price, the practicality etc. The only problem I have with it is I don't own one. In GT5 it seems to be just where it should be. It's very good overall but there are better cars in the corners and better cars on the straights. It doesn't really excel anyway except for ease of driving compared to similar cars.

Agreed. New Stig is defo faster. 2 seconds?? I suspect a little of all of the above contributed, new car, new Stig, flatter track.

I'd love to have a real drive of one, not going to happen though. Irritatingly, the son of one of the guys I work with has just bought one, at the tender age of 30. To rub salt in the wound, my line manager has just bought an Evo X. The previous owner of the Evo traded it in for a GT-R..!! Dagnamit..!! Are these people purposely 🤬 with my head..??
