Cockpit view people, cockpit view or it didn't happen ;)

And off track slipperyness (a real word?) set to real ?
 
i showed bumper cam since im assuming that is the view that most people use, considering that only a select few cars actually have cockpit view. off track slipperiness (lol) was default, so no it was not set to real. the grass was slippery enough for me already!
 
So how many of these times are set with all aids off (Except ABS), real off track slippyness, cockpit view (as this car does have cockpit view) ?

Just curious, because it isn't as easy as alot of these videos are making out, with these settings.

And Megadarren, select few? about 200 in fact.

*sigh* This comment is just silly. Are you going to discredit everyone's lap times if they don't use cockpit view? Its a matter of preference, and people can play the game however they like. I actually prefer cockpit view, I used it in Forza 3, iRacing (duh), and pretty much any game where it was available. But I don't use it in GT5 for a couple of reasons. One, I don't like switching back and forth between bumper and cockpit. I'm new to Gran Tursimo so I'd rather stick with one pov for consistency while I learn the game. And two, cockpit view makes me nauseous! Maybe the screen shake is excessive, maybe I'm sitting too close to my tv, but whatever it is I can't stand it. I wonder if there will be a filter for cockpit view when the leaderboards come out? I just hope they don't force cockpit view for GT Academy...I'd be screwed!

So anyway, I improved my time again to a 7:17.097. Video coming for those who are interested in seeing a pretty clean lap.

And don't worry, for those of you still trying to get the trophy...you can beat it using any camera view you like and it will still count! :)

It's not his sense of humour, it's the fact that he comes from a Forza background. There were so many elitists on the Forza boards that bickered over what assists the top drivers (of which megadarren, or AJ The Boy as he is known in Forza) used or didn't use to run their times. People who couldn't keep up would always try to credit the top leaderboard drivers talents to the fact that they used the driving line, or a controller instead of the wheel. We all wondered when these 'slower' drivers would start saying that 3rd person view was an assist, that the only real times should be done in cockpit.

We used to joke about how the really good drivers would run times with no assists, in cockpit view, on a 19 inch SD TV.

It just seemed that someone was always looking for an excuse to justify why these guys were so much faster than themselves. It was really tiring. I am sure AJ didn't understand that you were just joking, and probably figured that you were just being like all the other people back in Forza. I can assure you that he is not lacking in a sense of humour, he just took your comment in the wrong context.

So are we just supposed to assume that those are sports hard tires, or....? And presumably we're also assuming no small mods are being done to any of these cars in these videos also?
Not saying it's an unbelievable time posted, but curiosity has the best of me right now.
 
Thanks factory, and sorry Doctor for getting a little cheeky with you. I guess I took your comments the wrong way. GTP is definitely a different scene than that over at FM.net.

@ CSLACR, The lap was run in Time Trial mode with the GTR '07 from the car list, but I guess there really isn't a way to prove it. Its stock with sport hard tires though, hopefully when the leaderboards show up I'll be able to verify that.
 
I figured I'd use this thread instead of making a new one and spamming the board up. I need tips, I've only managed one lap without being invalidated it's...sooo ashamed...8.13.1 I need real help with this circuit.

Getting fed up with the track, The less mistakes either the slower I go or I somehow again get invalidated...

Any tips for controlling the car guys? Really would like to be faster on the 'ring than I am. Sorry about my persistency. I would just like to tackle this track quickly. :)
 
I did this last night. Wrecked hard my first time out....and my second time. Pretty much wrecked my third time but kept her facing the right direction and still ended up with a 7:26 on the nose.

Needless to say it was eventful. :lol:

yep, i have the latest update.

anyway, here is my new best lap...7:18.771. this time i show that i am indeed using sport hard tires! =P

check out the two ridiculous drifts early on. between that, and missing a ton of apexes, there is a lot of time left out there. i wouldnt doubt that 7:15's are possible.

Awesome lap - congrats :drool: I didn't think I would have too much trouble with this one but so far my best is 7:30 (so close - yet so far :indiff: ) I'm using a wheel for the first time with GT5 so hopefully I will improve a little.
Did you run the TT in Forza? If so what was your time.
