Nitrous only goes to 70hp?

Was at my cousins house and we installed nitrous on a couple of his cars, some stock, some not. When we go into the setting for nitrous in the car settings, he can only adjust it from 10hp to 70hp?

At my house I can adjust 10hp to 100hp?

Any idea why his is lower? We were wondering if some other mod effects the maximum, but we could seem to find it...

I thought shot was more or less the same as the extra hp gained, but I'm by no means an expert on nitrious.

Try nitrous on the Honda Today, all the way up to 100  on a car with 31hp as standard. Practically all I did to it to win the K car beginners championship. :D

once you buy the nos does it automatically refill for free at the start of the next race.....or do you have to buy it again.....?

actually you are right. "shot" means nothing, it's just a word to describe how much power your getting cuz saying "100HP boost" is bad marketing. Shot = HP ie: 50 Shot = 50 HP.

the differing limits kind of get me, as they sem to make little/no sense. I mean, some high-end cars only take 50 or 70 shots while many of your tiny cars with a little 2-banger engine will take a 100 shot. This is worsened by the fact that most of these cars weigh nothing, resulting in a lack of traction on the drivewheels.

Maybe it's goes off compression ratio ? Lower compression = larger shot of nitrous ...

Obviously different for Turbo and N/A engines ...

XCNuse
no its shot, not HP ;)

its limited on some cars, some can only go to 50, it just depends on the car

Very weird, because on my srt-4 it goes to 100... but on his it only goes to 70? I'll have to go back and double check, but thats what i remember..

It depends on how many cylinders the cars engine has, for how much of a hp boost you get with nitrous.

4 cylinders or less = 100
6 cylinders = 70
8 cylinders or more = 50

Easy as that :)

*Note: This applies to the car when fully tuned, not stock, which may or may not vary from above.

Come on dummies, none of you know what a shot of nitrous is, except TR-5. It's a shot of HP, 50hp, 70hp, etc. etc... XCNuse and flip_kc79, it's not 50, 70, or 100 shots of nitrous... Do you push the button 100 times??? NO! All the 50, 70, and 100 means is, that is how much HP you gain by using the nitrous. When you hit the nitrous button, you are giving your motor and extra 50, 70, HP (or whatever you have it set on) via the nitrous. It's a shot of Horse Power. Thats why it lasts longer if you have it on a lower setting like 30, because you are'nt shooting as much nitrous into the motor, and you wont go as fast, but you can use it longer. Hope I cleared it up for ya! And it's not NOS! NOS is a nitrous company called Nitrous Oxide Systems. I don't think anybody refered to it as NOS on here, but people always do!

NOS is a company. Its called nitrous oxide end of discussion.
Whats the largest shot that we are able to use in a race. Ive seen street cars with 150hp shots.

the prelude takes 70, and is a 4 cyl...

it has nothing to do with HP . it represents the air to ntros ratio ..for ex. 70 % nitro + fuel would be the mixture the motor is running on. Thats why when you increase the % amount it runs out faster. You can read about it in the book that comes with the game. or you can google it and learn what it does and how it works to make power. Or do you really think that adding nox to a 60 hp motor will get you 50 to 100 more hp ?
ooops dont know what made me think it would be in the instruction manual...Its actually in the settings..the writing that scrolls along the bottom ...it explains it..you just have to read it.

If that is the NA version of the game, mind telling me which page it is on? I didn't see a single thing about tuning a car.

A 150 shot is a common size for stock LS1 based cars. I have seen stock Vipers spray a 300 shot. The shot sizes go up from there depening on how built the motor is.

So yeah, it would have been cool if the shot sizes were a little bigger in-game.

The most of seen on a stock car is 200 shot on camaro. Do you have a link to that viper. Ive never seen anything more than 200 on a streetlegal car. Maybe in a drag car.

Not true, the amount of power you get from the same amount of nitrous would vary from car to car. Ever think that the "shot" may infact be a volume, like 100ml/s or something? Edit: Obviously, the amount of power gained from a set amount would vary according to RPM, Compression ratio and Displacement. You overlook this too.

GameBoyFX
This game takes shots as percentages of your hp

so u have a 200 hp car taking 10 shot = 220 etc.
I dont think so, my 900 kw N1 skyline is on like 70 shot, no way the nitrous give it and extra 630 kw.
