I'm perfectly fine with how there are no endurance races in GT6, i mean, you can't accurately create a 24 hour race with just 16 cars, no mechanical damage, or cautions. PD is just making do with what they have. If those races are fun enough, i'll do them many times, unlike the one time i did the 24 hours of Le Mans and got bored by about 3 hours in.
It's not that I don't like endurance races, its just that they are very time consuming and many people don't have the time to do them. I do, however, agree with you on the distance option.Yeah, because racing for five minutes is the most accurate you can get...
Really, if you don't like endurances, fine. But don't throw this kind of argument in the discussion.
PD could just put an option to people do endurances in 24 minutes, couple of hours or the full time extend of the event. And everybody will be happy.
But endurance races are a part of the Gran Turismo DNAIf you look what the did to the career mode its is propably good that there are no endurance races...
There is no damage, the AI cars slows down and let you win, the opponent selection is rediculus (one alway stronger, maybe 2 equal, the rest driving obstacles).
Also no fuel use/tire wear so far (int.B).
Serious question, what do you liked in the 24h races, where they satisfying/challanging to you ?
I alway found them 100% pointless, you could not bin your car, you could get no mechanical failure, you had to drive 24h by yourself (that allone is crazy) instead of switching with bspec. (and no saving too)
The fuel/tire use and laptimes where 100% linear/predictable, so after every car had done one stint you could do the math for who's gonna finish where.
need to check, not sure if racing soft is allowed in some of those races. I thought they are having a much more strict tire limitation to prevent players using racing soft to get easy race wins (especially back when AI are using stuff like sport hard).Weather is not a big factor with the current physics. Traction does suffer a bit in the rain. But my experience so far is that you are FAR better off using the "Racing: Soft" tires, even at 60% water on the track. The "rain" tires seem to have worse traction than the normal tires, even in very wet conditions.
them softs go like free beers ! FAST ! lolneed to check, not sure if racing soft is allowed in some of those races. I thought they are having a much more strict tire limitation to prevent players using racing soft to get easy race wins (especially back when AI are using stuff like sport hard).
I've tried racing hard v.s. intermediate in 20-50% wet condition (in spa), seems like a lot of difference. probably about 10s per lap. for 5 laps, it's the difference for an extra pit stop.
also, not sure about how long racing soft tire lasts, and even if it can last 5 laps in spa, almost wore out soft probably has less grip than half wore out hard.
anyways, a lot more to consider, and all of that matters, that's fun.
maybe good thinking batman =)Maybe you have to get all the stars in the Super events?
But endurance races are a part of the Gran Turismo DNA![]()
Which reminded me to look up how that was done in GTR2 (back in 2006) - the race length for the "24 hour" endurance mode races had these settings : 24 hours, 12 hours, 6 hours, 3 hours, 1 hour, 24 minutesPD could just put an option to people do endurances in 24 minutes, couple of hours or the full time extend of the event. There is the option to save your progress in the long endurance races. You werent forced to do the whole race in one go when the save option was introduced. The argument that the endurance races is time consuming isn't true when you have the option to save your race and jump back into the race when you are ready. I thoroughly enjoyed doing the endurance races and it was even more fun doing a few hour stints with my brother (at his house). Not a huge fan of endurance races for the reasons stated above. Also, wtf wants to be driving for 9 hours or 24 hours? I understand a degree of realism but that's just too much.
The endurance races make sense with B spec so you only drive 8 hours...no one can drive 24 hours realistically.
