I always thought he was atleast tappin' it or something. She wouldn't be the first GF of a member to create an account here.

FYI, internet relationships dont work.

Been there, didn't "do that", wore the shirt of disappointment.

I'm afraid I beg to differ sir.

But anyway, what has that got to do with this... Um, never mind...

I suppose with the rising percentage of computers with webcams nowadays, it becomes easier to keep an internet relationship ;)

My wife played once. (gas pegged) "WaaaaH!". (wheel slammed left, then right, repeat) "whaaaaaa!" (5 seconds later busted Ferrari parked in guardrail) "That GAME makes ME dizzy."

That makes me think of my mum.

Long distance, internet relationships do not work, I can assure you lol
They do, I can assure you. My buddy dated his wife over the internet for a year or so before finally meeting her.

Hell, I was with my ex. for a few years before splitting & we were on separate continents.

now if only you guys could see the big debate about female race drivers on the gt5 board.

not a guy, by the way. ;)

Things that we all have in common on this forum:
*We love cars
*We play video games about cars.
*A playstation consel

It rare to find a girl with the same interest.

  • I hate cars
  • I never play video games
  • I don't own a playstation
  • Everything I just told you is technically a lie
  • Am I a girl or a boy?
  • I can't be asked
  • What gibberish am I typing?

Anyway, there are plenty of girls like this, it's just they don't generally go around screaming "HEY! I'M A GIRL! I LIKE CARS!" and on the internet will generally act like men until something accidentally makes them reveal that they're female.
I knew more girls than boys in school who wanted to be racing drivers when they grew up*, but unlike the boys who wanted to be they didn't go around shouting about it. It's one of the strange effects of that misogynistic social construct we call gender.

*Hell, I had a female teacher / rally driver!

Wow blast from the past.

There are a few ladies on here, perhaps more now than before when this thread was active; Wenders, Mrs F, Lissa, DarkAvenger, Christara...

Probably spelled most of then names wrong but I've got a hangover.

Christara is male. When I race him on GT5, he has a Yorkshire accent.

Also, I believe Lissa's daughter is a member too, though I think she joined only to see CRAP.

She is indeed, Matty, although she's just moved house and has no internet access at the moment. :)

Bruce - possibly the words 'female member' made someone rise to the occasion.

You can add wilson (who has a picture posted in the 'pics of me' thread) and theotherspongey (discoverer of the 'sponge glitch') both who visit the HW collectors thread. But of course, they're females because . . . they say they are.
Some here (at least one vocally) addressed me as a female, even though I've stated many times that I'm male, a Dad, that I have a wife, etc, etc. . .

O.K. Let me go check again.

I'm a girl: 👍

But do genders really matter? We all share one thing in common: A love for cars.

LOL. Didn't read all of the post above me!

I know of a member who used to drees up in his mothers clothes and sing show tunes when he was a kid, what does that count for?

And no it isn't me... I was a lion tamer

He wants to be a prima donna?

It shouldn't, ideally.
However, we have come a long way from the stereotype of the caveman bashing his mate over the head with a club and dragging her out of the cave by the hair, so he could go rolling boulders down a hill against his buddies.
And like a gun, a car is a great equaliser - and is as good as it's user, irrelevant of gender. But as much as we would find that using a gun wrong may be gender-specific, using a car wrong may be not.
Canada, of course, has scores of woman drivers, who, from what I can see, are sometimes more in love with their cars than their boyfriends.
But then - a car can get you a boyfriend faster than a boyfriend can get you a car.
I bet, though, not too many women are into racing, let alone racing-video games. Finding females (who seem to view the car more as luxury utility than a performance prover) into GT5 gaming is not really the norm - and yet, quite noticeably, we do have many female members on the site, and in fact, quite noticeably it seems we are attracting more each day.
Some don't admit it, and are probably having a quiet giggle behind our backs.

As for the whole idea of women and racing . . . there's actually too much talk of that lately. ;)

We all share one thing in common: A love for cars.

For a guy, finding a girl who loves cars, if not with equal passion, at least with some degree of interest, is one of the best things ever. Not too hard the other way around; plenty of guys like cars, so car-loving girls have it easy.
I have three ladies on top of my mind who are car-lovers - one's studying to be a mech, another's been a NASCAR freak for as long as I've known her, another collects diecasts and is a Ford fan and talks about the marque much more informatively than the average male could discuss Coco Chanel and ylang ylang.
You can bet - as a car-lover myself - these ladies are special to me because whatever our differences, we all share one thing in common: A love for cars. And when we get together, we share more than the common bond of the opposite sexes Nature bestowed upon us. We share enjoying the same human emotions of loving, driving, and racing these machines called cars.
