So I recently added a lift kit to my civic and installed about 400 pounds worth of subwoofers into my trunk. Now it looks like the cars in the OP. I asked several people if they thought the suspension is broken, but they just walked away. Anyways, I like the look of it! Sure it steers to the right a bit, but hey, stop signs are meant to be replaced once in a while. And whenever I show up to car shows in it, everybody loves it! They are usually shouting stuff at me, but I can't tell what they're saying because my dubstep is too loud. Oh well...

I actually like the super camber cars more than those stupid hydraulic cars that bounce, i mean it would be nice to ride in one like once just for the fun, but i would never put that on a car of mine.

^My car once looked like that. It was sitting in the middle of the road with its hazards on because a ball joint snapped.

Though I can understand the reason for that, every time I see that I freak a little.
 
I always wondered how they stance cars like the Corolla. Do they bend the rear axle or something?
 
Basically I am so sick of this stance nation BS now.

I hop into a cruise lobby on GT5. And just get hit by a whole crap load of little kids (probably in their early teens judging by the sound of their voices). When i asked them to stop they say go stance your car or we will continue to hit you. Then with a glance at their wheels of course there had to be 10.0 degrees of camber on their cars. I start to tell them ummm i don't want my car to look like I have cement interior so no i will not. They kicked me out of the room.

I mean i understand it is a style but that is taking it too far.

I take comfort in knowing that they will chew through their tyres far faster than the rest of us sane drivers, which will cost them an absolute fortune.

Not only are they morons, but they're paying for the privelige.

a slight camber would be enough I believe. Extreme camber looks just awful :(
 
I don't mind some stance, or some camber (camber in racing makes sense, as pointed out), but it doesn't have to look like the axles are broken. By the way, I doubt leeislee was talking about the practical use in motorsports.
 
But what if its stock? My brother's G35 comes with camber, especially in the rear:

Your first problem is thinking a video game has anything to do with a car scene. GT5 online is basically Call of Duty with cars instead of guns.

Also excessive camber has nothing to do with stancing a car.

Didn't say that at all. And games do play a part with fads you can't deny that.

See basically what I was getting at in that post is the obsessive amount. If you read my whole post and watched that video you will see what I meant. Helaflush is at the limit of good and bad. This big camber crap is taking it too far and is completely pointless. Maybe I worded it wrong.

But no i guess you didn't understand what I was getting at. Probably the way i worded it.

Having a car be "hella flush" simply means that both the rim and the sidewall of the tire stick out of the fender line. The camber part is often just an association with that kind of fitment but is not actually what defines it.

People here seem a little confused about stance and camber. :lol:
Anyways, the fact with Camber is that it's functional on a track (in short, it allows you to corner quicker), excessive camber on the street is idiotic, yes. If it's just for show, then it's down to personal taste. But I can't see why camber in general get's hate if it's a technical way of setting up a car for the track. If you don't understand that, then I suggest you learn something about cars.
Every car on the road comes factory with a certain degree's of camber. Positive and Negative. Negative being the common one.
Usually if the car has a leaf spring suspension setup, then depending on the load of the car, the more weight you have, the more it compresses and gives a 'collapsed' suspension look making the wheels look as though they have negative camber. This only happens to the back of the car, since these suspension setups are only fitted to the rear on small cars.
This happens if you sped 400$ on a sound system in your boot. lmao
 
Running 500BHP+ on the street is idiotic but I bet most of you wouldnt slag it off.

You cant use that power and it sure isnt safe to do so, its all just bragging rights.

Stance is the exact same.

Frankly what someone wants to spend their money on is their problem, they can paint their car bright pink for all I care.

The design is meant to get a rise out of people and god is it doing that.
 
Has any car come with positive camber? I know negative can help with turns, but I can't really see a positive (pun?) with positive camber.
 
Not that I know of, the old car in this thread that has been quoted a number of times has positive camber. That's back when they didn't fully understand suspension and steering geometry I guess. Haha... maybe someone else can answer your question better. :)

From the right angle my Miata appears to have positive camber in the front, I use it as an excuse when I lose at an autocross.
 
Don't quote me on that, I think they used positive camber to improve behavior in a strait line as those old cars had kind of wobbly wheels, suspension,...
It probably affected turns negative though.

as you can see in the picture above, they added also toe.

Those three (except the first and third picture) are a great example of what I was talking about as far as looks going too far and being done right
