Sunday was coming to an end, while the raceday here in Autumn Ring, Australia had proven to be a success for me. Finishing first in my first race here, I was quite happy with myself, and of course the car.
Oh before I forget, let me introduce myself. My name's Max. 20 years old, been out of high school for three years working as a pizza boy. Yeah yeah, I know I should get a better job but what can I say? I love the people who I work with, and I love driving my car. I reside in the outskirts of Melbourne in a suburb called Black Rock which is along the coast, about an hour away from the city centre.
I love cars, and here's the only car I've ever owned from day one - a 1983 Mitsubishi Lancer GSR turbo. Here's a photo of it outside my apartment near where I live, The first day I got it.
To this day, it's stock standard, and only has 99,000km on the clock.
Well that's enough about me, back to my track day...
The time was approximately 7pm, and I was one of the few racers left to exit the ring. as I was under my car checking for any leaks, I heard someone approach.
"Point zero zero one of a second. That's the closest race that has ever happened here. You're one hell of a driver, kid." he said.
I pulled myself out from under the car to see a short man wearing a suit. He started to stare at me, and never once blinked. He gave off an uncomfortable vibe.
"Uh..Thanks?" I responded with a perplexed look on my face.
The short man crossed his arms.
"We could use a driver like you." he responded.
"No thanks, I like my life" I was quick to remark. I slid back under the car to continue checking for leaks.
A chilling breeze started to blow, which freaked me out a little. The short man then reached inside his jacket, placed an envelope on the bonnet of the car and started to walk off.
"Open that when you get home. That is in Black Rock, isn't it?"
I froze for a second. How did he know where I live? I slid back from the car and got up. He wasn't in sight. The breeze blew again and that did it for me. Becoming anxious, I picked up the envelope, started the little Lancer, and sped home into the sunset.....to be continued
Part 2 to come, find out what was inside the envelope!
Comments welcome
