Crash number 4. :grumpy:

EDIT: Make that 5. What the 🤬?

EDIT 2: Make that 6. For real?

EDIT 3: You can't make this up people; make that 7. I'm getting off of this planet. Luckily there's no physical disc to chuck into a fan blade.

Just purchased it and i'm gonna start later tonight. Wish me luck fellas

Are renamed planets not unique to yourself then? As a test, ive just named a planet the same as my brother named his...it let me do it. I thought that was the whole point of renaming something - no one else can use that name??

Not sure buddy. I hoped the names would be unique but I guess not. I added Theo the other day, he was playing away. :)

Finally got to play a bit on the PC. It was super laggy at first. Things seemed to settle down the more I played it. Guess it was still building the world. I'm curios how it will perform once my monitor gets here. Looking forward to 1440p@165hz if my system and if the game will allow it.

First thing I noticed right off is, too few slots. Man, I need to build a donkey drone or something so I can pack more resources.

Cool game so far, like the very non-linear approach.

I'm glad. I'm sick and tired of online games that keep saying "Unavailable. That name is already used"

What is the maximum standing you can get with a alien colony? Right now I am at partner and I don't know if that is max or is there more?

Got me a 21-slot ship with decent weaponry and defense for 850k. Much better to fend off the pirates. I thought that pirates don't follow you into the atmosphere, but I just found out that some of them do. :D Also saw a 29-slot ship for 3.5 million, but that was 'slightly' over budget.

I had some pirates tracking me as I was approaching a planet, and I couldn't be bothered fighting, so I went down to the planet and they didn't follow. I thought that was the end of that, but about an hour or more later when I left the planet, they were waiting for me right outside the atmosphere!

Thankfully I upgraded my ship pretty early on (started in a good first system, and explored all the planets there before leaving, so I ended up quite well upgraded for my first jump to another system), so I've so far been able to easily take out two pirates at a time. Since then I haven't bothered running, I just wait for them when the game warns me of their scans. Sometimes you get some cool stuff for taking them out, including increased standing with the locals.

So is it ships about the only way to get more inventory slots or have you seen the suit with be able to upgrade slots as well?

I'm only a couple of hours in, and having fun :)
Read of a lot of issues people were having on PC, was worried I would be the same seeing as my system is getting a bit old now, but so far no crashes, and steady FPS at med-high graphics, don't know if I'm just lucky, but yeah so far so good.

You can find slot upgrades for your suit, lookout for drop pods littered across the planet(s).

You can pinpoint where they are by looking for certain outposts that have orange waypoint beacons, and search for shelters.

@Pako @Terronium-12

If you are very lucky on a planet you can find about maybe 5 or 6 within walking distance of each other.
I had one planet like that where I flew around trying to find a trading post instead I was finding drop pod after drop pod. :/ I ignored it since I was saving up for a ship instead.

I'll add to that, if you're having trouble finding drop pods, you can get suit upgrades in every space station once you've got the Atlas pass v1.

Searching for atlas pass v1 or v2 at this point. Got the game running pretty good now. Up to 135 FPS outside now. Mmmmm

Photo Bomb [PC] version.

i7 3770k, GTX1080 FTW, Asus 1080p@144hz.
Note on in game settings, turned vSync off as this was locking to 60hz, not monitors default 144hz refresh rate. Also changed Maximum FPS to "Maximum".

First couple of hours played and no problems so far. The amount of slots are too low! :)

Need to find more places to sell stuff because i'm quite the hoarder.

Without too many spoilers: you get an Atlas pass simply by progressing, or did I miss something in the beginning? (not that I'm too worried about running out of stuff to do )

What do you guys to earn units? So far I've been mining gold and other precious materials, not sure if there are faster ways?

I've also noticed that I use any extra inventory slots (either ship or suit) for upgrades, rather than extra cargo capacity, anyone try the other way (hardly any upgrades, just extra cargo)?

Has anyone found one of those Portals which were shown off in the early videos? I've found one on my home world and its inactive.

Got 29 suit slots, over 5,500,000 units, the hyperdrive blueprints and I've still not left my starting planet yet ..... now thinking about seeing if I can change the name of the planet I've already named to 'Goldmember'
A bit more grinding for another couple of million and I can go looking for a heavily armed Rolls Royce of a spaceship to explore the galaxy in :D

Epic! My starting planet was not too bad, but my buddy started at a radiated storm planet that tried to kill him constantly.

My old man is playing the game too and he found himself on a planet which was high in radiation with hostile security. He then tried another planet and the security just started to kick his ass all over the planet no matter what he did.

A couple minor game mechanics I've observed that I'm wondering if anybody can confirm?
Every time you find a crashed ship it will have 1 more slot than the ship you have? I haven't bought a new ship yet, I'm still saving so I can try and get one close to 30 slots. Every time I found a crashed ship it always had 16 slots (remember, starter ship has 15), so today I decided to take one (a yellow Tiberium Shuttle type vessel), and now every crashed ship I find has 17 slots. This now makes me wonder, when you look at buying ships in a space dock, physically small ships tend to have very few slots. If you bought a big ugly freighter with 28-30 slots, could you then find a better looking, smaller crashed ship that has one more slot than what you have?
Also, when you buy a better ship, does the game spawn in better ships at space stations for further upgrades? Most of what I've seen so far is crap, my entire time playing I've seen one ship with 30 slots and one with 28.
It seems too that the best way to upgrade your multitool is to get lucky when you talk to aliens. Occasionally they'll "offer you theirs" for free which from what I can tell is always 2 slots better than the one you have. They normally look way better as well. My current multitool has 12 slots. I swear it took nearly 10 systems before I found a planet with Chrysonite on it so I could rebuild the upgrades on my new multitool. I think I've got over 30 slots in my suit now. Sitting on $3 million.

From what I know is that ship upgrades are always 1-4 better than yours. Although there will be some times where you will find bigger ones at Space Stations/Trading posts. (I think at one point I had a 16 slot one and there was one for 24)

The multi tool can sometimes be better than what you have. I had one where I could of had it free but it was 2 slots lower than what I had. (Then I made a mistake and didn't take one that was offered because I hit the O button by mistake, although it wouldn't of lasted anyways since within 20 minutes I had a better one anyways.) Those are always about 1-2 better than what you have. (Mostly)

Edit: For my take.
I am really lucky that finding everything on a planet seems to be easy. So far I have found 9 completely empty planets. Although I am still on the search for an atlas pass v2.

Sweet, so I should probably just buy something in the 24-28 range then so the game will give me way better stuff more often. It does bring to light the grind required to get much better ships though since you'll need to buy lots of interim vessels to get better stuff to spawn in.

win10 fx 9590 32gb ram 1070 gtx ... 120-140 fps avg but i put the fpx max on 90 so iam playing at about 60-70 fps and its very very smooth no lags no nothing , very smooth

no glitches no crashes just nothing .

only glitch - bug i have is with my ship i can´t recharch my photon cannon somehow :/

but i kinda like this game alot .

I find it funny, on this freezing cold planet (pretty much like Hoth...) that has extreme storms that kill your sheilding in 30secs, I saved myself by making a hole into a big gold rock, getting into it, and hollowing it out from the inside - while doing this my shield recharged from the "warmth" :dopey:

---

On that note, playing this game, is like we are the Alien invaders from various movies.
We come in, leech the land of resources and leave....

It's subtle things like this that make me smile. Like how your ship becomes progressively faster if you travel higher in the atmosphere (or out of it).
