i just tried out the multiplayer, won 3 races against 5-8 players
but i dint got any reward at all!

whats up with this????

PD doesn't understand the concept of of online play in any other way besides very basic, cant expect much from them on their first time, go try FM3 or other for decent online racing with cash and exp points.

Why should you get money or xp from playing multiplayer? You could just phone some friends and tell them to let you win.

I'm guessing you have never played any other online games before.

Why would you play any game if there was no reward within the game for winning?

Geesh what a lack of common sense, and yes he never has played other online games before or would never had made such an imbecilic statement. And racing online is not just for you and your friends, but also random strangers, so if your racing game has online ranks and your racing someone ranked higher than you and you beat them, you get cash as a reward, and rank up. I know its apparently completely new to you but this is how online racing usually works, it makes the indefinably re playable.

online is needing some rewards even halved if anything, but the servers should host certain specialized events that would give incentive to build machines that you wouldn't have regularly. And those events hosted by PD should have higher rewards then the game would give at that level plus 15%

They did a pretty good job with prologue online, i dont see how they could go and make it worse, or maybe just more busy looking. Havent played online much yet cause everybody is just playing the pre-fab online cars and not really having any structured races. I think all the die hards are playing the career to amass track memory and cars that really are tuned for YOUR driving style. PWT wheel here with home made built rig ...

Fun? That is what games are supposed to be for, after all. We've run fourteen-and-two-half GT3/4 LANs with no in-game reward in the last eight years - though I bought a trophy for use in the seventh one and we've given out awesome 1:73 Matchbox cars and Lego as event prizes too. And the Golden Controller, of course.

GTPSP/GT5P had online/multiplayer prize money, so it's a surprise that GT5 doesn't.

maybe they new they wouldn't be able to handle the online traffic yet so they figured to keep peoples interest high in the game they would keep improving the online play on a continual basis, you can say at this point they are pretty damn good marketing geniuses. Making tons of people paying for a big demo... lol just great and all the hype from years ago... i think they will improve the game constantly faster than maybe I expect but none the less, you can bet for a brand like GT they will do everything in their power to keep the word of mouth positive. What they ultimatly want it a highly competetive community who takes pride in playing a simulator like real instead of always knocking people off the track. That stuff just takes all the fun out of an intense battle. sometimes you can tell when it was probly an accident, and when it really knocks you off the track messing up all your race..... anyway seya later typing too much

Did you ever play a game just for the fun of it, instead of taking it so serious that others sabotage your efforts and many others just to gain what would be considered small pennies in the grand scheme of things.

This I feel is a good step towards people actually having fun on games again rather than taking every part of the game so seriously, just enjoy racing, cruising or whatever with new people in some beautiful cars.:sly:

No doubt it's to stop people from finding easy races in multiplayer, getting the big payouts and then using the moey to access bigger, betetr and faster cars sooner.

Also, you should probably do something about your atrocious grammar.

PD screwed that pooch with the Stealth cars. If they really wanted everyone to play the game correctly, they wouldn't let some of the most powerful cars in the game be a pre-order bonus.

My guess is that it is part of that "living creature" of updates. It gives everyone time to play through the single player, then there will be a patch for money in certain online events.

Can someone ask the question for me (I don't have 100 posts and can't get into chatroom)..

How to unlock NASCAR (Not training but actual races)?

Or otherwise just answer it for me here. Sorry to the thread starter, but this is really bugging me.

While I completely agree with you on the fun part I do think they should allow us to progress in the game without having to race against AI or do the same race over and over just for cash.
I have a lot of fun in gt racing against real people with new cars that I can't afford if I don't play offline.
I'm not complaining since Ive been in love with GT since GT1 and had no online for almost a decade but GT5P with it's multiplayer brought video game racing to a whole new level and I would rather avoid offline if possible (except licenses, I love them :p ).
Still having fun offline but for me it can't compete with the variety of online. I know I could avoid completely offline but in my opinion of fun I would miss out a lot of fun new cars.

Then again rewards, ranks and cash in online play can make people more agressive, less fair-play etc. so I can understand why they would want to leave it off online but thats why I joined gtplanet so I wouldnt have to deal with this behaviour ;)

Money fpr online races is very important. Leaderboards even more important. As for ranking I thought it was cool when I first started playing Forza but now I think a game is better without it. What I found on Forza is that a lot of people who were ranked high did not want to run unless they were pretty sure they could win and olayers that were ranked low were more likely to punt someone who is ranked high in order to grab ranking points. All in all it made the game less fun than it would have been without any ranking system at all.

I think it would be good to do some sort of hidden ranking for match making purposes also keeping track of how often you have a major wreck and match the good drivers together and the punters can punt each other.

Definitely need leaderboards so everyone can see how they stack up in the Gt world, need porize monet to buy those super expensive cars. Need a method to invite a friend into the race you are in wether it be a lounge or open lobby.

For me online game is the most important feature in this game. I'm doing career mode just for practice/explore the game...
If I can't earn money, or get a rank, or compare my timelaps with other players, this game has no sense....
Of course you can play just for fun... But there's a lot of players (i think most players) who wants something more in order to get nices challenges...

I second that.
Plus some leagues would be a nice addition to leaderboards.

After playing the game for 10 or so hours, I agree it's great, but PD
has a lot of catching up to do in regards to online functionality.
Cheers

This is the difference between Sim Racers and Game Players…

iRacing is really the only Racing Sim that I know of that gives you something for racing online, but iRacing is an online based game so it’s a little different and not fair to compare… N2003, who’s following is still strong about 8 years after it’s release, is still strong today and guess what? You get nothing out of online play other than the thrill of winning (and meaningless stats)…

If anything you should all embrace this… It will make for much better and cleaner racing. If you want to earn XP and credits…Go play Black Ops…If you want to experience a good race on simply the best console sim you could possibly ask for a the moment – shut up, stop crying, earn credits and XP in GT Life and take the online feature for what it is…which is to see how you do against the rest of the world.

yeah well in all those games you talked about money isnt that important
in gt5 it is.
giving no rewards for online, makes everybody less competitive to
also would you do a 2hour endeurance race online if you get absolutely nothing?
i woulnd say 'best console sim' either
for a game that was suppose to compete with forza3 and even got delayed more then a year, i think they should of come up with someting better
if you take away all those gt4 imported standard cars, would gt4 still be better then forza3?
dont get me wrong i love this game and i love the way the premium cars, and tracks look, but the rest could of been ALOT better

sorry for any spell mistakes, engish is not my language

Yes I would race 2 hour endurance with no reward - I've done it in other sims that between practice, qualifying and the race it would be over 2 hours and guess what - I got no money, cars or XP for doing it. It was all about the race itself.

It is the best console sim... What Forza is better? Again, saying that tells me all I need to know about what kind of Sim Racer some are on here... Forza doesn't hold GT5s jock when it comes to physics. I don't care about what you can do to the cars in Forza, what cars they have that GT5 doesn't... none of that matters when I'm driving and ho much better GT5 feels...

Maybe Need for Speed gives rewards for online play and I think thats where some of the complainers belong...

I agree with the principle you're talking about, I'm playing this game for fun and I do not need anything more as an incentive for me to play online but the comparisons you're making are not fair since the games you're talking about makes all the cars available so if you want to play online only, you can do so without missing anything. In GT I do have to race offline if I want to be able to afford new cars, this is where, in my opinion, the difference is.
Give me access to all the cars in the game and I'll probably never touch offline mode and never complain about not winning anything from online (except not winning races :nervous: )

Too many online cheats that ruin it for everyone else I'm afraid. If you have no reward then there is no reason to cheat. I like what they have done so far with GT5 and last night I met a few racers in a room and it was nice clean racing just about seeing who was the best driver. We even set horse power limits for each race. If you have a room with fair racers and some structure you can really enjoy the online mode. Let the rogue drivers play with rogue. I think later on a patch will be released where you can take part in events like online version of a gran turismo world championship where you race over a series of tracks and the one with the most points wins the series and maybe for that you'd get either XP points or some serious cash!

Online should be stat heavy but it isnt, there needs to be rankings and data availaible so you can compare against other online racers...surely a must for a "sim" racer? Hopefully updates in the future will provide this..fingers crossed!

ya... im not too interested in playing online yet... the game after developing for 5 years is still so unpolished....

Ive been playing GT for fun since the original, and now I would like to play for an actual reason, competition, rewards, ect. GT5s physics+FM3s online smorgasbord= perfection, to hard to get em in the same game dammit.:yuck::yuck:
