I've just remembered that F1 cars are no more in GT6. Don't you know why. I thought maybe some licencion issues? Really don't know. Any ideas?

There was a licencing issue, as Codemasters currently holds the F1 licence to make F1 games and to include F1 cars in them. Apparently, the reason was that by adding more F1 cars, PD would be infringing on the licence that they don't hold, which can cause legal issues.

But they didnt need to add more cars, just keep the ones from the previous game.
And then with the Senna DLC they added the Lotus 97T. All of them ('85 Lotus, '07 Ferrari and '10 Ferrari) are all "F1 cars from the past" so I dont see much difference in them.

The idiosyncrasies of the F1 licence and what it entails have been debated about as much as the Porsche one. About the only thing that I think is known for sure (I believe explained by Famine) is that PD couldn't allow the Ferrari F1 cars to race anything else in the game but other Ferrari F1 cars even if they can get individual licences for the cars.

The CM excuse doesn't make sense.
GT5 had the 2007 & 2010 Ferrari F1 cars, how does CM's license of the current season affects the inclusion of older F1 cars that were in the previous game?

The scope of the license for the Ferrari cars in GT5 might have been limited to just that, GT5. It's an incorrect assumption to say that once they have a license they can keep using it until the term expires... virtually any other reasonable limitation you can think of, can be reasonably applied. Could they have re-licensed them for GT6? Perhaps, but we don't know what the cost is, and whether PD thought it was justified. We also don't know what contractual obligations Ferrari have with other companies.

... in short. Unless they tell us, speculating the contents if licenses is pretty futile.

I recall it being 2 F1 cars max from different seasons.

Agreed, if they can't bring licensed F1 cars, make their own in cooperation with some manufacturer like they did with RedBull!
No need for that, just bring back the fake ones, it would be easy, quick, and no need for any license.

And I just assume they not be in the game at all if that's the case, even if licensing permitted their presence.

Attaining the license for the F1 cars are entirely different to acquiring Ferrari license. I remember an article way back during the GT5: Prologue days, there was mention of how limited these cars will last. It's the same as the Top Gear Test Track.

If it was that simple I'm doubting they would have been mostly removed even before GT3 was released in all territories.

How about the F1 cars from GT3? F686/M, F090/S, F094/S, F094/H, F687/S, F688/S ?
Those were actual F1 cars. The first number indicated the number of cylinders (six for the V6 turbo monsters, 0 for the N/A V10's), the next two numbers indicated the year of the car, and the last letter was the driver's last initial (Hill, Senna, Mansell). They just gave the cars different liveries, made no official mention of them until you won one of them, and honestly I'm surprised there was a lawsuit or several (to my knowledge)

That's the point, they are technically not F1 cars. They are fictional cars resembling F1 cars assigned to no manufacturer. A lawsuit would be pointless for this reason, because it's a loophole which doesn't break copyright or licensing laws of any manufacturer.

The word technically being used VERY loosely

That's exactly what I was talking about.

Even being PD, they can ditch old content too

I do miss them though. It's too bad for you guys in Europe who never got to experience them.
It's not difficult to get hold of a Japanese game and console, so I'm cool with it.

Aren't body designs protected by IP/copyright law, though?
