No New Seasonal Theory

I'm thinking we may not get a seasonal this week because we got 2 last week which may have been done to in lieu of getting one this week while PD is moving some of their studio/staff to another location(an additional facility not a move if the info here is correct)

The seasonals are probably only a few kb in size, all that needs to be set is some text and parameters such as PP, HP, weight, country restrictions, then typical opponents and prizes. That bit of code could be written in 10minutes by whoever does it in PD.

Then it would be all to easy to set it so the files become available automatically at a certain time. In one day they could schedule a years seasonals to come online and they would just need to keep the server up.

I really dont know why there is no new time trials, but damn its frustrating.
For me time trials are the best aspect of the game.
 
I think you're right that the amount of work is likely trival, in fact I think its not even coding...just filling in a parameter table.
My point was more in the vein that the smart move is to avoid having to deal with it, rather than find, for example, when you try to integrate the company workspace with the new facility that you have major issue which will require diddling with the network, potentially preventing an on time seasonal deployment. Or any number of other highly unlikely scenerios could be the reason..OR maybe there isnt even a reason...like..dooh, Kaz, dude, we forgot to do a seasonal Wednesday :D
 
I would assume it's not as easy to do as you make it sound, I'm sure there is some planning and testing involved so it has some sort of challenge to it. The events don't create themselves as much as we want them to.
 
I would assume that will be lots of post of panic every time that PD don't release a seasonal update...

I blame for it to the excesive free time :D
 
My theory is that we are close to getting another game update. Think about, the last few updates we have had, what happened to the seasonals in the lead up to the update? Yep, they didnt refresh. They did refreshed once the update was out.
 
Stop whinning! We got this week's seasonal early, last Thursday. Thank you PD for giving us one early. I can't believe the level of complaining on this site.

And the Time Trials and Drift Trials that cycle every 2 weeks. We didnt get them early.
 
They clearly did it so we can hear people whine and complain about it a little more...let it be, they'll update it eventually.

The complaining comes from buying consumers who were left wanting after the game was and still is lacking in many crucial areas. The biggest of which being content.

People were shocked based on PD's history of delivering the good. I can't blame them one bit.
 
I think due to moving they released seasonal update earlier than usual...
 
Just started shuffle racing a few days ago, and now, Seasonals can wait, lol.

There are other things to do in the game, you know.
 
I have loved my playstation games since i first got a PS1 and resident evil back in 1997. I havent had to many reasons to complain about sony playstations or sony platform games, but anyone who has played sony/SOE online computer games will tell you, theres lots to complain about. This is typical SOE, leave people in the dark, expansions and updates always late or not at all. I am a big fan of the GT franchise and have all the games but this is the first one I have played online and I see the SOE influence creeping into the game.
To me, if you are going to have weekly updates and events then they should come on the same day every week. You have scheduled updates on tuesdays for the playstation store to update, seems like the best time to do it. people are expecting updates so if there is a delay, I dont see why they cant put a short message up on the display like when we do get an update, thats what that message board is for, keeping us informed. An informed customer is more likely to be happy and stick around than one that is left in the dark and guessing.
All that said, bring on the next seasonal!
 
I think the only logical reason for irregular events is that the game is so messed up it's difficult for them to setup an event with AI cars in it. Maybe that's why GT5 took so long to make, they had to individually programme each A-spec event. They don't have a menu tool to just click or type in what cars to put in and know it will work.

If it is so difficult, perhaps GT6 will have to be done from scratch as the GT5 game base will have been a failure.
This is a worst case scenario. Hope it's not right.
 
you already paid for the game. They got your money. They'll make more events when they feel like it. You can't change anything. Be thankful they gave us anything after the release.
 
@Cyborg65 I completely agree with your post, the thing is PD just moved 50 of their workers out of Tokyo. I've heard they have a office dedicated to GT online but it seems like they are going back to the normal, releasing seasonal events every two weeks or so.

+1. Its not as if the games unplayable without seasonals,time trials or other extra stuff.What happens if they stop the seasonals? Are the complainers .going to burn there GT5 discs lol
 
Guys we just need to buy FM4, that's it. Even Kaz wants us to buy it because at PD they're just too lazy to give us cars and tracks. And a dumb livery editor (such as, uh, let-me-put-a-friggin' stripe-here-and-there, no more than that).
 
At least the ferrari @ le mans is still up and running.
 
I wouldn't hold my breath for anything this week.

Bonus events are a bonus... Its funny how when they are late with these updates, it posted everywhere. Put an event out EARLY (last week), and there is very little mentioned other than "how many credits will I grind / earn?", "Do I win a car?", "Is the OCD refreshed? WHY NOT??????" and the occasional "Awesome! Thanks PD"....

Seasonal events I'm sure I read are not a bonus, I thought PD announced they would release one every Wednesday, correct if i'm wrong.

Ok, that is EVERY week. If there is not one there something has gone wrong, it's not a question of they didn't fancy doing it, they are committed by company policy.
 
But they were not included on the original disc that you bought, but have been introduced via a patch (all of which are free) and they have merely said via an in-game anouncement that they will be every week. My next point was then the lack of complaining when PD broke that 1 week rule by bringing out a seasonal a few days later.... So they state a week, and as long as it is only ever a week at the most between updates then it is ok? In which case, PD have until Friday to bring out a new seasonal. That, or people will be angry not to be given free races to race.
 
So every week is the end of the world because SE are:

- late... so especulation begin to raise... DLC, patchs, elfs, mordor.
- early... so many people blame PD for the early OCD update because they were so close to buy that dream car... so close!
- just in time... but no OCD...

But if everything goes right (SE & OCD updated just in time), it's good time to rant about no DLC, no patch, not enought content in GTTV, trade limits, online game infairness.. etc etc etc
