So every week is the end of the world because SE are:

- late... so especulation begin to raise... DLC, patchs, elfs, mordor.
- early... so many people blame PD for the early OCD update because they were so close to buy that dream car... so close!
- just in time... but no OCD...

But if everything goes right (SE & OCD updated just in time), it's good time to rant about no DLC, no patch, not enought content in GTTV, trade limits, online game infairness.. etc etc etc

Well played my friend. 👍

Jajajaj, you have described the 99% of GTPlanet Users

What should PD expect players to do? Chant "We Obey!" rhythmically while waiting for loading screens to finish and for the cursor to appear on menus?

very funny - i caught myself rofl'ing ...

Yes, pretty much. Their game, their rules. If tomorrow Kaz said: "**** them all! I'm going to Ubisoft to make the next Raving Rabbids!", then it's his right. We have bought the game, get the support if it doesn't work from Sony or the dealership and that's it.
As the player, you buy the game the way the developpers want you to have it. And if they want all cars to be pink MX-5s, then you'll have to live with that too. If you don't like it, play something else, as you can not change it. You can ask nicely for stuff, as I do too, and maybe they'll make it happen. But demanding gifts is just plain and simply rude.

I have said it before, and I'll gladly say it again: Thanks a million for that game PD! Awsome, awsome thing. And I'm amazed that they have put that much effort and that much time and money in making it better. They were not forced to, they could have very well left it the way it was when it came out of the box, and be happy with all the money they made. Because even in that state, all of us GT-Lemmings would have bought GT6 when that one comes out, hoping it would be better.

If anyone was too lazy to read the whole thing: Polyphony Digital doesn't owe us anything. But they still give us. Nuff said.

I disagree, we as the consumer have every right to complain because this is the 5th incarnation of the GT franchise as we all know. so based on what we have had before, GT5 fails big time with regards to game content...that and the fact that Kaz himself stated the game wasn't finished and rushed for X-mas 2010 release.

Personally, i feel cheated because after playing GT4 which had so much content, GT5 has what, a 3rd (if not less) of the content of 4?
Also, licenses now don't mean a damned thing!

To sum up, yes we are owed all content including SE's since the game was never finished when we bought it....a nice little warning on the box would have saved me £50 because i would never have bought the game if i had known how little content was in 5 compared to 4 and there would have been 1 less "whiner" on these boards!

The reason you get all the whining and complaining is because gamers expect more. Video gaming has become a huge business and is very competetive between companies looking to lure the others business away. If you want to keep them you have to keep them happy. Now you cant please everyone but if you give regular updates and added content then people start to expect it on that regular basis, when it doesnt come the complaining starts. To me it boils down to information, tell us when its coming or why its going to be late, that should cut down on the speculation and complaining.

My turn to disagree. If you had looked up the reviews and read about the game you would have known all the stuff about the standards and premiums, grinding, ugly shadows, laggy connections, short career mode and so on.
I agree that they did not deliver everything we were all expecting. And yes, based on previous games, it's smaller. But on what basis does one go out and demand more content because a previous installment was bigger? And I use the word "demand" on purpose. You can be disappointed, angry or whatever, but that does not automatically entitle you to get more.

I too bitch and moan about some aspects of the game, sure. But I know I have no right to demand for them to add stuff. Even more so if we are talking about bonus content. They never promised it, they just said there would be weekly seasonal events. There never was any contract, no dealer telling you you would get all that stuff (for free!!) nor anything. Hence me saying they don't owe us anything. And that "moral obligation because they are PD and we love Gran Turismo" is just crap, and you know it. Look how Square Enix butchered Final Fantasy, when they knew full well what people wanted.

I know it's hard to do, but we have to accept that GT5 is not as good as it could have been, because there is not enough content available. Just be happy for everything you get, because the worst case would be to not get anything at all.

That indeed is a good point. They could have expected people to get angry because they got stuff for free and suddenly it doesn't come as regularly as it did. And granted, the information policy is poor. I'd love to at least know something, I'd be happy with a "No idea if/when stuff will come out".

But regarding "keeping the customer happy": GT is such a big franchise, one of THE system sellers for the PS3. The game sells all by itself. And we will all buy GT6. And as long as they do not drop below a certain standard, we will keep doing so. And in my view, that standard is still alive and well in GT5. It did not live up to everyone's expectations, which was frankly hard to do.

I see it as a surprise if I turn on GT and it says new seasonals.

Feels like christmas.

When I get disconnected from a room and the screen freezes, that's just like Christmas.
I hate Christmas.
Seeing a new seasonal event, I imagine a utopian world within the PD offices where a miracle occurred and what they created actually worked, and thus they uploaded it.

I want some more tracks. MORE TRACKS! I'd like to see a 3/8 mi banked oval with a cross over. Mostly, though, some European tracks with configs from the 1960's.

Guys we just need to buy FM4, that's it. Even Kaz wants us to buy it because at PD they're just too lazy to give us cars and tracks. And a dumb livery editor (such as, uh, let-me-put-a-friggin' stripe-here-and-there, no more than that).

Er... Thats a 360 title. As much as I like my racing games, I'm not buying a curseBox. My DFGT won't work with it for a start

As far as I recall T10 offered monthly DLC for a year and barely made it to the end because demand dropped off. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Not just that, then they pretty much royally screw everyone that bought all the DLC by releasing a version of the game that pretty much comes with all that DLC for free (you just had to pay $39.99, which is even cheaper then the launch price of Forza 3). I think the combined cost of all the DLC released for Forza 3 works out to be close to or even more than your standard console game, and that's on top of paying for the game itself also. You buy the version with the DLC included, and you're pretty much just paying for the game and the DLC is free.

Then there's also the cars that only come with that version and the only way to obtain them is to buy that copy of the game, which meant if you already owned Forza 3 and wanted those cars you had to buy another copy of the game, whether the price is worth a handful of cars is up to you I guess.

I can only hope T10 doesn't pull another one of these with Forza 4, I wonder if people will wait a year to buy 4 because of what happened with 3.

Thanks for that. All things considering we aren't so bad off with the seasonals and since PD lifted the expiery date, I'm still busy golding the Lughtweight Nürburgring race with all my stock TVRs and hunting the UCD for the missing models.

It does add replay value for me and although I would like to see an expert seasonal every week I don't feel cheated in any way they missed one or two this week. SuperGTs and TVRs on the Nordschleife and massive payouts on top of that is good enough for the moment for me.

I think new seasonal events will come with new path.
And i hope it will be soon.

Some very good points, i could counter with the "why" i did not look at the reviews prior to purchasing the game but there's little point in that for obvious reasons.
So in response it's best we agree to disagree on some (not all) of the points you have made 👍 :)

Me personally, i would 100% prefer we had the rest of the games content, the removal of this STUPID XP system and go back to licenses and game progression=meaning something and the re-merging of A and B spec into a single game, (ala, GT4 style) instead of SE's....which i believe would resolve MUCH (not all) of the whining?

Edit, i've only joined the GT franchise since 4 (have not played 1,2,3). just out of curiosity, was there anywhere near this level of bitching with 2,3 or 4...anyone??

There's this level of bitchin' on pretty much any forum! :sly: Check out some of the F1 forums... wow!

I must admit, GT5 seems to have people on here far more polarized than previous versions.

Bitching for small things in any game is a given, but the levels of bitching from people on these boards (me included) for GT5 is huge given the passion people have for the GT series...that in it self tells us pretty much all we need to know about just how bad GT5 is in many areas compared to previous incarnations of the GT franchise.

There wasn't bitching for GT1 and 2 because 1) there weren't any internet-connected consoles so no DLC ever, and 2) the internet wasn't half as popular as it is today. In 1998 and 1999 there wasn't much online besides gamefaqs and like, AOL message boards.

I didn't know of this site back then anyway.

Well actually both the Sega Saturn and Sega Dreamcast after it were available at the time of GT1 and 2 and actually were both able to be internet connected but you're correct in that there was no DLC for anything console wise. Addon content however was ubiquitous for many years in PC gaming, except many times you had to go out and buy an additional disk.

However to say the internet wasn't much more than gamefaqs and AOL message boards a short 12 years ago is completely out of touch. All the major game sites were around back then (Gamespot, IGN, etc), all had message boards. All the big game companies had a major online presence, etc. I will say that now the access to the developers, and their access to fans through things like facebook and twitter has only done more to stoke these fires. In the past you were limited to when they published an interview or article with them.

The reason people complain now is that a certain level of service has been established by other franchises in offering games, and then offering tons of extra stuff you can download (EA being the worst offender IMO). That is compounded with the fact that since the release of the PS3 the game has been promised, GT5P was put out and it was a great taste that everyone figured well if its this good now the final product since its taking so long must be HUGE. And continuously everyone was told it would be the greatest thing since the invention of the wheel.

Gaming is just different than it was 10+ years ago. A standard level was not established in the GT series - if you look at racing games on the PC and consoles prior to GT none had anywhere near as many cars, most games had a choice of a few cars and 5 or 6 tracks excluding ones based on like F1 or IndyCar or Nascar. Even those games ex - IndyCar Racing you only got half the tracks you had to buy an add-on to get the other half of the IndyCar Season. So now that a standard has been established everyone expects huge improvement at every step, when that doesn't happen, you get what we have here.

PS I personally think the game is still great, but agree that it would have been nicer to have as much content as GT4 had. IMO the developers maybe didn't put as much into events for GT5 because they assumed the online component would take its place. In the past devs would have to put more into the single player game to make sure the player got their money's worth, since once that game disc was printed that was it - it was done.

Me too! :)

Most of these whiners simply do not realize how good they got it. I bought GT5 in December, and still enjoy the heck out of it!!

Any body remember growing up before there where video games?

I do.

I swear Legolas or it might have been Gimli stole my RM'd 'vette, but I found it in the Shire(GreenHell)

My theory isn't as far fetched as the OP's either.

Godzilla destroyed tokyo (hence the quake and tsunami). Folowed immediatly by a propaganda campaign by the government to convince us he doesn't exist. ( what radiation leak? Thats a pile of radioactive lizard doodoo!) The move to Fukuoka isn't a move, it's a restart of PD!!!! They cloned as many workers as possible with the genetic remains of the ashtray left behind by the Beastly Lizard and the seasonals are still too difficult for the fresh clones.

This just in: Mothra and Gamera have now invaded Fukuoka, so if you want to help us all out, please, grab a bottle of Raid and start paddling cause they have just shut all flights down!

By all means, please do. It will be one less person such as yourself whose posts I won't have to read.:dunce:

I'm ok with agreeing on your "disagree proposal" 👍 :)

But I'm with you 100% on the b-spec and level thing. What in the world is that about? At least when they revealed the remote races, it started to make a tiny little bit of sense, but not that much. I guess I'll never come to really "like" it, I just tolerate the stand-alone mode just like one can grow accustomed to a new scar one gets on his body.
As I said to a british guy I've played with online back in January: GT5 is an awsome game, but not sure if I'm going to play it as long as I played GT4 (2 years straight).

PD said that they are going to release a seasonal every week. With the 1st seasonal; well, they just could have ... here it is; take it; make some money and credits; here you go ... you know what i'm saying?

But no, they (once again) had to raise the expectations to a point - there will be a new seasonal every week - they would never be able to meet ... and i'm not talking about one seasonal a week or two in one week, but PD just promising or stating or what so &%$ ever thing ... and THAT is what users are fed up with! Just another #%$§ promise ...

And yes, I know there was an earthquake and to some extend the lovely country of Japan still is and / or is facing different &%$ ... but do check this out:
