Am I the only one with this problem? We sit there on free drive and get ran into by most people who get bored after sitting there for half an hour. I've tried five or six times to race online, not one has ever started.

I think it will take some time before online racing gets sorted.

I go online racing occasionally, but sill need to get credits to fill my garage with premiums.

Many of my 'friends' are on GT5 but I have yet to race with them (met some during F1 2010 online racing).

I'm right there with you!! It gets old quick:crazy:

I ran across this tard today that claimed he "was testing the damage effects" by running backwards around Indy & causing headon colissions.

I wish there was some sort of time limit to warm up & get your cars ready for the race.

I agree. There should be max 2-3 min break between races. If people want to tune, change car, or get a beer, they can go out of the room and come back once ready to race again.

Agreed - Enter the room when your ready for a race. tune some other time. If your car does match the room you want, go offline, tune it and comeback. If the room filled up then oh well, that just would mean people who were actually ready to race got in.
Yeah, I know, never happen... Just dreaming...

I also have yet to actually get into a race and have been in online rooms many times now. It's great for a drag race or to back to the rubber wall for a top speed race down the Lemans straight with no chicanes but that gets old quick.

Some people set up rooms just to free run or Drift so putting a timer is dumb... People who just want to tandem drift with a friend would be screwed. Just look for rooms that are actively racing, don't go into a room labeled free run then complain about no race being started. Also if you enter a room ask the host whether he is going start a race.. if no responce, leave to another room quite simple...

timer as an option, if you want to free run put it in the room title, problem is people take over rooms and dont start races, it is frustrateing more so when limited time to play is a factor.

I've been to plenty of rooms where races are started. I've been to plenty of rooms where people communicate with me about starting a race.

I've also been to plenty of rooms that DO NOT INTEREST ME. So I left the room. Do what I do and don't waste your time trying to change someone's play and find a room you like.

Mr Kazunori Yamauchi said this (as posted on GT Planet News Section)

  • Online “lounge” functionality and other features will be added “one by one”.
  • In-game rewards (such as the monetary prize in GT5 Prologue) for your performance in online events is something Polyphony Digital is considering, and may be implemented in a future update.

Maybe that means we will get a section of online gaming that is like it was in Prologue = Race starts instantly, Races updated every month or so, Always people to fill a starting field (, bumped out in first corner ;))

Yeah some people start races some people don't but also ive noticed that most of the time the race never starts. Hopefully online mode will keep getting updated though.

I've never seen this really. I like how the races are set up online. Free run practice is more fun than GT5P's method, though admitedly, the latter was probably more efficient. It would probably be harder to do things GT5P style in GT5 since the rooms are user created though.

If they do make a timer, it should be optional. I think a more worthwhile addition would be the ability to lock the room to prevent people from entering after a certain time so that everyone has time to practice and set up without worry about some random guy entering 5 seconds before the race starts in a car that's against room rules.

I know members of GTP have rooms you drift and race in, but i cant seem to find them. I usually get stuck with some putz that wants to crash into everyone (like what was mentioned before) And now since there is "mechanical damage" its not so easy to shake it off. so i know there is a thread about online races run by people in the forums, but why dont we make them more frequent?

When I'm in public rooms, I find that a lot of the races are started by Aussie or UK room hosts. If it's a Saudi Arabian that's running the room you can almost guarantee that it's just going to be free run so you can drift or drag all the time.....it's like that most nights I'm online.

well said:tup:

choose a room and then communicate about the plans for the current session

START THE RACE !!!!
its online racing !! not online farting about driving around
tracks in the wrong direction
you can spend ages trying to get a race and even when
room ownership changes to someone else , the numptys dont
notice so we spend another 10 mins driving around waiting
on someone to start the race !
stick a time limit of 5 mins between races on everything
