You guys don't have to turn every thread into a bitch fest back and forth. For the love of Will Ferrell Keep it in your pants.

Perhaps its time to concede to one of the "pain points" behind these debates, namely - it doesn't help being a PD sycophant. There is nothing wrong with showing support for one of your favourite game developers or defending them against unfounded criticisms, but when its done repeatedly and excessively to justify certain issues such as false advertisement or claims, then it really makes absolutely no sense, and you are merely degrading yourselves to "fanboydom".

Please do not forget that, even if you did not pay for the MSRP of $60 yourself, your parents or friends did. $60 is a lot of to ask for a game that showed a lack of care and quality control in many respects. Whatever the strong points in GT5, it does not in any way veil the factors that are detrimental to the game.

The next update will allow players to make their cars have insanely negative camber angle. Joking. It brings remote racing and likely standard-premium upgrades.

We have remote racing.

I turn on. Give bob a ridiculous car and bugger off.
Cone back after shopping or washing my hair and job done.

Don't do it anymore though, it dawned on me how silly it is.

Is it possible PD are working on something really big? A nice surprise update fixing some of the major gripes? I'm not getting my hopes up, but that would be very good use of time by PD.

It would indeed... I mean, imagine login into PSN and firing GT up after a long day at work. and then, you're reading that news thingy... And it says something like 'Graphical issues with smoke and shadows have been solved'.

I'd be ZOMG! and go watch all of my saved replays :D

Graphical issues with smoke and shadows have been solved, and replays now have Rewind and Fast forward!

Nope, that's too much... I'd love it, but my Flickr wouldn't be able to cope with all the pictures I'd be taking :O

Oh so you say weekly events are crap and not sun must be so. Most find them to be the best events for gt5, irrelevant point. Again, gt5 has been out 2 months, DLC will come. Apples and orange, not rocket science. forza is close to 2 years old, it never had DLC first month either.

YOU don't like this and that, many do, whats your point? When forza becomes a sim let me know.

froza had to have more car DLC, it has what 400 cars? Gt5 has 1000.

FM3's first monthly DLC came out a month and a half after release, it is now over two months after GT5 came out.

forza is as much of a simulation as GT. it isn't. iRacing is a sim, FM and GT are simulation games. both are equally realistic.

GT5's car list only contains 200 modernised cars and the 800 standard cars contain about 65 NSXs and 80 skylines.

Please excuse my ignorance here - I have definitely missed something...
but where is this official feedback forum? :)

Hehe...very good point...

At the top of the page you'll see News / Forum / Guides /vFeedback / Store

Click on Feedback. In there you'll see GTPlanet's wishlist. You can vote on your favourites. With a bit of luck PD will see this and start working working on some of these. It's not an official thing, just a way of GT players to voice their views.

Think about this long wait as a good things this month they have probably been trying to convert the cars to premium, remote access was just being finalized when the game released they already were making remote play on the browser, making the site fully connected to the ps3 was the only big issue they really had with that and they probably based it off of remote play with the psp. This update may have many fixes we all wanted and if it comes out tomorrow then we should all just wait and see. Now if its a garbage patch, then PD needs to get their act together and follow the feedback section to know what needs to be done. Thanks to GTplanet and Jorden esp. for doing that, so don't complain about any of the things the need to do here in the forums put it in the feedback section, cross your fingers and hope PD listens.

What's getting to me is this:
When people pointed out the flaws GT5 is going to have before it was released, they were told to wait and see what the release holds.

When it was released and was flawed and those flaws were pointed out by some folks, they were told to wait and see what the upcoming patch holds.

When that patch didn't fix the flaws that were named again and again, and those flaws were being pointed out by people yet again, they were told to wait and see what the next upcoming patch holds.

Seriously, we've been waiting for a while now, and while they introduced a workaround for one of the problems (seasonal races helping out with the XP and Credits), we still haven't seen fixes to some of the major issues.

Absolute BULL, Forza has been out for over 1.5 years, Gt5 just 2 months, it took a long time for forza to get those updates, we already get FREE events every week.
Forza also wasn't released in such an obviously unfinished state, so the fact that game updates came slower wasn't anywhere near as big of a problem.

JGW
They've done weekly updates. They added a new red paint chip, a slightly pink one, a light red one, and a reddish purple one. This week I think they are going to move to another color in the spectrum. ;)

Hey, what more could you ask for?

You guys have some high expectations for this patch. I think PD is going to put what was advertised on the box and thats about it. I think standard to premium is not going to happen, they had 5 years to do that. Take GT5 for what it is now. I do hope I'm wrong.

Honestly who is seriously holding out for wholesale changes?

The game as a whole is flawed and no amount of updates is going to change that. The core of the game was done half as#ed so adding events isn't going to fix anything.

As long as the AI model stays the same just about any other update is a waste of time.

I'm not going to wait on any updates, just for better games to come out later this year

More A-spec events would definitely help. Or maybe a whole new "C-Spec" career with more events with longer 10, 20, or so lap races that include damage and tire wear and fuel consumption like the endurance races. There's a lot they could do to fix the a-spec part of the game. Raise the XP level cap with more events, raise the credit cap to 50 or 100 million.. use all GT5 has to offer in the single player events, not just a bunch of crappy, short, unregulated, and way to easy a-spec type events as it is now. Ai improvements would be possible too, as well as GFX improvements and fixes.

I rather one big and useful patch than a lot of small and useless patchs almost every day cofcofCallofDutycofcof

Years from now and who knows how many patches later we will be seeing "who cares that last patch didn't fix the big issues, GT6 is right around the corner and I am sure that's gonna fix all the problems from GT5 and more!"

God forbid anything potentially negative about GT6 starts cropping up before release...

And on a sepeprate note, I would point out that patches aren't nearly as helpful for those who may not have access to broadband internet...

People say that a lot, i'll tell you what if i spent $550 NZD on a ps3 i sure as hell am gonna have a 35$ a month broadband connection . Everyone even receiving government benefits can afford $8 a week for broadband.

That statement just isn't valid in today's day and age . On a side note your posts devedander are usually very good and i enjoy reading them :)

And don't say some countries haven't yet got broadband etc.. Because i live in New Zealand and we have the second worst internet in the world , just in front of Ethiopia.

Taking it on a "per country" level isn't looking at it very accurately... I live in California, hardly a place you would consider lacking infrastructure and I have over a dozen coworkers who can't get broadband where they live (lots of semi rural areas have no coverage because it's not worth laying the infrastructure for a handful of customers).

I believe niky has commented on her internet situation as being pretty crap as well...

It's one thing to say that on average broadband has permiated most of the world that could afford PS3's but realistically there are still man pockets even withing developed areas which have no access to broadband and far more (especially now that the UBB hit Canada) that have access to only metered (thus expensive) broadband.

So in short, I am gonna go ahead and say it: Broadband permiation is far from ubiquitous and financial reasons aren't the only ones that might prevent someone from having it. That's ignoring the fact you shouldn't have to spend any $$ monthly to get a fully finished and functional product you pay full price for ;)

EDIT and as for being almost the worst internet in the world:

http://www.internetworldstats.com/list2.htm

Don't count on it :)

Point taken about rural areas and what not, that really would be a pain in the bum - I hadn't thought of that small minority when i should have.

Yeah i can relate to metered,expensive broadband as i have a 20G limit :(

As for being the nearly worst internet in the world - WOW that is massive "penetration" so to speak. Not sure if 86% is because we are so small or because they (ISP) would rather rape 90% of the country financially than 30%.
But interesting website, it suprised me.

This forum transformed into an ask for a new game and not for bug-fixing anymore.

I don't want a new game. I want the one I was led to believe I was buying. The game that the pre-release hype from PD claimed it would be. Hell, I'd even settle for the game the box promises is inside.

Don't need another "What's in the next patch" thread.

Don't need another "GT5 / Forza" thread.

Don't need another "GT5 / PD / Sony sucks" thread.

Don't need another thread asking about when the next patch is, either. We already know the "when."

Locked. Sorry.
