I never got anything for my birthday. :(

I got a birthday thread from Zero like a week later. Thanks Zero. :D

Whats the point of having a non-GT3 player/racer a mod of the GT part of the board?

thats just what i was thinking zero , cant remember him EVER post in there  hmmm does he even know where it is :P better leave directions for him :D

sorry noc :( nothing personal man just an observation ;)

Well, now that I think about it, maybe the GT forums would not benefit from Noct, since he doesn't play GT atall....however I do feel that he should get to mod a forum...

Jordan, I think that you should hire people for modding jobs based on what they know...

It's like this...

If you owned a dealership, a Mazda dealership, and there was a rotary guy there, and a Millenia specialist(Millenias are hard to work on, so specialists could be on them...), you wouldn't want the Millenia guy working on RX-7s while the rotary guy is working on 323s and 626s, and another guy working on the Millenias and 929s...the shop wouldn't function well with the mechanics asking eachother what they need to do to fix the car.

Noct, if your good with computers, you should mod the PC forums, or if you're good with racing then maybe a racing forum....go with what you know and you will be better off with your job here.

That's all I have to say about that, and I'm not saying that Noct shouldn't mod at all, I think he should mod, just not the GT forums.

Interesting! I just saw that he is now a mod! I'm not gonna say how I feel one way or another...it's not really my decision. Congrats, Noc, I guess.

I think maybe I figured it out:

since Noc started those suggestion threads about merging threads, Jordan might be letting him be a mod so that he can merge all of those threads. That would be a good use of time, and it was his idea, so he can do it. Maybe that's it...then again, maybe not...

well....mods basically moderate forums (duh!) so knoledge of the forum they are modding has no point. If they know about that piticualr topic they should just post what they know.

But otherwise moderating the forums is just watching out for swearing and/or innapproiate topics/posts.

Anyone notice that the car forums are all modded by Phil...he hasn't been here for several months...what good is he doing?

Jordan, if you want to, can you offer these modding jobs to the people who want them? If you do, I'd like the Automotive forum....but any will do lol....hope you decide to open those up to active members of GTP....

What am I supposed to say? "Jordan can you please open the mod jobs for the car forums, I don't want one though" WTF? I'm not going to say that...if Jordan says no then I'm not going to be pissed, I just would like to help out.

Interesting... I was going to say, "Read the help topics on becoming a mod, as it states to not ask to become one...", but in looking for that info, it appears to no longer be there... :odd:

Anywho...

whoha!

How interesting... most forums do have disclaimers saying not to ever bug the webmaster about being a mod... but for some reason Jordan seems to have chosen to omit the FAQ link normally found on all vB forums. Guess he figured no one would read it. :D ;)

BTW, I kinda have the same view as troy... from experience (I used to be an admin at another forum), I can tell you that modding doesn't require knowledge on the topic, with one exception... the mod wouldn't know if the topic is one of those common sense kind of things for the game, but that doesn't seem to be a problem here at GTPlanet, since we're all more than willing to help newbies in the GT Series forums. As for whether or not he deserves it, I honestly have no clue... I've only been here for several months. But, I wouldn't argue about it... Jordan is God. :D

NocturnalPS made it very clear to me that he has the GT3 forum's best interests as his top priority by posting this thread. He wants to make it organized and more usable, and that's something that the GT3 forum needs. A moderator is just that - a moderator: someone who inforces the rules and keeps things in order. He doesn't need to answer everyone's questions and respond to every post. If I don't think he's doing a good job in that position, then he won't be in it anymore. And, his birthday had no influence over my decision.

I don't choose moderators based on who is the most "deserving" or who has been around the longest (I learned that lesson the hard way). I choose moderators when I think there is a need for them, not for novelty.

As for contacting me about becoming a moderator, this prohibition was never changed or moved. It is posted here.

Ahhh... There it is. Thanks for the clarification on the location of that statement Jordan! :)

That's OK, but I must admit I was suprised how upset you were over the issue. Who, in your opinion, would have been the best choice? There's not any kind of limit to the number of moderators a forum can have, you know...

Well certainly not me, I had my shot and blew it. I know he will decline but Mr P is quite possibly the best racer on this board and he's done a service to the OLR community on this board. I dunno though i didnt really think about it that hard.

Jordan, I was just stating that since Phil doesn't come here anymore, new mods should be inplace...if that's me or not is up to you, I wasn't asking to become one, I was just stating that if you did choose me that I would do it.

And I didn't contact you about it...it was just a post...

Unless someone else contacted you on here.....

Jordan I know this was not directed at me but I think Zero should be a mod again. I chat with him on AIM and all he talks about it GTPlanet and Gran Turismo. I dont know it was just a thought. :D

I sense so many sour grapes in this thread.
He's an active member, and acts like an adult which is more than the majority around here. This has got to be a first, an entire thread designed to bash a new moderator. Generally we wait until they disgrace themselves like a certain someone (and the other, but he's not around much)
Maybe this is why Loudmusic left... :shakehead

Congrats NocturnalPS, you deserve it.

I wasnt bashing him Tom, I was asking why he was a mod, I totally forgot about that thread of his.

Hmm, is it just my imagination, or is there a lot of jealousy in the room?:reallyodd

Welcome to the group Noc...;)
