There's a strong reason you're finding it strange how you can't match real-life's time.

You're using an LFA whereas he was using an LFA Nurburgring edition.

Oh and Orange paint made him faster.

Yeah, wanted to see if he was speaking the same language as me, not gonna post all messages in our language i thought it was clear... ;)

As for the tires, i seen an SLS AMG live at WOT a couple times and it didnt had traction problem what so ever in straight line in 2nd gear from a roll. Its a bit off in the game but its not that bad. Still the best physic imo. :)

I didnt watch the real lap close enough and see that the time is cut of a bit earlier than in GT.

The difference is the corner by the old pits, as explained on the Wiki article about Nordschleife: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nürburgring_Nordschleife_lap_times

Quoting them:
Full lap
A full lap of the Nordschleife, bypassing the modern GP track, is 20.832 km (12.944 mi) long. Most laps are completed 200 metres (656 ft) shorter for safety reasons. Full uninterrupted flying laps can only be done in closed sessions and race events like Castrol-Haugg-Cup.
Sport Auto lap
During the industry testing sessions in which sport auto records its "Supertest", the track can not be traveled at full speed past "Tribüne 13" (T13, grandstand 13) in order to allow safe access from the old exit/entrance there. Thus, sport auto Supertests cover only about 20.6 km (12.8 mi), which in average yields a 7 s shorter lap time compared to a full lap.

Almost all published laptimes are done on industry test sessions for the 20.6km track, so the time starts where GT5 does, but stops at the final right-hander somewhere.

Thanks for the explanation 👍 So I could have taken the lap even a little bit more cautiously :)

I think I'll try the Nissan GT-R next, and get that trophy finally too.

One of the few cars which I consistently forget the name :banghead: Anyways, an absolute pleasure to drive. Really heavy steering on the G27, but can take many corners flat. Suspension, Aero and Brake bias tuning ;)

This has become one of my new favorites! Great handling, feels like I'm directly connected to the car. Pretty tricky to brake with ABS: OFF though. Will be re-running this once broken in properly :)

Alex, for your Honda S500 '53 time, is it really '53 or its '63?

Hi everyone. I'm working on the GT-R '07 trophy and I have been practising a lot on the Nordschleife. Here is the video from my best lap time so far. It's 07.34.something something.

I was wondering if you would be as kind as to provide me with some feedback on where I can steal some valuable seconds. I always find the Flugplatz turn, the Eschbach turn and the Eiskurve to be difficult. Bear with me though, as I'm not an expert driver like Timppaq or mike_gt3.

So please if you will, give me some hints on where I can improve a lot and also where I do something right. Sorry if this is a bit off the subject, but this seemed the right thread to post in. Oh and where I drive on the grass, I'm not trying to cheat by cutting corners; it's just bad driving. :D

Theres a few curves you did alright to be able to win the trophy, all in all id say your error are:

1. You brake too early in some area.
2. You keep the inside before entenring a curve, missing the apex.''outside-inside-outside''
3. You push too much too early and end up sliding just before exiting a corner, make you lose a good amount of time. :)

For example at the Hatzenbach , theres a serie of curves, the entry was good, the speed was correct and the line was good but at the end you picked up too much speed and ended sliding the car on the last exit. Try going a little slower before the last curve so you can accelerate full throttle without sliding but still using all the track at that area.

Try to use the weight of the car without making it slide too much... hard to describe...

Some curves will have better grip if you make sure to stay inside as close as possible to the cobblestone without touching it... (still keeping in mind the ''outside-inside-outside''...

Like the Ex-Muhle, you steered slightly too late, the car will grip more if you keep it closer to the cobblestone at the apex. and it can make a good difference especially since its going uphill afterward...right there you can gain at least 0.5 second.

On the first part of the track you steered quickly to make the car slide into the corner, but you will keep more speed if you slow down slightly before the curve and just move as close to the inside as possible without touching the cobblestone and exiting very close to the grass on the left, touching the cobblestone(unless you run half the car over it) will throw the car to the outside a little...

Hope that help... but next time post on the GTR trophy thread it will be even more suited.

With more practice you will improve your time. :)

What I noticed from your driving was that you let the car idle. The tyres are supposed to be accelerating or braking, nothing else. :)

edit: ok, turning aswell, but you get the point :P

Yeah, I usually drive this section error free.

Yes, you're right! This is a difficult turn I think. Needs practise.

I know. Again, I usually drive this section better. This was in fact one of my dirtiest laps, but somehow I still got the fastest time. :)

Hope that help... but next time post on the GTR trophy thread it will be even more suited.
There you go. I wasn't even aware of that thread. Will do! :)

Thanks a lot man. Very helpful. :)👍

Oh and just one last thing:
You brake too early in some area
I wasn't aware of this. Do you have any examples? You can just name times from the video. For example 2:04, is that an example of too early braking?

That's a good point!! I think I have a tendency to do it if I know I'm making a good lap and then get nervous.

I'm the exact same myself (even though I usually end up cocking it up anyway). :) I watched your whole video and wrote down some times that I thought you could be more aggressive at, please keep in mind that I'm by no means an expert of this circuit.

0:50
2:05
2:35
3:55
4:40
5:30
6:10
6:20

I couldn't be bothered to take down exact times, but I'm sure you'll see which corners I mean :)

I agree with most of those. Well at least it's good to know that there is a lot of room for improvement. :D And I only need 5 seconds.

Thanks for helping 👍 I'll give this thread back now. Sorry for hijacking.

I dont have enought time before going to work to watch the video again, but i will when ill get back from work and will PM you.

You should be able to do low 7:20 without problem.
