Now the Thrustmaster 500 is coming out, will Kaz ignore the G 25/27?

I think official support for the G25/27 will never come out because the licensing with the DFGT provides an incentive to promote that as the only officially supported current logitech wheel.

I would assume some royalties go to PD for every DFGT sold and as such it would be bad business to officially sanction an alternate wheel that they get no royalties from from a business standpoint.

The license is with Logitech, so any extra sales are good ones, especially when the extra publicity is for a more expensive wheel.
Kaz said that he is considering adding support in the same day that he announced that he wants a new wheel.

I dont think they ever planned to support the 25/27's. They are trying to push the DFGT's. If they planned on supporting it, obviously they would have.

Sounds like the 2 big GT5 wheels are this Thrustmaster as the high end wheel, beyond the quality of the the 25/27's, and the lower end budget DFGT's. Makes sense.

thid new thrustmaster looks really badly made, and plasticcy, so im hoping noone buys it and kaz sorts out the G wheels instead.

Im getting it, it looks great, and it will be fully supported by the game.

Well at elast the wheel sworks, it would be nice to see all the little things ironed out though,

the dodgy 1-2 nd gear issue, the button mapping etc.
Missing second gear seem to be designed. If you rpm are too high it will not go into second especially if you are spinning your wheels while in 1st. Just delay a split second going from 1st to 2nd and you'll be fine.

That's the problem with trying to be too realistic in a sim. In Forza 3 you can damage your engine if you accidentally shift too low. IRL it harder to do this than in a sim with a push of a button. IRL you receive a lot more information that is not in a sim so they need to be more forgiven. I really don't like Gt5 missing gear because of rpm or Forza damage for shifting too low. I really hope PD does not add this in GT5.

He better finish the job. I've just spent a few hundred getting a G25 and it can't be returned

Well basically the new wheel looks like other products from this manufacturer= nasty. But after all Thrustmaster offered more money to Sony so they could make the "official gt wheel" its all about the money.

No, I hope....

What I am finding concerning is you buy a popular wheel expecting future support (lets be honest some of them are not cheap) only to find slowly they are not being supported.

EG: I purchased the fanatec 911 turbo (original), no support for F1 2010. Have now gone down the G27 route due to the G25/27 huge popularity and although works with game does not seem to be officially supported. I do not (that should be will not) want to have to buy a new wheel for every decent racing game that comes out due to ""business"" and deals done for 'official game specific wheel deals'.

You buy a very popular wheel you expect game companies to support them.

I considered buying the G 25 before GT 5 came out, now i am kind of glad I didn't, so far my trusty old DFP still works like a charm.
So, I will wait a little longer and see what the best options are in a few month.
BTW, is it just my mind that's in the gutter or does the new wheels name sound like something you might find in a sex store? THRUSTMASTER.... mmmhh?

G25/G27 will never be supported, because Kazunori wants access to the high end wheels revenues. Logitech probably denied to put a GT logo on their premium wheels, because they sell more than enough in the PC sector. This is why Kaz had to make a new deal with Thrustmaster.
The new deal has nothig to do with quality. The FFB of the Fanatec and Logitech wheels is perfect, but the use of it in GT5 is pure s***. Its all about money...

why would they wait till after the game releases to announce a new wheel? already dropped too much $$$ on a g27 to hear this sort of thing.

it seems like abit of a slap in the face to people who say, i dunno, expected a game to be 'finished' when it first comes out... it's great that damage is something you unlock by leveling up, after all i love putting hours/days into a game just to get it to play the way it should have right out of the box

May be the fact GT5 sold more Fanatec and Logitech wheels than they expect. G27 are pretty much sold out while you can easily get a DFGT. Even Logitech screw up big time by not producing enough G27 to meet the demand for GT5.
Now they realize people was willingly to spend a little on wheels they decided to put the GT logo on a higher price wheel than DFGT. That's my theory anyways.
